8-8-10

7:55AM

Got up at 7:30. Getting everyone ready
to head out to the flea market on the
South end.

10:50AM

Just returned from flea market,
gas station to get gas for lawn
mower.

Got Jonathan a game for his
hand held game system for a buck.

I also found me a VERY GOOD DEAL
on homegrown green bell peppers.
They had them $1.00 a bag.
I got 2 bags for a total of 15 peppers.
Anyone price bell peppers at stores?
The last I saw the other day at Kroger
they were $1.67 EACH on sale!!

These peppers would have cost me
$25.05 if I had bought them from Kroger.
So I saved $23.05!!!

Tomorrow I'll start cutting them up,
blanching them and get them ready
for the freezer.
That reminds me. I need to pick
up some celery also to do up for
the freezer.

I try to buy vegetables when they
are in season and on sale then
freeze them for soups, casseroles,
omletes, hash and what not.

11:00AM

Tony's weed whipping the yard.
Kendra is supposed to come over
so we can go to Lowes to pick up
fence panels and cement.
Then once back home we are
edging the sidewalks and mowing
the grass.
Sometime today Tony wants to work
on putting the shifter cable on the car.
Then we told the kids we would
take them to the pool this afternoon.
Also need to stop by Kroger
for Tony's prescription, get some
Ibuprofen and carpet fresh.

Don't weekends sound fun around here.
Constantly on the move doing something.
AHHHHHH!!

1:00PM

Just back from Lowes. Why does it seem
every time I go to purchase things from
a place like Lowes they act like they've
never sold these things before???

For starters the cashier couldn't
find the fence posts listed to ring
them up. I had to go outside where
they were located and get an item
number from them so they could be rung
up. They had a price sticker of
$26.97 on them. When they punched
in the item number they rang up as
$20.97!! So I save about $42 unexpectedly today!!
YEAHHHHHHH!!

So far we have spent $301 on this fence.
That includes labor and parts.

Still need about 2 more fence panels,
4 more posts and about 1 bag of concrete.
Oh also some hinges and a couple wheels
for the gate to roll across the driveway.
Maybe we won't need them. I just worry
about the stress on the hinges.

2:00PM

Tony mowed front and side yard.
Got the front walk trimmed.

Chilling at the moment then will
head off to go swimming at Tony's
work then to Kroger after that.

2:30PM

Well I need to find everyone's
swimsuit and dig out some floaties
for the pool. Of course they are
in a bottom tote out in the shed.
Then use what's left of my breath
for today to blow all these floaties
up. Sometimes I cheat and pinch
the air intake part and use a hair
dryer on the cool setting to inflate!

Dragging my butt out to shed.
Feel so worn out already!

_____________________________________

7:15PM

Just back from the pool. I don't know
what it is about swimming that wears you
out.

After swimming we stopped in Kroger
to get Tony's prescription. While
there I picked up a FREE dozen eggs,
FREE Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh brown
sugar ham, a baked pie for $1.29
and a loaf of cinnamon swirl bread $1.49

I saw that cinnamon swirl bread and immediately
knew what I wanted to make with it.
Tomorrow for breakfast we're having
cinnamon swirl french bread stuffed
with cream cheese then rolled in crushed
up corn flake cereal.

8:00PM

Tony finished cutting and weed whipping the
back yard. It is all done for another week.

Never got around to putting the shifter
cable in the car today.

I gave the cat a bath with the Dawn
dish soap. That didn't go too bad.
Then after giving her a bath she decided
to give herself one, go figure.
Guess I got all her hairs outta place
and she was putting them back to her
satisfaction.

9:00PM

Time to chill for the evening.
I never got a sales bag on my door
til later on this evening.
It used to come first thing
Saturday morning. They are slacking!
That's what I looked forward to
upon waking up on Saturdays.
Haven't looked at the Dispatch
either so think I'll jump off here
and do that before going to bed.

Tomorrow I'm taking the boys to the
library. I have a reserved book
that came in about Vitamin D.
I also have laundry to do, oh goodie.
It's supposed to be a hot week
in the 90's so shouldn't take the
laundry no time to dry.

8-7-10

9:45AM

Weekends, or at least one day on the
weekend, should be made for sleeping in.

We slept in til 9:30 this morning
when mom called. She must of
been out to yard sales because
she was telling me where some were at.
Then at 9:45AM we had the front door
cracked open and I kept seeing a head
go by the door. The neighbor kids
from across the street are over in our
yard. That's unusual. The kids are around
6,7 and 2. Why would the dad allow them
to come over here that early. Heck
we are just rolling out of bed!

Our plans for this weekend include
swimming, fishing and getting another
shifter cable on the red Trans Am.
The last one wasn't the right size
and had to return it to the store.
If this recent one doesn't fit then
we will have to go with a whole
new shifter and cable. Don't ask
the cost of that if we go that route.
Compared to just the cable it
cost 6-7 times more!
Also sometime this weekend our friend
Kendra will be over with a large
pickup to help go get our fence
panels for the yard. We're looking
at Thursday for getting the cement put in
around the posts. Then probably
next weekend to put up the panels.
Then work on digging holes, putting
in posts and panels by the drive way.

I can't wait. Meaning I've wanted this
for awhile now. We're tired of supplying
the lil hooligans with free bicycles
around here from our yard.
Plus it will be sooo nice to just let
the dog outside without putting her
on a cable and having to untangle
that sucker from around poles, cars
and whatever else is in the yard
that the dog winds around.
Let me tell ya, dogs cannot go
a straight line and come back
a straight line!

10:20AM

Well Tony and the boys went
in search of a donation drop
box to drop off some stuff out
of the basement. The boys
hauled out 4 tote fulls yesterday.
Then will load
up the truck with fishing gear
and head out. Not quite sure
where we are going but heard
Deer Creek get mentioned.
That seems a little ways out
there if you ask me. Wish
we could find something closer.
Driving too much makes me
tired. Deer Creek is South
of Mount Sterling off of 71S.

______________________________

3:45PM

Just returned home. We ended up
going to Alum Creek instead.

I caught a Carp about the length
of my arm. Tony and the boys
caught Blue Gills.

Currently working on supper.
Making Sausage Biscuits & Gravy.

Fried up a pound of sausage, drained.
In a travel cup with lid I added 3
Tablespoons flour, season salt, onion
powder, pepper, chicken boullion
and 2 packets chicken gravy mix.
I then added water and closed
lid and shook really good.
Over medium heat I poured the gravy mixture
over the sausage. Stirring constantly as
the gravy thickens
Add more milk to make just the right
consistancy. I usually add in some
Velveeta cheese but that seemed to
of disappeared from the fridge.

After supper might work on getting
the yard mowed. Wearing down already.

______________________________________

Hey if anyone goes to any yard sales
or thrift stores.
I am looking for bean bag chairs.
Preferably the ones with the microbead
polystyrene beads in them.

Looking for
them for just the stuffing beads inside
for a project. I won't pay more
than $2.00 for a regular sized beanbag
chair.
I want to make a mattress topper out of them.
I have a couple bean bags chairs now
but the styrofoam in them look like
mini marshmallows.

Have you ever tried a feather bed? The
feathers get lumpy over time or start
poking up through the fabric poking you.
I've tried the memory foam toppers
and would like something a little softer.
I've sampled a few beds in the stores
with the memory foam mattresses and they
are too hard. I thought of this idea
a long time ago and never have been
able to make it.

Would like to do a baffled box microbead
topper. Would look something like this
below but filled with styrofoam beads instead
of fluff or feathers.
I figure I could take a bunch of pillowcases,
sew a line in the middle of them.
Cut open the other end. Sew them all in
5x2 strips, keeping ends open.
Then start filling with beads
and sew the edges shut. Will attach
two of the 5x2 strips together if I
have to sew by hand.

6:30PM

Still have not accomplished anything
other than supper since we've returned
home.
Been watching Parent Trap and
Princess Diaries on TV.
Mean Girls is on next (abc family).

Was having a sweet tooth.
Discovered that left over biscuits
with Nutella on the top was soo
yummy!

11:30AM

Yard sales sucked. Found a few
but bought nothing. Mom found
a few things though.

Mom bought us Arby's for lunch.
Had coupons for $2.00 subs.

Then stopped in Kroger for some
pop, lettuce and milk.

Tonight's supper will be BLT
sandwiches. I have a Beefsteak
tomato I have been wanting to use
up and this sounded really good.

Yesterday we took a truckload
of crap over to Tony's work
and dumped it. Found a little
bag next to the dumpster with
these items in it for the boys.

4 pairs socks (I myself needed socks.
boys already got new socks, free
from Meijer)

1 pair of Old Navy Jeans
(don't fit me so may see if Christopher
can wear them. Might have to hem up.
size 32x30)

t-shirt for Christopher

long sleeve shirt for Christopher

tablet of paper

Not much but things I can use.

I have been soooo tired today.
This afternoon I dozed off and my kids,
at least I think they were my kids,
went down in the basement and cleaned up
half of it!! I am still in shock!!
How they managed to do that without
being told or without fighting
with one another is beyond me!!

Well I am off here for now.
Might take the kids to get
a slushie and go to a park
or something since they've been
so good.
Did those words actually come out
of my mouth??????
Maybe I'm still dreaming or something.
Gonna go pinch myself.

I thought I would put a few pet tips
I read about here.
Homemade Pet Remedies

Save your money on flea shampoo -
Use plain old blue original Dawn dish soap-
works great!!!
DO NOT wash your pet with the Dawn more than once a week and finish with a conditioner so not to strip the natural oils of your pets coat.

------------------

Use Dawn dishsoap in steam cleaners
to rid fleas in carpet.

------------------

spritzed with peppermint or lavender oil, which help repel fleas and ticks.
Use Avon's Skin So Soft and mist on coat to repel fleas.

--------------------

before you vacuum put a
piece of a dog collar in the canister or vacuum bag. When you empty out the
vacuum make sure you put it in a double plastic grocery bag and then put it
in your garbage can.

--------------------

Fleas in your house-
Salt all over the house will kill fleas as will borax or baking soda. I use salt under sheets on carpet, etc.

make a mixture of lukewarm water and apple cider vinegar in a big pour jug. I put 1/2 cup of the vinegar into the jug and then filled it with lukewarm water. I set that aside within my reach in the bathroom where I was washing kitty. I filled the tub with luke warm water enough to wash the kitten in.

I took the Blue Dawn Dishwashing liquid and before getting kitty wet I placed a ring of it around her neck and rubbed it in. I did this to prevent the fleas from scurrying to her head when I put kitty in the water and that's where the fleas will run to. But by putting the ring of Dawn around her neck this prevented the fleas from scurrying to her head. I then got kitty wet and placed the Dawn directly onto her and worked up a good lather. I washed her for a good 10 minutes. You wouldn't believe the amount of fleas that fell off her and they were dead fleas.

The Dawn worked to kill the fleas. After 10 minutes of lathering her I took a very fine tooth comb and ran it through her to get the remaining fleas off her. They were all dead. Then I rinsed her with clean lukewarm water. After I rinsed her I took the Apple Cider and water I had mixed in the jug and slowly poured it all over kitty to ensure I got every part of her except her eye area, nose area and the inside of her ears. I did not rinse the Apple Cider Vinegar off her. This formula helps to repel the fleas. They dislike the scent of Apple Cider Vinegar. I also put a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in her drinking water to also assist in repelling fleas.

-------------------

If fleas are a problem for your pet, wash them with Dawn dishwashing soap. It kills them instantly. Leaving a small nightlight on during the night will draw fleas. Just put a small bowl of Dawn under the light and they will jump in.

--------------------

Other uses for Dawn Dish Soap

Which company owns Dawn?

Dawn was created by Procter & Gamble® (P&G) in 1973. P&G is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio and provides products and services of superior quality and value to consumers in over 80 countries worldwide.

Clean on the Cheap: A 14 oz bottle of Dawn costs about $1. Even if you use an ounce per month–unlikely if you’re diluting a few drops in a spray bottle–you’ll get more than a year’s worth of clean for less than ten cents a month.

Dawn in Your First Aid Kit?

-ICE PACK.
Partially fill a strong zip-type sandwich bag with Dawn dishwashing liquid, close and freeze. Just to be safe, double bag it. Freeze. The liquid soap stays cold much longer and it can be re-frozen many times. It will conform to the place you need an ice pack.

- Wash That Driveway

While there are many chemical solvents and degreasers on the market, most of these are not biodegradable, but Dawn dishwashing detergent is. If you have gasoline or motor oil stains on your driveway, you can use the kitty litter method to clean up the excess oil and then use a solution of Dawn dishwashing detergent and warm water to effectively remove excess motor oil from the pavement. Using a scrub broom and a little bit of muscle power, and your driveway will be once again oil-stain-free.

-Soak your Tools

After you have finished your automotive repair project, what are you going to do with those dirty tools? Well, you can soak them in a solution of Dawn dishwashing detergent before you put them away to remove all the oil and grime from them. Apparently, many mechanics also claim that using Dawn dishwashing detergent also helps prevent rust from forming on the tools.

-Laundry

Try Dawn on your next greasy stain in place of your favorite pretreater–you may be surprised by the great results! Note: if you use a HE (High Efficiency) machine, wipe the Dawn away before washing–you may produce more bubbles than your machine can handle.

-HAND DEGREASER

Forget those pricey automotive hand cleaners. Full strength blue Dawn Dishwashing Liquid cuts through grease and gets hands and nails clean with no harsh chemicals.

-REPEL ANTS

Spray countertops, cupboards and any other area where you see ants with a solution of Dawn and water. Wipe dry. The slight residue of Dawn that remains will not be a problem at all for kids or pets, but ants hate it. Should you see a trail of ants, go ahead and hit them with the Dawn spray. You'll see. It will kill them.

-BATHROOM CLEANER

Original blue Dawn Dishwashing Liquid has some kind of miraculous quality about it that makes it "melt" through stubborn soap scum and hideous build-up on showers and tubs, no matter whether porcelain, acrylic or fiberglass. Use it straight up and you'll bless the day you read this column.

-HAIR PRODUCT BUILDUP

Once a month use original Dawn as you would shampoo. It will remove excess oil from your hair and scalp and strip away any build-up of styling products without any damage. Perform this once a month and you won't have to buy expensive salon products that do the same thing.

10:35AM

Looks like we'll have enough cement
for free to do all the fence posts
including the 4 by the driveway.
My step-dad found three bags of
80 pound quikrete in his shed
he'll never use. Those 3 plus
the 4 bags we're getting
off Freecycle should cover it.
They run about $4 a bag times
7 bags. So we will be saving
$28+ in cement with these freebies!

Back in the dungeon again.
I wish a magical genie would appear,
snap his fingers and all this crap
would be done down there!!

Moving bookshelves around and
putting things in the storage
room from the larger room to get
it out of the way.

I wish I could feel like I was
making some kind of headway down
there. All I see is more and more
hard work! Once I get this basement
done and someone leaves something
tore up, not put back or out of
place, they better look out
because mama will be on a war
path!! I could very easily turn
the basement into mom's getaway!

________________________________________

2:00PM

I'm calling it quits for today in
the basement. I'm wearing out
lifting up heavy boxes and totes.
Here I was worried about not having
many boxes or totes. Now I have
tons of empty one after weeding out the stuff
from them.

Now time to think about what to have
for supper. I have a pound of
ground sausage thawed out so it
will be something made from that
whether it's a Hamburger Helper
or sausage biscuits and gravy.

7:30PM

Just back from checking out the
4 bags of cement. That didn't go
as planned. The only thing those
bags were good for was some huge
paperweights! They were all hard
as rocks. The lady didn't seem too
happy that I didn't want them.
Come on now, why would I wanna
load 4 huge 80 pound cement bricks in the
truck to drag home and do nothing with.
She knew we were building a fence
and if they were no good what did
she really expect me to do with them.

Today's weather forecast...YUCK!!

with scattered showers and

High 90 (Heat Index to 100-degrees)
Tonight: Mostly cloudy, warm and muggy
with showers and thunderstorms. Low 73

Through a RAK (Random Act of Kindness)
on one of my Yahoo groups I saw a
person giving away free hearing aid
batteries. Said they got a good
deal at Walgreens and had stocked up
on them as a Christmas gift for their
grandfather. Well I guess her grandfather
passed way recently and she wanted to
pass along the batteries onto someone
else that could use them. I responded
and got chosen for them, yeah! They are
the exact size batteries I have been getting
for my step dad either at Walgreens or Ebay.
They usually run about $10 to $15 a pack!!
But of course I try to use coupons
combined with sales to get a better deal.

----------------------

MAIL CALL

Yesterday I got 2 free samples of
Bullseye BBQ Sauce. I sent one with
Tony's lunch today with his chicken.

Also forgot to mention that I got
another FREE $25 gift card from Kroger.
Woo Hoo!
We received a total of $50 free in gift
cards for Kroger for signing up for
some kind of prescription survey.

I need 27.25 more points to get $100
in FREE gift cards from one of my
survey sites! It will have taken
me almost a year to do it but sure will
come in handy at Christmas time for
the boys at GameStop!

I also have 8 checks to deposit
from another survey site.
It's only $24 ($3 a survey).
But hey I'll take any free money I can get!
It all begins to add up over time.

Is cereal still a breakfast food
if it is mixed with butter and
marshmallows???

I went to fix the kids breakfast this
morning and realized we were out of
milk and eggs. So I decided to use
up some regular Cheerios that the kids
don't like (they like the Honey Nut kind)
and make Cheerio bars like Rice Krispy
Treats.

Years ago when we had W.I.C. and got
all those non sugared cereals that no
one would eat I would turn them into
breakfast bars like above. You could
add nuts, raisins, dried fruit and
what not to them to jazz them up.

Lucky for me this morning I was
able to find a stash of marshmallows
in the freezer. If you have opened
marshmallow you can freeze them to
help preserve their freshness.
Just thaw before using.
If not they will turn rock hard
if left out.

Since the Suburban seem to be running
well again it's time for me to head
back down to the basement and weed out
some more. Time to fill the back
end of the 'Burban up with crap and
haul it outta here!

What better place to be on a hot day
like today, the basement!

Plus with the 'Burban we will now be
able to do some DDn. I couldn't imagine
doing that with the tracker!
But it's been a half way decent lil
bugger with gas savings.
Still need to get the windows tinted.
But can't exactly do that when Tony
is driving it to work.

Drove by UV last night and all is
still quiet. Will check back this
weekend though. Let the rush begin!!

Got 1 large box and 2 medium

Not done for today.
Taking a break to have a

Waiting to see if this storm
is gonna roll through our area.
Looks like it could stay North.

of the larger rec room area.

Gotta be in the right frame of

Got my fingers crossed at the moment.
I saw an ad on Freecycle for
four 80 pound bags of quickrete.
This would be perfect for the fence

Gonna sit back and keep hoping
they pick me for it!!!

If I got chosen the all I would
need is one more 40 pound bag
to do the back/side fence.

I go pick up the free quickrete
bags tomorrow. They are only about

Can you believe this?
FREE hearing aid batteries

all in one day!!

I'm loving it!!!!

believe it.

Yesterday I took a bookshelf out of
our bedroom. I temporarily put it in
the living room before taking it
to the basement. The animals have
taken it over!! This is what I found
this morning, LOL!

Lookie my new bunk bed for critters.

FYI, the bookshelf and both
tower fans were college move out
finds. One fan this year, one fan
last year and the shelf from a
couple years ago.
I think all our fans around here
were found. And I also found
one of those Ionic Breeze towers
last year.
Getting psyched for this year!

11:30AM

So much for our bedroom. I completely
transformed it into a man room for Tony.
It was either this or he was wanting
a curio to display all his NASCAR stuff
in our living room. So I opted for
a bedroom tucked away that can be
behind closed doors if need be.

Now I just stand back and think,
"what the hell have I done!"

Looks like a kids room, lol.
The boys are jealous and now
Jonathan wants to do away with
his baseball themed room and
go to a car room with old cars,
muscle cars and racing.
AHHHH! Not this year!!

I do have this wallpaper border
if Jonathan wanted it. BUT I ain't
doing it right now or this year!!

_______________________________

1:00PM

Just a heads up!!

Was in kitchen getting my chicken
prepped for the crock pot when Jonathan
said someone was out front tinkering
with our mailbox and looking in it.
I washed my hands
and went to have a look see.
It was a lady delivering the Yellow
Book Phone Book. She was down the street
by then. I had already gotten mail out
earlier when the mailman came so that
was good. I had my camera and was trying
to take a picture of her and the van
but the damn thing ended up with a
blurred picture trying to zoom in on it
and she was driving away.
Actually I did not see a plate on the
back of this dark blue conversion van.
But anyway I contacted Yellow Book
to make them aware of this situation
and am hoping to hear back from them.
THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED, NOR IS ANYONE ALLOWED,
OTHER THAN THE MAILMAN AND THE OWNER OF
THE MAILBOX, TO GET INTO YOUR MAILBOX
BY LAW!!!
Gonna go take another look at neighbor's
mail boxes to see if they were messed
with and left open. Didn't see
anything out of the ordinary.

When working at an apartment
complex they always tell you
to keep an eye out for suspicious
activity. To me this was suspicious.
There's too many people getting scammed,
having identity theft and checks
in the mail stolen.
________________________________________

1:30-2:00PM

Got the chickie in the crock.
Skinned 4- chicken breasts.
Coated with olive oil then
put a seasoned rub on it.
I greased some aluminum
sheets with butter
and placed chicken breasts in
center. Folded up the foil.
In the crock I placed a half
can of flat beer into the bottom.
Then, because I ran out of
aluminum foil, I crushed a few
beer cans and placed on the bottom
for the chicken to rest on.

6:00PM

Time for supper.
Chicken is so juicy!
Topped chicken with Habanero
shredded cheese and tomato slices.
Served with a side of corn
and spicy pasta.

Of course there was a kids
version to this, lol.
They had cheesy broccoli
rice, corn and chicken
was topped with sharp cheddar
cheese.

This evening after supper Tony went and
took a cat nap. I went out and put the
new rotor button, distributor cap and wires
on the truck along with hooking back up the air
hoses. He had no clue.
Truck runs like a champ
again, thank goodness, no more rough idle.
Went and put some more gas in the tank
and poured a half bottle of Sea Foam
Treatment in the tank.

Tony was so proud of me! Says he's
going back to work tomorrow to tell
the guys I fixed his truck, LOL!
This was easy stuff, bring on something
harder to do, lol.
I had a 75 Chevy pickup years ago with
a 350 motor also. I taught myself to work on it
through repair manuals. This Suburban
is pretty much the same thing with a few
add ons like anti-lock brakes and computers.

I'd rather try natural home remedies
first!

Everyone says I read too much!
How do you read too much? I thought
reading and becoming knowledgeable
about things was good for the brain.
Reading makes you aware of what
is going on around you that you
wouldn't normally have known
otherwise about. Those secrets
they keep from the public and don't
want you to know about.

How many doctors do you know of
offer holistic healing (home remedies
with herbs and other natural products)
instead of getting you to pop more
pills?? NONE! And do you know why?
They can actually get in trouble
for doing so.
You have to look for other places
outside any doctor's office or
hospital!

I can literally say that one of
our doctors was even against taking
vitamins!! It was a question I asked
when we discovered Tony had diabetes.
I thought he should start taking
a vitamin supplement and the doctor
said they don't do any good!
I went with my better judgment
and started him on vitamins anyway!

I do have a strong belief that a lot
of these pharmaceutical companies
do more harm than good.

How many law firm commercials are you
seeing on tv about recent drugs that
have hit the market and have caused
death, disabilities or birth defects?

How many commercials are you seeing
now that advertise prescription
medicines?

We didn't see this years ago on tv!
It's because drug companies
are getting away with way too much now!
Back then they were monitored more
closely! Now they have multi billion
dollar companies and pretty much
do what they want.

This is exactly what I am talking about!
Keep from being the next victim of
being a guinea pig for these
pharmaceutical companies.

Straight from Mercola, and I feel the same way!!

Another Reason to Take Control of Your Health

Drug companies are not looking out for you; they are looking out for their profits and they are now in full collusion and cooperation with the government. The government has long ago abandoned its role to protect you and your family from these pernicious forces, now they are partners in crime to pillage as much as they can from you and your family.

You need to understand that any corporation's primary and essential responsibility is to their shareholders -- NOT to you -- and the sooner you realize this, the better.

Drug companies have accumulated so much wealth, power and government influence that so far they have been able to largely escape any serious consequences that would prevent them from changing their ways.

So until real systemic change takes place, your best health strategy is quite simply to employ and maintain a naturally healthy lifestyle that will optimize your body’s innate healing abilities and minimize your need for the drug companies’ latest concoctions.

And here are some top drug stories for
today...

Studies Prove that These Drugs Make Your Brain Stop Working…

They include such common over-the-counter brands as Benadryl, Dramamine, Excedrin PM, Nytol, Sominex, Tylenol PM, and Unisom.

Other anticholinergic drugs, such as Paxil, Detrol, Demerol and Elavil are available only by prescription.

And here is a remedy for the upcoming
cold and flu season.

It's pretty much a known fact
that all those OTC for colds
and flu do nothing for you!!
So here is an easy remedy to
PREVENT it this year.

Vitamin D is growing in popularity as a way to prevent flu. Current medical research has identified a correlation between seasonal Vitamin D levels and influenza. The more sun, the less illness. The less sun, the more flu. Research has also shown that vitamin D prevents respiratory infections in adults and children.
Lots of flu remedies provide flu relief, but Vitamin D actually prevents flu. It is especially effective at preventing respiratory illness making it a perfect flu medicine. Here's how to use vitamin D safely and effectively.
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Step 1

Buy the D3 form of vitamin D. According to the US National Institutes of Health, the D3 form of Vitamin D is much more effective than other types. In addition the Vitamin D council reports that other forms of vitamin D can cause hypercalcemia, very high levels of calcium in the blood, which can be dangerous. D3, however, is a safe flu remedies and does not cause hypercalcemia. D3 is available in 1,000 iu increments, over-the-counter, at pharmacies and other retailers. Larger increments of Vitamin D are more easily found online

VITAMIN D3 SUPPLIERS

Step 2

Take 5,000 iu of D3 per day, for adults, when healthy to boost the immune system and prevent flu. The Vitamin D Council recommends 1,000 iu for children under the age of 1 and 2,000 iu for children between the ages of 2-4 years. From the ages of 4 through 9 the suggested dose is 3000 iu. At the age of 10, children may take the adult dose of Vitamin D.

Step 3

Increase the D3 dose at the first sign of illness to 10,000 iu for adults. Higher doses have been used in human during medical studies without ill effects, but 10,000 iu is currently the highest recommended dose. However, if flu relief does not result after a few days, you may want to consider increasing the vitamin D dose. Consult a pediatrician for the correct dose for children. An alternative to taking a supplement would be to expose skin to the sun at midday for 15-20 minutes.

Step 4

Drink water while taking D3. While unconfirmed, there have been rare reports of kidney stones as a result of vitamin D supplementation. This can be avoided with adequate fluid intake to maintain proper hydration.

Step 5

Combine Vitamin D with other vitamin supplements known to boost the immune system. In particular, take zinc, vitamin C, vitamin A and vitamin E.

8-3-10

I hate bill day and today is that day
for me. Hoping to get a bonus
from Tony's work but have been hearing
that for the past month or so. Still
got doctor bills to pay, a truck
to repair and
fence panels and cement to buy.
Money just flies outta here like it's
nothing. So feeling bummed as usual
when money starts dwindling down.
If need be I can find stuff during
the college move outs and sell stuff online
to get the bank account back up.
Plus have a few cars to sell. I hate
selling cars and dealing with people!
Tonight we're going out to dinner,
then have to stop by the parts store
then Kroger to get prescriptions.
Someone's always got their hand
out somewhere!

Well gotta take laundry down off
the line and hang up another load.
What are kids doing to go through
so many clothes in one week?
Are they magnetically attracted
to dirt and puddles?

Got a load of laundry taken off the line,
a load washed and put on the line
and a load in the washer.
Should have 1 more load to do.
I got a little behind and don't
think I got but 1 or 2 loads
done last week so am making up
for that this week.

Currently working on weeding out,
decluttering and cleaning our bedroom.
I have a large bookshelf that I want
to take out of our bedroom and relocate
to the basement. I think this would
make an excellent shelf to put
VHS movies on. I have a ton of those!

Eventually I will get back to the
basement. Right now I am working
on the upstairs. That way if I find
stuff that needs to go to the basement
it can go down there now. Then
I can figure out where everything
will go down there when cleaning.
Don't want any surprises in the end
trying to figure out where stuff is
to go.

Break time is over so back to the bedroom
or outdoors to check laundry.
Calgon take me away!!!!!!!!!!!

Homemade OxiClean

1 cup hot water
1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide
1/2 cup baking soda

Mix together and soak laundry in it for 20 minutes to overnight and then wash as usual. Or you can just skip the water and pour the peroxide and baking soda directly into the wash with your laundry soap and wash as usual.

I seen that Sutherlands is having
a sale on their solar lights.
They have a 6 pack for $5.99.
That's $1.00 a light. They've
got to be better than those solar
lights I saw a Dollar Tree.

I want to put them on top the
fence panel posts going around the yard
for extra security.
Tony didn't like the idea
of drilling out the top of the posts
to set the stakes in there so I thought
about getting some U brackets
and putting the stake part
down inside that instead and screwing
them in the fence.

Supper at Texas Roadhouse was wonderful!
After we went to Advance Auto Parts.
Told the guy my step dad worked for them
and he ended up giving me a 20% discount
even though my step-dad wasn't there to
get it for us. Very nice guy! Saved like
$11. Got a rotor button, distributor cap
and a can of Sea Foam. Never heard of
Sea Foam additive before but saw it online
and read reviews. It was given a 5 star
rating, even the guy at Advance said it
was good. So tomorrow gonna give it
a try in the Suburban. It says it
helps rough idle and hesitation.
It's supposed to clean out carbon
and any other gook that might be
slowing an engine down.
