Here is something about coupons I did not know
until today.
I was confused about my sales
tax at Walgreens when my total came to .99
cents and I was charged .40 cents sales tax.
I thought it should of been about 6-7 cents.
Here is what I researched online:
If you use regular manufacture coupons that reimburse
the stores the value of the coupons then
you pay tax on the total amount after the coupons
are taken off.
Now if you use a store coupons such as a Walgreens
coupon that does not get reimbursed by a manufacture
then you get taxed on the price before that coupon.
**********
Even though that is what it states online
I am still having a hard time understanding
how it works.
Today I was charged tax on the full price
of $5.99
I had a $2.00 off Walgreens coupon
and a $3.00 off manufacture coupon
my total was .99 cents
plus .40 cents tax.
Ohio Franklin County sales tax is 6.75%
Shouldn't I have only been taxed for $2.99?
That would have been full price minus
the manufacture coupon.
The remaining balance of $2.99 would have been before
the Walgreens coupon that you can get taxed on.
I AM SO LOST ON TRYING TO FIGURE THIS
CRAP OUT. IF SOMEONE CAN PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS
TO ME I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
WHY AM I BEING CHARGED TAX FOR FULL PRICE
OF ITEM PURCHASED AFTER GIVING
A MANUFACTURE COUPON???
