10:30am

Tony's still in St Anns.
His leg still hurts and is still red and swollen.
The doctors are going to come in
today to see if they need to drain the
fluid from his knee area to reduce
the swelling.
So at the moment I am guessing
he won't be coming home today
with no improvements.

Last night in the waiting room was
a family who was in tears including
small children.
I don't know if anyone saw on the news
that North of Johnstown (I think)
a lady went left of center and ran head
on with a tanker truck. She was a grandma
and had died at the accident.
She had her 5 year old grandson with her
who was rushed to St. Anns.
He was then life flighted over to Children's
where he is on life support.
I guess the grandfather was following behind
in another vehicle and saw the
accident happen.
Can you imagine seeing that happen.
You would be traumatized for life!
So if ever you think you've got it bad
there is someone worse off than you are!!

Tony's mom says she's gonna visit him today.
Says she read about cellulitis online
and printed it out for him to read.
Don't know why as we know what it is,
and this is the second time we've dealt
with it. Because if we didn't know what it
was we'd still be sitting at home
listening to the family doctor and urgent care
doctors advice and taking their meds!

I think at around 2pm today will be a full
day of having antibiotics run through the IV.
You would think you would start seeing
some improvements.
They won't let him have any of the prescription
medicines we brought in.
Don't know if they think they are tainted or what
but they've been giving him ones from their
pharmacy.

11:30am

I should be getting myself and the kids
ready to head up to St. Anns.
We need to stop by Krogers on the way
to get him some real food to take up there to eat.
You know how hospital food can be, lol.
No doctors have come in to see him
yet today, only nurses. I wonder if
his family doctor show up and make
an appearance to check out his patient, ha ha ha.
That's when I'd like to do the finger pointing
and say, there's the doctor that doesn't
know what he's doing.
I just wonder if the family doctor had put him
on antibiotics Monday if we'd be going through
this crap at the moment!!!

2:10pm

Just back from the hospital.
Tony said on top of getting his
diabetic medicine orally they've also
been giving him insulin shots in the
arms and stomach.
His knee/leg redness has gone down slightly.
Lets say yesterday it was as red as a cherry
and today it's red like a strawberry to give you
that kind of visual.
His mom and dad and a friend from
work are supposed to visit him also
this afternoon.
I haven't seen them replace the antibiotic
bag on the IV which was empty since yesterday evening.
His family doctor has yet to make a visit.
Another doctor from the hospital
came in this morning and said
they didn't feel the need to drain
any fluid/infection in his knee area.

For those who don't know what
Cellulitis is or has never heard of it
you can read more about it HERE.

--------------------------

3:40pm

Tony's parents are at the hospital with him.

4:45pm

Tony's parents left about a half hour ago.
Now his friend from work is on
his way up there with a pizza for him.

We are eating supper at the moment
then will head back up to the hospital
around 6-6:30pm.

I am so tired. Don't know if it's
because I don't have much of an appetite
or the running back and forth to the hospital
or stress.
It don't feel right being the weekend
and it's been just me and the kids
here by ourselves.
At least they haven't given me
much trouble.

4:50pm

Tony's friend & coworker is at the
hospital now. He brought him a
pizza! Much better than hospital food
that's for sure!
I'm sure other patients can smell
it and are jealous!

--------------------------------

7:40pm

Back from the hospital.
He was almost done with his second bag
of antibiotics.
The redness is still there but slightly less
from yesterday.
Our friend from work was also there
visiting when we stopped in.
I told you he was also receiving
insulin shots but I guess they
are giving him shots in his belly as well
to prevent any blood clots.
They gave him one while we were there
and I couldn't look.
Still don't know when he will come home :0(
I am so tired so are hoping
to head to bed in the near future!

3:15pm

I just now got home from the hospital.
We left for the hospital after the kids
got on the bus at 8:25am.
I was correct with MY diagnosis of him.
He does have cellulitis.
They will be keeping him for the next day
or two at St. Anns. He has an IV
which they are giving him antibiotics in
along with saline.
I just talked to Tony on the phone and he
said two doctors came in and said they
might go in and drain his knee of any
fluids. At the moment I am home
waiting for the kids to get off the bus
then will be fixing them some supper.
Then back to the hospital this evening
to see him with the kids.
The hospital does have WiFi so will
be taking him his computer so he
has something to do.

------------------------------

I just checked and Jelly Belly has
posted my Dinosaur Cupcake if
you would like to check it out.

I realize the contest isn't over til July
but the $10,000 prize is sounding good
right about now with so many doctor bills
adding up left and right and that's with insurance!
Don't want to see how much this visit
to the ER and a couple days stay in the
hospital will cost!
But I don't care as long as he's
getting the medical attention he needs
at the moment. At least some of these
doctor's know what they are doing!
2 visits to the family doctor, 1 to urgent care
and now to the hospital since Monday!!
Exactly 2 months since I went
to St. Anns in the ambulance!

-----------------------------------

4:20pm

I just checked my mail.
Can you believe Pep Boys sent me one of
my rebates in the form of a post card!!
Now picture a post card (no envelope)
that looks like a check on the front
and the endorsement area on the back.
Ya know there's a reason most
companies put their checks in a safety
envelope, to keep criminals from
knowing what's inside! This is ridiculous
that any Tom, Dick or Harry can see my
check and know how much it is for!!
And we wonder why we have identity
theft and people stealing money
from our accounts!

I got Tony some personal items and
his computer packed up for the hospital.
It's nice to have things from home
when you are away from home to
make you feel more comfortable.

Wanna know another crazy thing since
I've been surrounded by stupid people lately?
I brought all of Tony's meds to the hospital
in a gallon zip bag. You should either
bring them with you or write down all your
meds you take when going to the doctor or hospital.
I told him I would
put them in the dresser drawer in his room
so he would have his diabetic medicine to take.
The nurse says, that's ok, you can take those
home, we'll send up diabetic medicine from
the hospital pharmacy for him.
I told her, that's ok, these meds are cheaper!!
The medicine from your pharmacy will
probably cost $10 a pill!!
Heck I'm pretty sure they charge you
about $5.00 for a dose of Tylenol!!
This is absolutely crazy if you ask me.
Why when you have your medicine with you
would they want you to get some from their
pharmacy and charge you outrageous
prices!! This is so freaking stupid!!
I may be stressed, I may be tired
and I may be crazy, but I sure as
heck ain't dumb!
The meds are still there in his drawer!

And another thing.
When I found out they we're keeping him
for a couple days I told him I was going to
the truck to have a cigarette (or two since
it had been 4 hours since my last one!)
and to call mom and let her know
what was going on.
Well the nurse heard me say that and said
there is no smoking on the hospital property.
I said even in my own vehicle!?
She said again, no smoking on the property
anywhere.
That's when I turned to Tony and said
once again, I'm GOING to go have a smoke
and call mom!
I can understand not smoking by entrance ways
and such but my vehicle was parked way far
away from the door and in the middle
of a big parking lot. I wasn't hurting
anyone! What did they really expect me to do,
get in my truck and drive over to Sharon
Woods and smoke a cigarette, come on now!
Then I guess after I left the nurse asked Tony
if he smoked and he said no.
Then she said now would be a good time
for your wife to quit!
NOW WOULD BE A GOOD TIME!!???
Yeah, sure, right!
My husbands admitted to a freaking
hospital with an infection in his leg,
they're searching for possible blood clots
and possibly inserting tools
to drain fluid from his leg
AND YOU WANT ME TO QUIT SMOKING NOW!!??
I told you I've been surrounded by
stupid people!

10:15am

Here's a couple more jelly bean cupcakes
I've done.
The Southern Belle I made this morning.
I go today to pick up a few reserved cupcake
books from the library. Need some ideas
because at the moment I'm kind of
at a stand still.

--------------------------------------

12:00pm

Tony is off work for the rest of the week.
Some of the redness on his knee/leg
area has went away.
I think all the doctor's are wrong
with their diagnosis!!
My gut feeling says it's CELLULITIS!!
I'd almost bet on it at the moment.
I don't think it's torn ligaments in
the knee or anything like that
like both doctors have told him.
If we go back to the doctors I'm gonna
tell them my diagnosis and see what they say!

---------------------------------

7:25pm

Went to Kroger to pick
up a pain medication for Tony.
There's still some Christmas stuff
that keeps getting marked down more and more.
Tonight I got:

2 Large pkg Tic Tacks .25 cents each

Christmas colored & shaped bags of marshmallows
.25 cents each
I bought all they had, 8 bags.

And I also found 2 displays of books
that were marked down to $1.00 each!!
And to think I was just in the library tonight
and their hard back used books were $2 each!

Christopher got: Ships, regular price of $6.49

Jonathan got: 2 Speed Racer novels
regular price $2.99 each

I got:
2 brownie cookbooks regular $6.49 each.
and an
Oprah Winfrey Magazine Cookbook
regular price of $8.99
(will make a nice birthday gift for mom next month!)

Without using any coupons on this trip to
Kroger and buying marked down items
my receipt said I saved $41.00!!

I looked at Kroger for some Tootsie Rolls.
Could not find them anywhere!
Where oh where have the Tootsie Rolls gone,
oh where oh where can they be???

Tony asked the pharmacist to take
a look at his leg, so he came out to
the waiting area.
And guess what the pharmacist
thought was wrong with it?????
CELLULITIS
See I told ya I thought that's what
it was as well. But do you think a
damn doctor can see it, hell no!
The redness has gone down a bit.
Imagine his entire calf being just as red!
Now it seems to be lingering
around the knee area.
This is not a scuff or cut!
It's a bacteria infection that gets into
the skin.
And if I don't see any more improvement
in the near future from the oral antibiotics pills
then I will take him to the ER where
he can be administered antibiotics
through an IV.

-------------------------------

8:45pm

Working on another jelly belly cupcake.
It's been one I've been wanting to create
for awhile but didn't know how til now.
Kinda glad Kroger didn't have the
tootsie rolls because I went with
candy circus peanuts instead
which seem to be working better!
So stayed tuned to see the newest one!

------------------------------

9:20pm

Dinosaur Cupcake
Ain't he cute!
This one took me awhile to
figure out how to do.
Well I'm gonna go enter it now
then maybe take a hot bath.
Got a bad headache at the moment
and am waiting for the ibuprofen to kick in!
Guess my mind has been thinking too much!

I think tomorrow morning once the kids
get on the bus I'm gonna take Tony
to the ER. This has been going on
since last Saturday.
He has the on call pager next week
and at the rate he's going I don't
know how he'll do it!!

--------------------------------

11:45am

Tony is so miserable, in so much pain
and can't hardly walk. The pain medicine
isn't working for him at all!
His leg/knee hurts whether sitting,
laying or standing.
Considering the emergency room
in the near future!!
It doesn't look like he'll be returning
to work the rest of the week!
There's no way. Hell he can't
hardly walk to the bathroom!
Last night he was back and forth
with cold chills (fever) and being hot
and sweating. He's been taking his meds.

-----------------------------

This was from this morning.
We had a ton of Robins in our trees!
They were eating the red berries.
.
..

--------------------------------------

Milk went from $1.99
to 2.29 to $2.49
and tonight I paid $2.69 at Kroger!
This is crazy!
Won't be long before it's $3.00 a gallon,
almost as much as gas!

-------------------------------

7:25pm

Tony's pain medicine seems to be working
enough to take the edge off.
But it can sometimes give him
an upset stomach even if he takes
it with a meal.

You have a stockpile and a pantry
but don't know what to make.
Try RECIPE KEY.
Drag and drop the ingredients
you have on hand and it will try
and match a recipe for you
using the ingredients you have.

--------------------------------------

8:40am

Uh oh, I'm seeing the first snowflakes fall.
They weren't falling 1o minutes ago
standing at the bus stop.
I've heard 2-4" and 3-6"
on different stations.
So guess we'll just wait and see
what nature has in store for us.

Getting ready to make some
French bread in the bread machine.
Well, I'll let the bread machine do
the mixing and kneading then I get
to take it out and do the rest.

9:00am

Got dough going in bread machine.
My machine has a French bread cycle on it.

I've been keeping our heat at a steady
70 degrees in our home.
Trying to get the electric & gas
bill down some.
I don't think anyone notices and if
they do, they dress appropriately
and put on a sweater or warmer clothing.
But if it feels too chilly in here with
all this snow coming or wind chills
go into the single digits or minuses,
then I might put it back up to 72/73 degrees.

-------------------------------

11:00am

I am still pissed at Tony's doctor.

Saturday when we went to the train
show Tony started experiencing severe
knee pain and had difficulty walking.
Later that evening there was a slight pop
in his knee and his knee felt better.
I wondered if something had gotten out
of place and worked it's way back in place
and that what was causing the pain.
It was still a little sore but he was able
to get around.

Anyway yesterday Tony told his doctor about
what had been going on with his knee.
The doctor twisted and moved his knee & leg in
all different directions. He said it was swollen
and gave him a Naproxen prescription.
Never said what the problem was or
what may be causing it.

Last night Tony's knee was so swelled,
red and inflamed from the doctor
moving things around it wasn't funny.

I said, to me it sound like a car repair shop.
You take a car in to be repaired and they
only cause more problems and more
repairs to be made because
of something they did wrong.

Now Tony calls and is in so much
severe pain with his knee he is leaving work!
That is not like him to come home from work!
Obviously his doctor isn't doing his job
for him to be in extreme pain like this.
I'm not even sure how he is gonna drive home!
And I still haven't gotten over the fact
the doctor said he'd get in trouble
if Tony didn't get an eye exam.
I am like so done with this doctor it ain't funny.
Next time Tony needs an appointment
I WILL be requesting that he see my doctor instead!!

11:42am

Tony's leaving work and heading
to Urgent Care of Upper Arlington to
go get checked out. It's good to know
that this place has an xray machine
in case he needed xrays of his knee.
Will keep you posted.

--------------------------

11:50am

Swift Justice with Nancy Grace
has people on there from
Blacklick, Ohio.

-----------------------------

12:40pm

Tony is still at urgent care.
They took xrays so are awaiting
to see what they say.
He said on the way there he hadn't
had the truck in 4x4 and spun it
sideways in the road.
I just checked the list for school
closings and still nothing for Columbus!

-------------------------------

12:55pm

The townships snowplow just
started plowing our street.

--------------------------------------

2:00pm

Update on Tony:

They say he has torn ligaments in his knee.
They did xrays.
They wrapped his knee up in bandages
and put him on 2 prescriptions.
Not sure exactly what they are yet til
he gets home, I think one is an anti inflamatory.
He told urgent care that all his doctor
gave him was Naproxin. They said
for what he had that stuff was too low
of a dose and wouldn't of worked
for his torn ligaments.
When looking at his legs you can visually
see the one knee cap but the other leg
is so swollen that the knee cap is not
visible. And his knee is very hot!
Urgent care almost put a needle
into his knee cap to drain some fluid
but decided upon the medications first.
They said if there is no difference in
3-4 days to go to a doctor they
referred. They actually wanted him
to take the next week off of work but Tony
says he is only taking tomorrow off.

Oh it's still eating at me about the
family doctor,

-oh do this so I don't get in trouble.

-forgot to call in 2 prescriptions
but was able to call in the other 4.
Said he wanted him to start testing
his blood sugar but doesn't call
in any testing meters or strips like he said he would.

-misdiagnoses his knee and doesn't
give him proper medication for that.

-Then when Tony went in this morning
for blood work and asks the doctor
a few questions the doctor says,
"what was it we were seeing you for!!!"
HELLO, it's been less than 24 hours
and he forgot that fast!!!!

SO DONE, SO SO DONE WITH
Dr. Padamadan (OSU)!!!

----------------------------

With all the snow and not going out
too much in the near future doing any shopping,
(I probably won't get to Meijer this week)
I went to the Columbus Public Library's
web site and reserved a bunch of books.
Will give me something to do on one
of those cold nights cuddled up under
the blankie watching tv.
The library is only a block or so away
so shouldn't be too hard to get to
in this snow.

Supper

Bruschetta- Homemade French bread topped

---------------------------------

8:00pm

Having a most wonderful evening.
Now Tony has the chills
and a fever on top of his knee pain.
He says the knee pain hurts worse
than his diabetic nerve pain in his feet.
I've never heard him say something
has been more painful than his feet
so this knee must hurt extremely bad!
It doesn't matter if he stands, sits
or lays, it's all the same.

Winter Storm Warning for Tuesday
from channel 4

Several weather bulletins will go into effect after midnight tonight. Here in Columbus we will be under a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 3am and continuing through the day tomorrow. Just south of Franklin County a Winter Storm Warning will be posted for the same time period.

Models that take the storm from western Kentucky into eastern Ohio would give us 2-4 inches of snow across Columbus. Pockets of heavier snow, on the order of 3"-5", are possible just southeast of I-71 with lesser amounts around 1-3 inches to our north and northwest.

11:15am

Tony just called. He said he went to go
into a vacant apartment to start working on it
and he unlocked the door only to find the chain
was on the door, hmmm. He shut the door
and went to the office to tell them. He returned to
the apartment with a lady from the office
and another maintenance guy.
By this time the chain was off the door
and they entered and found a homeless guy
living in the apartment.
He said someone had given him a key.
So that still remains a mystery as
to where he got it from.
Tony's comment: this guy was scary
looking, scraggly with dread locks in his hair.
Not someone you would want to meet
in a dark alley!

I remember those days of homeless people
staying in the hallways of the last apartment
complex I worked at! Never actually saw
any of them but the remains of things
they left behind under stairs would be there.
They would even go as far as crapping and
urinating on the floor!!
Sad but gross thought!

--------------------------

Tony's funny. We were talking about
the possible snow storm coming tomorrow
and he asked if we had enough of certain food
items in the house to get by on.
I don't need any store, I shop my basement pantry.
Bet the stores will be packed tonight!
That's the great thing about having a stockpile
to eat from in case you get snowed in
or roads are too bad to travel on.
And if you would happen to lose power
for several hours/days put your freezer/fridge
items outside in a cooler or box
to keep animals out.

Woo Hoo!
I wasn't lucky enough though yesterday
to get the Tide To Go.

Well I'm gonna go and work on supper.
Took my cheesy potatoes out of the freezer
I made up ahead of time. Plan to
cut up some Italian sausage and add to it.

Cheesy Potatoes: $1.73
Italian Sausage $1.40

TOTAL COST $3.13
Serves 5 @ .34 cents a serving.

8:15pm

Had to make a run to Kroger to pick up
Tonys meds. He had a doctor's appointment
today and the doctor called them in to the pharmacy.
He got 4 but didn't get pain pills or
diabetic testing strips. The doctor
was supposed to of called them in
but obviously failed to do so.
Tony will have to ask him about it
tomorrow morning when he goes
back to the doctor to have blood work done.
I bet they charge him another copay
for a continuation of today's visit.
I don't know why they just couldn't
have done that today during his visit!
I'm not one for doctors.
And you can see why with all this crap.

Tony brings home a paper from his doctor
about getting his eyes checked. His doctor
said, you need to do this within the next
two week or the doctor said he would
get in trouble. When Tony told me that,
it pissed me off! If any doctor told me
I needed to do something so they didn't get
in trouble I'd tell them this.
I am the patient and I have my rights
to deny any health services!!
I'll do what I want to do whether you
like it or not! And it's not right
to have a doctor tell you they would
get in trouble if you didn't do something!!
Hell if I am in a hospital admitted
awaiting an operation and I decided
I wanted to get up and leave my hospital
bed and the hospital, that is my right!
We were already planning to have
Tony's eyes checked when we get our
tax refund. If that had been me in that
doctor's office and the doc said I needed
my eyes checked within two weeks
I'd of held out my hand and said are you
paying for it??!!

--------------------

We had to stop in Speedway to get gas
before the snow storm tomorrow.
The truck was in the red on the gas gauge!
I sat in the truck while Tony went in and
paid then pumped the gas.
After he filled up and started to get in
the truck the employee comes over the
intercom and says, sir you need to pay
for your gas!!
This station was on Kenny Rd.
and there was only a handful of cars there
at the pumps.
Tony stomps back inside the station
and told them he was just in there and paid
for his gas. Boy people have a short
term memory I swear.
Gonna try and get us for a paid drive off!!

-------------------------------

Tomorrow I might try my hand
at making some French bread
and using it to make
Mushroom Swiss Bruschetta.
I have made neither before so this
will be interesting!
Maybe make pasta & sauce to go with it.

12:00pm

We're getting a "new" dishwasher today
from Tony's boss.
It's an $800+, 2 year old dishwasher for $100.
Stainless steel tub, hidden controls,
quiet running and doesn't require scrubbing
dishes ahead of time!
Trying to upgrade our dishwasher with
one that is more efficient.
This could save us $40 a year.

His boss bought all new stainless steel
appliances. He paid allot of money for
a newer stainless steel dishwasher
and they say it does not clean as well
as the one they are selling us!!

We're also wanting to purchase a new
side-by-side refrigerator that is more efficient
with an energy star rating.
Our fridge is late 80's to early 90's model.
This could save us $100 a year!
We saw a new side-by-side fridge
at Sears Outlet for as low as $350!
It had ice and water in door.
Plus we wouldn't have to use our
water cooler anymore. Which I read
that some water coolers can use as much
or even more electric than a refrigerator
depending if it has hot and cold spouts.

Check out ENERGY STAR
for more information on how to save money with
more efficient items in your home.

Other Energy Star savings we have:

Replaced old tube tv with lcd.
Lcd tvs use 40% less energy.

We replaced our freezer when we moved into
our home with one that was 2 years old.
By doing this it saves us up to $35 a year!

We've done away with using desk
top computers and now use laptops.
typical laptops uses 20–90 Watts, compared to 100–800 Watts for desktops.

So by making little changes over
time by replacing your appliances or electronics
could help you save a bunch of money!!
This is not something that happens overnight
due to the cost.

3:50pm

Went & picked up our dishwasher.
Tony's boss was nice enough to
also give us the over the range microwave
(about 6 years old).
Can't pick that up though til tomorrow
or Tuesday due to space in the truck.
I guess his boss is taking back their
new dishwasher and getting another
kind since they don't like the new on
they got. He was telling us he saw
the exact dishwasher that we're buying
from him at the store now for $1,100!!

We stopped by Kroger on the way home
to pick up some milk & pop.
Here's some mark downs I found when there:

-2 half gallons eggnog .49 cents each
-gallon milk $1.29 doesn't expire til 1-15.
(reg $2.50)
-package salami $1.29 (reg. $2.50)
-large can of coffee $2.99 (reg. $5.99)
-boxes of bacon $1.00 each (reg. $2.99)

Not marked down but on sale:

-Kroger Doritos $1.67
-Kroger Italian sausage $1.40

I also saw large packages of pork chops,
about 10 chops, reg. $15 marked down to $6.80.
Didn't get any since I am already stocked
up with pork chops and have limited
freezer space.
.

Well we are getting ready to haul
in the dishwasher. Can't let it sit out
in the truck. More than likely it has water
in the lines and if left out in freezing
cold temps it will freeze.

Neither me nor mom are doing any
major grocery shopping this week.
If I do go with her to the store I will
only be shopping for the cheapies or
freebies items.
Hoping to spend around $10.00 or less.
So here is my list for this week for Meijers:

4 Ronzoni Garden Delight pastas $2.00

4 Ronzoni Healthy Harvest Pasta $2.00

4 Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta $2.00

2 bags green giant vegetables- FREE

1 head lettuce

Italian & Ranch dressing

It's been 1 month yesterday and I have yet to hear
from the car lot where we purchase our car.
No instrument cluster and no car lot owner
at my door delivering it like he promised.
Too bad I feel like crap to wanna go chew
them another butt hole at the moment.
They already have several thanks to me, lol.
At the moment if I get worked up about
anything it gives me a coughing fit.
Heck going up and down the stairs
to do laundry gives me fits.
