Had the kids try on some jeans I
found. Measured, hemmed and cut
them to their length.
Turned one into a pair of shorts
since there was holes in them.

Can't beat free name brand jeans
so I can deal with hemming things.

I am thinking about getting
a couple pants extenders
to make the kids jeans/pants
last longer as they grow.



I got searching for and pricing
these waist extenders and the only
place I found them was Ebay.
With shipping they would cost
$10-$13!!
That's a lil steep for me.

So I got to thinking I could make
my own and I did.

I took an old pair of jeans and cut
off the button and the button loop.
I placed them side by side on
the sewing machine and zig zag stitched
where the fabric butted up with one another.

WORKS PERFECTLY!! One of the kids is wearing
it today because the shorts I made was
just a hair too tight around the waist
but other than that fit perfectly.
So this extended them just a tad
to be worn comfortably.
I am hoping to find other jeans/pants
DDn that don't fit that I can cut
up to do the same thing to so I can
have a couple in different colors.
But if you wear a long shirt no one
will see it anyway.

I am working the courage up to call
WOW! and give them a piece of my
mind about all this and tell them
that I am considering changing
companies if they don't do something
about it OR reduce my monthly bill
to something more affordable.

This is the first time having WOW
since moving here. In the first
6 months I think they raised their
rates on me TWICE!! This to me is not
good customer service for a new
customer!!

I love our DVR and wish I could find
something to replace it with so I
would not have to pay the monthly
fees that racks up to over $100
a year!! Don't let cable companies
sucker you into thinking your
getting that DVR for free because I
can tell you that IT IS NOT!!

I really liked our Time Warner service
we had all these years. But once
we moved here we found out Time
Warner was not offered in our area.

I keep getting junk mail from Insight,
which is the only other provider in our
area, with all these deals they have
to offer that sound wonderful...UNTIL
I read the very very fine print that
one would need a magnifying glass to
read. First they do a credit check
and if you fall below their standards
they will lock you into an agreement
with them. I refuse to be locked in
any contract for these services.
The cable is in my name.
If they run a credit check what kind
of credit do you think I have being
a housewife???
Next they want to give you free cable
channels. BUT if you forget to cancel
those you will get locked into those
and have to pay for them also.
Who's going to remember a year later
to do that???
Oh yeah $60 a month sounds great
for internet, cable and phone.
BUT when I asked in the past what
the total will be each month they don't
know what I am talking about.
I say, $60 isn't what you will charge me
after you tack on all kinds of fees
for one thing or another, then there
are taxes. And by the time it's all
said and done that $60 becomes $90
to $100!! So this $60 deal isn't that
great after all.

My cable, internet and phone is $100
a month. Now want to hear of the
fees on top of that that add up to
an additional $30! That's $360 a year!

Got my gas bill today.
To my surprise, they overcharged
me about $95 in the last year.
And because of that I didn't have
to pay my gas bill this month
and probably the next 1.5 months.
WOO HOO!!

Next I got the water bill which
is running $114 for 3 months
or an average of $38 a month.
This is for a family of 4
with 2 pets.
Now I talked to a family of
2 adults with no children living
at home and no pets and their
water bill was $150!

Ewww I am so pissed. I went outside
with bowl in hand to retrieve some
apples out of the basket Kendra
dropped off. I no sooner got
out the door and noticed my kids
and neighbor kids who was playing outside
took off like a bat out of hell.
So I went around the corner to
see what was up. That's where I found
apples all over the yard.
They had been hitting them with a
baseball bat. So I lost an estimated
guess of 10-15 apples. You could
have heard me yelling at them all
down the block!! I had them pick
up all the apple pieces laying in the
yard. Needless to say
there are no more kids in the yard
at the moment. I let them come
over to play and this is the thanks
I get! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!
All I could see was wasted food
laying all over our yard!][]

Started working on juicing some
apples. I got about a gallon
made so far. I still plan
to strain this juice, maybe
boil it some, then add some
Splenda to it.

Why is it kids like to test your
talents???? AHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Jonathan comes and tells me while
he was at his friends house
across the street he pushed on
his friend's garage door along with his
friend trying to open it up and the wheel
came off. I had just taken a shower
mind you and didn't even have a comb
run through my hair. I go over
there in the backyard to check out
this garage door. Should of had
a picture of it! It looked horrible!
One of the bottom panels was almost
completely pushed in. I was determined
to fix this garage door before having
to pay for it. The mom was not
home at this house, thank goodness,
to see it. I know how much garage doors
cost, especially double doors. We priced
them once when looking to buy a house
with a garage and it needed a new double door.
I got the wheel back on track and went to
test the door by opening it. That's when
another wheel on the other upper side came
off. I got a chair from his house
and climbed up there and somehow managed
to get that wheel on track. I knew absolutely
nothing about garage doors and how to work
on them before this!! I do know that those
springs on the doors can injure and kill
people and that really scared me working
so close to them. What looked like
a mangled mess now looks back to normal,
THANK GOD!! I don't know how I did it
but I did. If there is a will there
is a way.

So much for my shower because now I look
like I crawled out from working underneath
a car with grease all over me. I had to
put on another change of clothes even.

KIDS!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!Banging head on wall.
We won't talk about the kids metal
detecting in the back yard and using
the post hole digger to make a
2 foot hole either!!!

Tony had even called me while I was going
to this person's house saying Jonathan
called him to see if he knew how to
fix a garage door. Hey, he never asked
me but calls dad and asks him?
I hope I look like super mom to them now,
LOL!

Anyway Tony told me on the phone that
we should make a trip over to UV
tonight. Fine by me, twist my arm, LOL.

Oh yeah that reminds me, I gotta go clean
out the back end of the Burban so Tony
can put his work tools in there tonight
because he is on call.

Ha, is that possible around here?
Got dishes in the dishwasher
and managed to find a moment
to comb the rat's nest outta my
hair from showering earlier.

Well Tony's home from work.
Gonna suggest to him about

Taco Bell still has their $2.00 meals,
burrito or taco sandwich, bag of
doritos and a drink.

This evening was adventurous to
say the least.

Ate at McDonalds by UV.
Tony left to go potty and
this weird guy comes over to
our table and starts talking
to us. He left soon after Tony
came out of the potty thank goodness
because he was making me a lil
uncomfortable.

Then we headed to UV. Oh yeah baby
all the move outs are a startin'.
I predict by tomorrow dumpsters
will be overflowing out into
the parking lots. They are pretty
full now.

I was driving down one street when
this idiot starts to back up right
in front of me having me slam on
brakes. I yelled out the window
that he needed to look before backing
up. Well I got told FU so I slammed on
the brakes once again stopping. He yells at me
saying bring it. I didn't move from
the middle of the street and was listening
to this idiot hollering obscenities
at me. Telling me to bring it and when
I wouldn't budge he then takes off.
College boy who is all mouth and no
action. It's not like I would
have done anything anyway. But ya know
I get cussed out and he was the one
who damn neart caused an accident.
That's Columbus drivers for ya.

I thought we did pretty good for
this evening dumpster diving.
I got a couple set of dishes,
one still new in the box.
While I was at once dumpster I
glanced over and saw someone
across the parking lot throwing
away a surround system. Yeah
I got that puppy back out.
There's other stuff I will
get to tomorrow. Will get pictures
tomorrow also.

Kendra- I got you
what looked like one of those
bed in a bags for a double bed.
I think it had the colors of
green and red. Comforter green
design and sheets a red checkered
pattern.

Then from UV we stopped by Kroger
in the shopping center. Me
and Christopher went in.
When I was in the checkout Tony
came in and said the pager went
off. He said it was the police
calling. They were contacted through
the alarm system at the property.
The silent alarm at the rental office
was set off. So we raced over there
to meet the police. The police officer
was a young boy. Looked like he just
graduated from the academy, lol.
I know he didn't have many years
under his belt. Him and Tony
walked around and through the rental
office and didn't see anything suspicious.
They think someone might have jiggled
the handle to the front door setting
off the alarm.

And that was how my evening went.
I'm pooped!!

Think I will work on making
half dollar pancakes this morning
for freezer breakfasts.

While most of the time I buy
convenient pancake mixes I don't
have any on hand and will have
to make from scratch.

Stack pancakes with a piece of
wax paper or plastic wrap in
between each one and store
in freezer zip bags.

PANCAKES

This makes four pancakes
made with 1/4 cup batter.
But because I am making
half dollar pancakes I
will get a lot more.

I sometimes like to add
chocolate chips to the pancakes.
I sprinkle them on once the
batter is already in the pan.

Ingredients

* 1 cup all-purpose flour
* 2 tablespoons white sugar
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 egg, beaten
* 1 cup milk
* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil OR
3 tablespoons melted butter
* 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Make a well in the center, and pour in milk, egg, oil & vanilla. Mix until smooth.
2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

cinnamon, to colored sprinkles,
to chocolate chip & caramel chip.

Each bag has 2 stacks of 6.
Each bag has enough for 2 breakfasts.
So a total of 10 days worth
of breakfasts.
That will last 2 school weeks.
Will give a variety of
different breakfasts each day.



Didn't get my rolls made yesterday
so might work on those today.

got me a bunch of free apples.
These people in Lockbourne allowed
others to come pick apples for
free and she got me a big tub full.

Last year I did applesauce with
all the apples she brought me.
This year I am thinking about
juicing them, freezing if
need be. I could make apple
juice for the kids school lunches.

Also got a letter from the kids
school explaining back to school

It said we can go to a Meet & Greet
on Monday at the school to meet
the kids new teachers.
They will also be giving the kids
a FREE book bag full of school
supplies! I'm all about the FREE stuff!
Plus they need to find out
who their teachers are and their
new classrooms.

Just got done mixing up
a double batch (36) of no knead cake rolls
dough.
Now time to let sit and rise
for an hour.

I only have enough ingredients to make
16 roll sandwiches so I think I
will make some cinnamon rolls
with the other 20 for breakfast
and freeze them also :0)

To make cinnamon rolls from this
exact recipe:

Ingredients

* CINNAMON MIX
* 1/4 cup butter, melted
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

* FROSTING:
* 6 tablespoons butter, softened
* 3 cups confectioners' sugar
* 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 2 tablespoons milk

You may double the cinnamon mix
if you would like.

# Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half. Roll each portion into a 14-in. x 10-in. rectangle. Brush with butter; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side. Cut each roll into 12 slices; place cut side down in two greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pans. Cover and let rise until almost doubled, about 20 minutes.
# Bake at 400 degrees F for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 20 minutes. For frosting, in a mixing bowl, cream butter, confectioners' sugar and vanilla. Add enough milk to achieve desired consistency. Frost warm rolls.

Allow to cool then place in zip bags
and put in your freezer.
Just pop in the microwave for a couple
seconds to warm up.

Divided the dough up into 16 rolls
and 17 cinnamon rolls.
They are on their second rise for
another hour.
I didn't use regular sugar on
the cinnamon rolls. Instead
I used brown sugar. In all
reality brown sugar is
regular sugar but with some
molasses mixed in.

By the time I am done making all these
breakfasts today I will have made
a total of 35 breakfast meals.
That's 7 weeks worth!!

each meal consists of either:
3 dollar sized pancakes
or
1 cinnamon roll
or
2 roll sandwiches
or
cereal

And I still have muffins,
waffles & french toast
and pop tarts
to make and freeze.
Not today though as I am
wearing out.

be from the 50's - 60's.
This house was built in 1958
so I think it would be around that
time frame or within ten years of it.

I decided I wasn't done cooking or
baking for today, lol.

Started making more pop tarts
with some pre made pie dough
I got on a clearance.

I made this one up and didn't
have a recipe for it.
All kids seem to like peanut
butter and jelly.

I rolled them each out on cookie
sheets. One one I spread strawberry
jelly and on the other I spread
crunchy honey peanut butter.
It was a little tricky and messy
but I flipped over the peanut butter
one onto my hand and then put over
top the jelly one.
I used scissors to make triangular
pieces. Then used a fork to
crimp edges.
I don't have any more powdered sugar
for a glaze but found an open tub
of chocolate frosting I can melt
some and put on top.

Working on getting supper started.

Gonna do a Chef's Salad with lettuce,
ham, turkey, cheese, olives, homemade
croutons, boiled eggs & olives topped with
bacon ranch dressing.

Then as a side will tear apart the rest
of the deli bbq chicken.
Cut open some Italian bread loaves,
top with bbq sauce, chicken and cheese.

Worked on getting 3 more
windows tinted on the Tracker.
Not at all happy with how the
back window turned out.
It has a defroster on it
and it's a real "B" to do
tint on those little lines
that run across the window.

Well I am about to fall over
and my body hurts. Just took
some ibuprofen and gonna kick
back and watch Ghost Hunters
for the next 2 hours if I
don't pass out first!!

Today I think I am going to start
working on freezer breakfasts for
back to school mornings.
-Homemade Rolls
for sausage, egg & cheese sandwiches
-pop tarts

Going to Kroger this morning
to get a few things.
Time to stock up on things for
school lunches also because this
is the time of year that anything
school related is on sale.

It seems I have to wait about
a month before getting the reduced
lunch approval from the school.
So in the meantime I try to
round up things for their lunches
that are cheap.

Here is the recipe I use to make
simple no knead yeast rolls.

JIFFY DINNER ROLLS

1 (4 oz.) box Jiffy cake mix (yellow or white)
1 pkg. yeast
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. hot tap water
2 1/2 to 3 c. flour

Combine first 3 ingredients, add water and flour to make a soft dough. Will be sticky. Cover and let rise to double. Stir dough down and spoon on to a well-floured board. Gently turn a couple of times to coat with flour. Shape into balls the size for rolls and place in greased muffin pans. Cover and let rise approximately 1 hour. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Rolls can be reheated with good results.

POP TARTS

Here is a simple technique to use
when making the dough for pop tarts.
You can find the recipe here.

Make the dough and insert into
gallon size zip bags.

Flatten inside the bags with
rolling pin.

Put in freezer until frozen.

Remove and allow to thaw some.

Using a pizza cutter, cut
rectangle pieces the size
of a pop tart.

Place filling on one then
top with another and crimp
edges with fork.

Just returned from Kroger. I spent more
than I would have like but I am trying
to stock up also on things for kids' lunches
while they are on sale.

I spent $49 after coupons.
I'm hoping once the kids return
to school to get my grocery budget
back to $35 to $45 a week!!!

Stupid me should of bought something
else that was cheap and I could
have used a coupon I had for $5 off
a $50 purchase at Kroger.
I keep forgetting I have this coupon.
Jonathan found it a couple weeks
ago on the floor of Kroger!

According to my receipt
and the mark down I got
I saved $34.77.
Not the greatest shopping
trip but I did save money!!

Plus I am almost to the point
of hitting the .20 cents off
each gallon of Kroger gas.

Watch gas prices. Some areas
are in different tax brackets
and that's why gas is more
expensive. Buying gas near
where we live is cheaper than
buying gas in Upper Arlington
near where Tony works!!

I found a couple good mark downs.
$7.99 12pc. deli chicken marked down to $1.99, got 2.
$1.99 Italian bread loaves marked down to .49 cents.

Other sales:

$3 Heft zip bags for $1.00

4 pack pudding cups .70 cents each

I am usually not a fan of buying
Chef Boyardee canned items because
of price. But today I bought 9 cans
@ .70 cents each. Plan to use these
in thermos type containers for the
kids to have a hot lunch. 1 can
will be 2 servings.

Bought some frozen rib patties.
These are reg. $2 for $1.

Welch's grape Jelly 32ounce for $1.39 each

And a bunch of other things for
a buck or less.











To hopefully keep kids out of the
food for school lunches I put
everything on the top shelf
out of reach!! I am seriously
thinking about getting a keyed
door lock handle for our coat
closet and storing snacks and
other items in there to keep kids
out of!
I have problems keeping cheese in the
house as the kids will sneak and
snack on it. To prevent them from
doing this I now store it in
empty butter bowls. They think
it's butter and don't get into it!!
Works like a charm!

Do you ever have a ton of t-shirts
you don't know what to do with?
Here's a great way to recycle them
by making underwear! No need to buy
a pattern. Use a pair of your old
underwear and carefully tear apart
with a seam ripper to make your
own pattern pieces. Just remember
or take pictures along the way
so you can be able to assemble
it all back together.
Make some cute undies with sayings
and pictures from those t-shirts
also.

Gonna have to keep this in mind
when DDn as I run across a lot
of t-shirts.

FLEAS IN YOUR HOME?

Tip: Borax for Fleas

Fleas--Now is the time to rid your house with natural products. Save a bundle. Mostly, be kind to your animals. Spread dry 20 Mule team Borax, about 1 and a half to 2 cups per average size carpeted room. That is where the fleas live and breed in your house.

Leave for 2 weeks without vacuuming so the cycle covers eggs, larvae and adults. You will have eliminated your household fleas for at least a year and a half.

MAKING YOUR HOME SMELL GOOD

SIMMERING CANDLES

I don't like to light candles
around the house with animals
and kids for fear of forgetting
to blow them out or getting
knocked over.
A much safer way to have your
home smelling good is to round
up some leftover scented candles
which can be found cheap at
yard sales or in my case found
while DDn.
Use a knife to scrape wax out of
bottom of glass jar and put into
a potpourri warmer, a mini crock pot.
Set in a place out of reach from
kids.
When you want to remove wax
just unplug and allow to harden.
Then scrape out with knife.
To me this is so much cheaper
than buying all those fancy
air fresheners. And it makes
the house smell soooooo good!

Here is an example of a
pure vanilla candle I found the
other day. Someone threw it out
because it was burnt down too much
to light.

I think the smell is more intensified
by melting it in a crock rather
than burning a candle and it lasts
much longer also.

Sometimes everyone thinks I am
baking something when it's just
the candle simmering, LOL.

Have dessert baking in the oven for
tonight.
I used a gingerbread cookie mix
and made it according to directions.
Put in greased baking dish.

In another bowl I add 8 ounces
softened cream cheese,
1 cup milk and 3 ounce package
of pumpkin spice instant pudding.

Once the cake is done and cooled
I will top it with the cheesecake
mixture and put in fridge to chill.

Some of us like summer time veggies
and treats during the Winter months.
So how about Fall time treats
for the Summer months for a change
of pace.
Unfortunately you have to stock
up on things like gingerbread
cookies mixes and pumpkin pudding
when they go on clearance after
the holidays. I don't think you
would find them in the store now.
You could use any flavor cookie mix
and any flavor of pudding.

Total cost for my gingerbread
cheesecake-

$1.00 cream cheese
.50 cents cookie mix
.25 cent pudding
plus egg, milk, butter

So somewhere between $2.00
to $2.50 I'm guessing to make this
with the marked down items.

Supper-

$2.00 12 piece deli chicken
.50 cents Betty Crocker Scalloped Potatoes
.30 cents 2 ears of corn cut in half to make 4

so $2.80 for supper
plus 1/2 cheesecake dessert $1.25

$4.05 for 4 servings or $1.01 a serving.

Today is picture day with sooo many
pictures between the fence and DDn.

Here are the items I had gone through
that were in the truck. The only thing
I didn't get a photo of was of a
velour style blow up mattress.
Been wanting one of those for the
back of the truck so just kept it
in there. And to think the big move
out rush ain't til this weekend.
This here ain't nothing!!!
This will be fun because Tony
has on call this week.
They are also down a person at
his work due to one getting fired
last week. This is what happens
when you start acting like a 2 year
old throwing things. That guy had been there around
25-30 years! Was it really worth
getting fired???













Was even finding clothes that
still had tags on them,
never worn! Who buys clothes
and never wears them???









I also have a tote full of clothes
I kept.
There was some cute tops in there
I am hoping to be able to wear.
Along with many jeans & pants
I want to try on the kids and do
some hemming if need be.
One pair had pink embroidery on
the pockets that fit Jonathan perfectly.
I plan to take a black permanent
sharpie marker and color over the
pink areas so he can wear them.

Well looks like I got lots more
laundry to do today. Got some on
the line that's been there all night
that I need to take down soon then
start working on washing more
loads.

Well the tote of clothes I planned
on keeping is dwindling down.
I went through and started trying
on the clothes and found that
most do not fit.

Ya know sooo many people turn their
noses up to DDn. I don't give a crap!!
I am not the only one who benefits
from doing this, this time of year.
I help out other families also.
At the moment I am helping out
at least 4-5 other families that
have low income levels like us
that cannot afford to buy some of these
things that I find.
And ya know, we all get to sport around
our designer labels like everyone else
except we didn't pay the extravagant
prices, we didn't pay anything for them,
nah nah nah nah nah to those people
who do!! And no one knows any different.

To avoid those charges from ATM machines
that aren't your bank, go to a store
and make a minimal purchase and
when it asks you if you would like
to get money back, click yes.
No fee for doing this!!!
ATM fees now range from $2 to $3
each time you use them!!
Hey at least you got something at
the store instead of losing out
on $2-$3 at the ATM machine.

What to get someone for a baby shower
that has pretty much everything
they need like furniture and clothes.

Think practical!

Buy everyday items they will use
such as:

diapers, ointment, powder, lotion,
wipes, shampoo, baby food, baby cereal,
bottles, nipples, pacifiers, bottle
brushes, teething rings.

I would not recommend any formula
because you never know what kind
the baby will need.

This is what I want to do for
possibly 2 upcoming baby showers.
So if you
might be attending the same baby
shower I am please don't take my idea
as I have no clue what else to
buy or make!! It's just and idea
for any future baby showers.
