Heading out to the church sale this morning.
Will report back with any goodies I might find!
It's supposed to rain this afternoon so will
see if I can find other sales before it does.
Here lately it seems like when Friday
and Saturday rolls around it likes to rain.
I hope it stays away a little bit this weekend.
Would like to get the garden tilled
and get the horse manure worked in the soil.

OK y'all I'm back from the church sale
and we hit a neighborhood sale in Westerville also.
Grab a drink and sit a spell while I show
off my cheap goodies! I love garage sales!
People are nuts to pay new prices for things
in the store!!

CHURCH SALE

5 BAGS OF CLOTHES
Got all these clothes below for $1.25 (.25 cents a bag!)
I counted 34 items I crammed in these
plastic Kroger bags!
It averaged out to be .03 to .04 cents for each item!!!!!

If ya can't tell what this is, it's a
kids towel pullover with a monkey hood.

2 kids footed flannel pajamas

Sweat jacket for Jonathan

Tops and sweaters for myself.
I really wanted to get the boys
some clothes but those tables had been raided!

A top and shorts for myself

5 pairs of pants.
Some of which the boys might be able to wear.

A couple shirts for the boys
and a sweater for myself.

Ok that's all for the clothes that
was part of the .25 cents a bag deal ($1.25 for ALL!!)

I found this jacket below that was .50 cents.
I have a similar jacket like this but the
zipper finally broke last Winter.
Sure as heck can't beat a jacket for .50 cents!!
It has horses on it.

A woven runner for $2.00.
It goes the whole length of my kitchen.
That sure will help with dirty shoes
that make my tiled floor look a mess!

A couple yards of red and yellow upholstery fabric.
Will go perfect with living and dining room colors!
Not sure what I will use it for just yet.
I thought about reupholstering the chairs.
Oh yeah, .25 cents for this fabric!!

We've been needing more silverware. I found this
box of a complete set for $5.00. Sounds like a lot
but if you have priced silverware it isn't exactly cheap.
Not sure where some of my silverware went to, probably
buried in the backyard somewhere thanks to kids.
Thrift stores want 3 for $1.00 for silverware
and you'd be lucky after rummaging around in bins
to find a complete set. So I am happy to
have spent $5.00 on this set.

This is a valance. Paid .25 cents for it.
Liked the colors.

4 tab top curtain panels $5.00.
I still need curtains for our bow window
so will customize these to fit those windows.
They are a thicker fabric, which I need,
for more privacy. Right now I have a couple
light weight panels in the windows but
they a too sheer for me, sure can't run through
the house naked if I wanted to without worry
that the neighbors are getting a free show!

Things dissapear from this house and who
knows where it goes to. For example last
year during baseball season we had a crap
load of plastic cups with lids. Do you
think I could find just one this year, NO.
So I bought these for .10 cents each for
our travels.

We love the sounds of windchimes. A couple
weeks ago Tony bought me my first wind chime
for a buck. I found two today at the church
sale. One was $1.00 and the other .50 cents.
I would like to hang them along the car port
where I had hanging baskets last year.

The kids are weather fanatics.
I got them this barometer, thermometer and humidity
thing for $1.00.

Got a digital 70 pint Kenmore Dehumidifier for $10.
Plugged it in an buttons seemed to work
and the compressor kicked on.
Check this out, I saw it online for
$250-$300 for a new one!!!!
I LOVE CHURCH SALES!!!

That was it for the church sale.
I got the rest below at one garage sale.

I found this cute sign for .50 cents.
I will hang it in my hallway with
all my other similar signs.

This stuff was in a box marked free.
Not shown in this photo was a pack
of notebook paper, another car air freshener
and a new in package glow necklace like
you see at fairs.

I was worn to a frazzle after the church sale
and still managed to take mom to a few more
garage sales. I am tired and am going
to take a nap before the weekend starts!!

I got this in my email today.
As cheap as I am this sounds like something
I would do LMAO!!

NO NURSING HOME FOR US!!!

No nursing home for us. We are checking into the Holiday Inn!

With the average cost for a nursing home care costing $188.00 per day, there is a better way when we get old and feeble.

We have already checked on reservations at the Holiday Inn. For a combined long term stay discount and senior discount, it's $49..23 per night. That leaves $138.77 a day for: Breakfast, lunch and dinner in any restaurant we want, or room service, laundry, gratuities and special TV movies. Plus, they provide a spa, swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge and washer-dryer, etc ... Most have free toothpaste and razors, and all have free shampoo and soap.

$5 worth of tips a day will have the entire staff scrambling to help you. They treat you like a customer, not a patient. There is a city bus stop out front, and seniors ride free. The handicap bus will also pick you up (if you fake a decent limp).

To meet other nice people, call a church bus on Sundays or a synagogue ride on Saturdays.

For a change of scenery, take the airport shuttle bus and eat at one of the nice restaurants there. While you're at the airport, fly somewhere. Otherwise, the cash keeps building up.

It takes months to get into decent nursing homes. Holiday Inn will take your reservation today.. And you are not stuck in one place forever, you can move from Inn to Inn , or even from city to city. Want to see Hawaii ? They have a Holiday Inn there too.

T V broken? Light bulbs need changing? Need a mattress replaced? No problem. They fix everything, and apologize for the inconvenience.

The Inn has a night security person and daily room service... The maid checks to see if you are ok. If not, they will call the undertaker or an ambulance. If you fall and break a hip, Medicare will pay for the hip, and Holiday Inn will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.

And no worries about visits from family. They will always be glad to find you, and probably check in for a few days mini-vacation.

The grand kids can use the pool.

What more can you ask for?

So, when we reach that golden age,

we'll face it with a grin.

Just forward all our email to:

I got him today. I searched high and low
for some of these at Christmas time and couldn't
find any for older kids. They fit really good
on him!

Hubby looks at too much stuff on Craigslist, LOL!
Tonight guess what he found on there that he thinks
that we should do?
A private ghost hunt at the
Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield,
The place where they filmed Shawshank Redemption
(had a friend in that movie!)
and a place where my favorite show
Ghost Hunters AKA Taps has investigated.

I'm not quite sure of going on
a ghost hunting tour but will give it
some thought. It runs from 8pm to 5am
July 11th.

Here are some clips from TAPS- Ghost Hunters
from the Ohio State Reformatory.
I get nervous just watching them
as I remember that show!

I've been reading more about this private ghost hunt.
It says for the beginning they read to you the rules
and regulations and give a speech.
Each ghost hunt consists of 100 people.
BUT after the speech everyone is on their
own explore the place without guidance.
You have to bring your own flashlights.

Me and mom went to Khol's today
and bought, between the both of us,
about $47 worth of stuff for $4.00.

We used both our $10 coupon cards
plus they had some items marked
down from 30% to 55% which
helped even more to lower the prices!

After that we headed to my doctor's
appointment. I thought they were
doing another pap but they ended up
going in and cutting a pollup
(however you spell it)
off to send to the lab to see
if it was cancerous. More than likely
it is not but it's better to have it
checked out.

Stomach's feeling a little sore
as they didn't use anything to
numb the area they were cutting off.

I hate doctor's offices. Mom went
to the dentist Monday and it took
at least 2 hours, most of the time
spent was waiting. I go today and had
an appointment at 11:00 and didn't get
called back til almost 12:00!!

I spent this afternoon trying to figure
out how to install a surround. My head
is spinning and I got about as far as
hooking speakers up. Why can't anything
be easy to do? I read the directions
but it looked foreign to me. I can do
everything else except electronics, ahhh.

Mom and I managed to stop by a yard sale
today just up the street from here.
Seems a little odd to have one on a Thursday.
I bought:

-New black Haggar courderoy pants, tags still on it
for $60 (wowzer!!!) for .50 cents
-Victoria Secret nightgown .50 cents
-Pink lace leggins .50 cents
-Pair of shorts for Christopher .50 cents

Patiently waiting for tomorrow to get here
to go to the church sale I've been talking
about.
__________________________________________________

Last night I saw Walmart had their Easter
items marked down to 90% off!!
__________________________________________________

Tonight's Supper

I had some leftover chicken stroganoff I stored
in the freezer. So tonight I mixed in
a box of frozen veggies with it and will
serve it over biscuits.

Leftover stroganoff- free
frozen boxed veggies- .50 cents
can of Grands biscuits- .50 cents
can of cream of chicken soup- .70 cents

TOTAL COST FOR MEAL $1.70
Serves 5 @ .34 cents a serving

Also have leftover Strawberry Cheesecake
for dessert.

Last night I read the entire book,
Clara's Kitchen. It was interesting
learning about what life was like
during the depression and what they
ate and did to survive. Some of the recipes
seemed a little weird but I guess
if that's all you have, weird is better
than starving. I always wondered who
decided what we should eat with certain
meals. And who decided what foods were
considered breakfast foods. Why do we only
eat them that time of day??? I say eat
what you want, when you want, and with
whatever you want! Food is food!!
And it sure fills your belly no matter
what it may be mixed with or what sides
you serve as long as it tastes good.
YOU set your own ways and don't do something
just because that's what everyone else does!
Be your own person and your own family.
Have your own uniqueness about you instead
of keeping up with the Joneses. If we were
all alike this world would be such a boring place!

See told ya this was an el cheapo sale!!

Here's a thought for ya.

Yesterday I'm standing in line at the customer
service desk at Walmart. I'm watching people return items
and saw one lady was returning a pack of toilet paper.
That was different!! It was a simple pack of Angel
Soft toilet paper, probably the cheapest you could
buy without buying store brand. I just don't think
I could stand in line of about 10 people to return
TOILET PAPER! Who returns toilet paper???
Another lady, who was heavy set, was returning
a couple of stair steppers. Hmmmm, the New Year's
Resolution not working for her. Walmart is a crazy
place filled with a lot of interesting people.
Ya gotta do something while standing in line
so you start looking around to see what others
are doing, buying or returning.
It makes you wonder about others.

In Aldi's yesterday the man behind us at the checkout
bought, and yes I quickly counted this in my head,
8 DOZEN cans of spinach and about 20 boxes of instant
potatoes. I don't know if he wanted to be like Popeye
or what.

This morning I made a glass of apple
juice warmed in the microwave. Added
some cinnamon red hots and a piece of
orange peel and stirred til the cinnamon
pieces were melted. YUMMY!

Not sure what is on the agenda for today
so will have to play it by ear.

I had wanted to read my book from
the library last night but I was
too pooped to pop. I got as far
as page 8 yesterday with everything
that was going on. I need a slow
down. Mom's don't get a day off though!

__________________________________________________

This morning wasn't too bad. Mom took
me to Bob Evans and we split a Pot Roast
Hash and a Strawberry Smoothie.
It's more affordable and more healthy
to be able to split a meal like this
between 2 people.

Afterwards I wanted to go to Aldi's.
I got 7 large plastic Aldi bags of items
and I also paid for mom's groceries
which was another 3 bags.
Total cost was $68.
Not too bad. I got enough things
to last a couple of weeks.

Tonight I'm thinking about making
a strawberry cheesecake.
I found cans of strawberry pie
filling at Kroger about a month
ago on clearance and today instead
of buying all the ingredients to make
the cheesecake I bought a boxed
no bake cheesecake mix from Aldis.

For supper I'm having breaded whiting
fish fillets with a side of broccoli
and cheese rice and I don't know what else.
Found a 2 pound box
of 8 fillets at Walmart for $5.

5 fish fillets $3.15
2 pouches of broccoli & cheese rice $1.40

5 slices strawberry cheesecake $1.90
(Bob Evans wants around $3.50 a pie slice!
or $14 a pie!!)

TOTAL COST FOR MEAL $6.45
SERVES 5 @ $1.29 per serving

I always go by 5 serving because
I will include Tony's lunch for the next day.

I could break it down this way

TOTAL COST FOR SUPPER: $5.16
TOTAL COST FOR TONY'S LUNCH: $1.29

His homemade lunches sure beats the cost
of eating out at a fast food joint
at about $5.00 a pop each day.

$1.29 x's 20 days a month is $25.80
(and this meal was a little on the
expensive side as they usually are
a buck or less a serving)

$5.00 x's 20 days a month is $100.00

Even at the high side of the estimate
we save around $74.00 a month
with home cooked lunches.

Now look at the long picture for a year...
$74 x's 12 is $888
That's how much we save a year!
in 10 years that's damn neart $9,000!!!!
WOWZER!!

Every bit helps to save money
no matter how little it may seem.
It ALL adds up!!

__________________________________________________

A few photos from tonight's supper.
I didn't want the traditional
fries or hush puppies as sides
so made some pasta salad
and cheesy broccoli rice.

My quick, throw together crab pasta salad.
I had some extra spiral past leftover
from the other day's chicken
stroganoff.
I cut up about
1/3 imitation crab meat. Threw in
some Italian dressing and mayo
for a quick side dish.

Tomorrow before my doctor's appointment
I think we'll head over to Khols.
Gonna look for something for Jonathan's
birthday coming up and use the $10 off
coupon they sent me. Mom also got one
of those coupons. My step-dad had thrown
it out. She was out rummaging around in
her trash this morning searching for it.
Who in their right mind throws out a coupon
that is good for $10 off anything $10 or more.
Only my step-dad that's who.

Wooo Hoooo! The neighbor is buying our Cadi!
They are an elderly couple, retired.
He came and got the car this morning
and took it over to a dealership to
get it looked at before purchasing.
Even with any repairs that came up he
still said he wanted it. He even left the
car at the dealership to get repaired!
The trunk to this Cadi wouldn't open for
us after we got it and we never bothered
with it. This couple is going to pay
the dealership $700 to put in a new
cable and repair it!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT???
I about fell over. $700 for a trunk cable!!!
I still am having a hard time with that one
and am in shock. I said it must be nice
to have that kind of money to invest into
that car. He said, when I get it all done
it should be a very good running and dependable
car and I won't have car payments. He's got
a point there. I too don't want car payments
either. I guess at the moment they own a
1988 Cadillac that's getting tired. So they
must have a love for those cars to get another
one that's 11 years newer.
Oh yeah and I want to add that they didn't haggle
over the price, NOT ONCE! We upped the price for haggling
and we're actually getting the price we posted!!
That's good because I can use that extra money
to get some tires for the Tracker.
We can't afford new tires and go to Steve's used
tires or find some off Craigslist. They are sooo
much cheaper than new and are just as good.
We got a set of 20's for our Expedition at Steve's
for $200!!! Dare ya to price those new!!!
More like $200 to $300 PER TIRE!!!
Spent $120 for a set off Craigslist for our
Explorer. Still had the nubbies on the tires!!
And they were more like off road with deeper tread
which would have cost more if new!

1:50pm

Whew am I glad that this car selling thing
is over with for the time being! I get so nervous
trying to sell cars. Buying them is a whole
different ballgame as the nervousness goes
out the window and the monster comes out!

This 74 year old man is
as happy as a lark with his new toy. Boy he
sure reminds me of my step-dad. Is that even
possible to have two of them running around
in this world??? Scary thought!

But anyway we got the title notarized and
the car is out of my hair.
Good thing is I can now use the Cadi plates
to put on the Tracker. So that'll
save me about $60!

So much for nap time today. Looks like
an early bed time for me tonight.

___________________________________________________

Tonight's supper will be something simple
Thinking along the lines of grilled fried
bologna sandwiches with a side of fries.

I need to stock my meat supply once again
and start looking for some manager specials.
Kroger used to mark meat down half price
but I've noticed lately it's only been
about 30 to 40% off. Maybe I need to make
a trip to Aldi in the near future.

Been eating from the freezer and the stockpile.
But eventually it starts to dwindle down.
I'm good with the cupboard items
so need to work on meat.

I'm still not in the mood to make a big
grocery trip or do the coupon thing.
Got too much going on elsewhere to put
my mind to that.

Mom and I did stop in Walgreens this morning
to get her prescription. I saw they had
Easter candy 75% off. I got a variety
of Cadbury eggs for .12 cents each.
Putting that in mommmy's stash. Kids
don't know about that! Chocolate is chocolate
whether it's in the shape of a bunny, egg,
bar or heart. All tastes the same.

I am back on the air again with another cell
phone. Got a phone off a friend and got
it activated this morning. Still have
the same number and all that jazz.
Sprint wanted $50 to $60 to fix my other phone
and I thought they had lost their mind.
The other phone was $50 with a $50 rebate.
I'll stick with the $5.00 phone I have now.
Mental note, take $5.00 out to give to Kendra
for her phone before I forget again.
Memory is growing shorter every day!!

Also stopped in Dollar Tree and found some
pictures for the living and dining room for
a buck a piece. How did that happen as I have
been all over looking for pictures that were stupid
money. I actually found 3 Tuscany pictures
I hung up in the living room. These have a
tin look to them. And other pictures
that I thought were really neat. Holographic
that looks 3 dimensional. Some of seagulls and some of flowers.
Is there even seagulls in Tuscany?
If not there is now in my living room!
It's been fun trying to find pictures
with golds, yellows and reds in them.
Never mind that the wall hasn't been painted
yet and is still a beige color. Haven't had
time to get the hallway done.

I also stopped by the library, almost forgot!
Picked up my reserved book called Clara's Kitchen.
It's about a 94 year old woman who talks about
living through the depression and she shares
recipes.

Not sure if I like this group yet.
But hey it's something.
I'll be checking yard sales
for pictures. At a buck a piece
you can't go wrong even if it is
temporary!

Tony called not long ago and wants to
head to Indian Lake this weekend for
a day trip to visit his parents.
Too cold to do anything else up there.
And don't have a fishing license yet.
Which I hear those went up another buck
this year so that sucks.
Time to give the tracker a long distance
run and see how it holds up and test out
it's gas mileage. It's about 120 round
trip give or take. If we leave early
enough we might be able to hit a few
garage sales. Or maybe even go to the Discount
Grocery store there in town! Don't stop
in the regular grocery stores there
as they jack up all their prices
because of tourists.
I still have my el cheapo church sale this
Friday I can't wait to attend. I've gone
the last couple of years and came away
with a truck full of stuff.

___________________________________________________

I called the doctor's office today.
My doctor referred me to a gynecologist
and I have an appointment Thursday
to get an in depth pap smear to
check for cancer.
It would help if I had an address of
where I am supposed to go!! Haven't heard
back from the doctor. Hope she calls
pretty soon as the appointment is 2 days away!!

Glad to say doc finally called back.
Took awhile.
Geesh.

Dolly has a new boy friend. It was doggy day
outside in the yard. The neighbor brought
his 2 dogs over and another neighbor brought
over their 8 week old wiener dog.

This is Milo and Dolly.

___________________________________________________

What is it about this place that makes
it a main attraction for everyone to visit?
First the dog has her friends over then comes
the kids. Tony's working late tonight. Hey
they are actually giving them overtime at work!
Don't know how that happened but better run
with it while you can.
Anyway the kids have slowly moved into the house
to play. It's nice out and they want to play
indoors, go figure.
Is it bed time yet???
I have been wanting to color my hair
and thought I would be able to do it tonight.
Don't know if I can survive that long
with a missed nap. At least the kids
don't have homework due to some kind
of testing at school. Good thing
I picked an easy supper tonight because
I am wearing down fast!

Here's the kids and their friend playing
Playstation. I don't usually let them
get out video games on a school night
but I let it slide because of no homework.
Wonder how hungry they'll be at supper time
when they are all getting bowls of
cereal for a snack???

MAIL CALL

Today I received in the mail a
card for Khol's.
$10 off $10 or more purchase!
Might have to go check them out
to see what I can find.
Jonathan's birthday is coming up
in a little over 2 weeks.

__________________________________________________

I hear a rat tat tat on my door and I'm wondering
who in the world could that be.
Come to find out it's an older neighbor 2 doors down
that is interested in our Cadi for sale!
We just put it on Craigslist yesterday
so the fun begins. I hate trying to sell
vehicles. BUT I can recoop some money lost
out of the savings account due to unexpected
expenses here lately. We actually upped the
price of it due to so many people trying
to haggle with price. Once done haggling
then we'll be at the price we originally wanted.
But the neighbor hasn't haggled yet so we'll
see. You can't beat $1650 for a 99 Cadi Deville!!!

I'm having a hard time letting my Explorer
go so may hold onto it awhile longer.
Let Tony drive it and me drive the Tracker.
Then keep the Suburban around for the heavy
work like pulling trailers.

___________________________________________________

I don't understand this. You put a car on the side
of the house with the busiest traffic and for
sale sign facing the road and get no interest.
You park it out front with for sale sign facing
the sidewalk and you get two people interested
within the first day of it sitting there.
I guess I need to start doing things
ass backwards!
We had another person call about the car
from it sitting out front. There is no phone number
on Craigslist so if they call it's from
seeing it around here.

I have not checked to see how many responses
we got from Craigslist yet. I can't stand
the people who write, never see the car in
person and want to offer you $500 to $1,000
less than what you listed. I have gotten to
the point I don't even respond to people like
that. That takes a lot of balls let me tell ya.

Check Craigslist. The cheapest 99 Deville
other than ours starts at $2500 up to $7,000
with about $3,500 to $4,000 being the
average price. I am asking less than half
the KBB value! Why the hell would I want to
go any lower with a car that runs and drives.
This is a steal!!!! While Craigslist is
a great place to sell your car, you sure
have to deal with a lot of IDIOTS on there!!

Tonight's Supper

Fried Taters & Sausage

I'm still using up any leftovers I may have.

about 5-6 potatoes, peeled & sliced $1.00
1 package smoked sausage, sliced $1.20
1 small onion, diced .25 cents
leftover scalloped potatoes Free
(mom gave me about a 1/2 casserole dish of them)
olive oil
season salt
pepper

TOTAL COST $2.45
makes about 6 servings @ .41 cents a serving

Fry up potato slices and onions in olive oil until
tender and/or golden brown if you like
crispy potatoes. Stir in leftover
scalloped potatoes and smoked sausage
and fry til done.

_________________________________________________

For dessert we're having Bowl Cakes.

1/3 cup dry cake mix
2 Tablespoons water

microwave 30 to 50 secs.
top with ice cream, whipped cream or
cream cheese frosting and/or fruit.

So far I will have made 4 Bowl Cakes
from my cake mix and still have about
more than half a mix left in the box!

___________________________________________________

When growing up mom would make a lot of
fried potatoes! Here's what I did to make
a quick and easy potato soup:

Put some fried taters in a bowl,
added a little butter, salt and pepper
and then poured milk over them.

People give me the weirdest looks
when I do this but I think it is
so good. A comfort food in a jiffy.

___________________________________________________

Have you ever woke up in the morning to see
a big red blob on the white of your eye.
Today mom noticed one on my right eye.
I did some research on it to see what it
was and what may have caused it.
This morning it was a solid blood red
spot but as the day has progressed
it seems to be fanning out and is less red.

Tony had me freaking out saying maybe you
had a mini stroke in your sleep.
I had showed him my eye when he got home
from work. Now after doing some reading
about it I feel a little better.
It can be caused by strain from lifting
heavy things, coughing, sneezing and so on.

I have had allergies so maybe it was caused
by blowing my nose too hard.
Or maybe it was from unloading
manure yesterday. Those shovel fulls
got pretty heavy.

Here is an article I read...

Question: What Is the Red Spot in My Eye?

This morning I noticed a bright red spot in my eye. I don't remember scratching my eye, and it doesn't hurt at all. What is it?
Answer: The red spot you see is most likely a small blood vessel that burst open during the night. In medical terms, it is called a subconjuntival hemmorhage. Small blood vessels lie underneath the conjunctiva, the clear coating that covers the sclera, the white part of the eye. When one of the vessels breaks open, the blood has no place to go but underneath the conjunctiva. If a larger blood vessel bursts open and bleeds, it can be quite startling when you look into the mirror. In some cases, the blood can spread out over the entire white part of the eye. Most people become very nervous when this happens, but most often feel no pain, irritation or light sensitivity.

So what causes the hemmorhage? A subconjunctival hemmorhage can occur if a person has too much pressure on the upper part of the body or head. Pressure can be created by straining too hard while lifting something very heavy or coughing or sneezing. Straining during constipation can also cause enough pressure to burst a blood vessel in the eye. Other causes are high blood pressure, diabetes, trauma or a high dosage of blood thinners, such as aspirin.

If you notice a red spot in your eye that lasts for longer than a few days, you should schedule an eye exam. Your eye doctor will try to determine the cause of the subconjunctival hemmorhage. A comprehensive eye exam is usually warranted to rule out other diseases or trauma to the eye tissues. Treatment consists of a medical evaluation and reassuring the patient that it will go away, usually within a week. If the hemorrhage is large, it may take a little longer than a week and turn a yellowish, bruise-type color before it goes away. Artificial tears are sometimes recommended to keep the eye feeling comfortable in case of any tissue elevation due to a larger hemorrhage.

I'm full of shit today, literally.
My dear friend brought over a truckload
of horse manure. Might need a little more
manure but can only do so much at one time
before becoming exhausted. So will wait
to see after we til in this pile.
Not ready to till into
the garden just yet as I have a gazebo we
need to tear down. I'm going to reuse the
wrought iron sides either as a background
along our driveway fence for Morning Glories
or I can use them against the fence
in the backyard for some beans to grow on.
Either way they'll be put to use.

Tony has a black suburban and I couldn't
resist getting a picture of this pink
Suburban that drove by. I told Tony,
hey it could be worse, you could be
driving a pink 'Burban.

A woman's work is never done. As I walk around the
house, the honey do list gets longer and longer.
Want to power wash the house and get the shutters
painted. Then go around and caulk basement windows
and fill in any cracks in walls. Then get
some acrylic sheets to put up over basement
windows to make a double pane windows.
Still need to get some mulch and put
in the flower beds.

Now I am thinking about putting the boys
back into two separate bedrooms. So there's
another chore. But I think it will be best
and bedtime will be easier. I'll just have to
share my desk with one of their
bedrooms so I can have a place to do bills
and office things. Not much you can do in
such a small house under 1,000 sq. ft.

Well I have to get back to laundry that seems
to grow by the minute! I'm trying to stay on top
of it today.

Got supper in the crock. I skinned some
chicken leg quarters (about 6-7) then will remove
the meat from the bones once done.

Chicken was free, soup was about .25 cents,
cream cheese $1.00, spaghetti .50 cents

TOTAL COST $1.75
I'm guessing about 5 servings
so about .35 cents a serving

I'll have extra chicken left over.
I can add a bag of frozen mixed vegetables
to it tomorrow night and have
Chicken ALa King over biscuits.

CHICKEN STROGANOFF

6 chicken leg quarters
(recipe originally called for chicken breasts.
I use whatever I have on hand.
Chicken legs and quarters are cheaper than breasts!)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 -8 ounce cream cheese
1 box of spaghetti
(or whatever pasta or rice you have on hand)

Use whatever you have on hand. You do not
have to follow some recipes to a "t".
You could also throw in some veggies
or mushrooms.

Cook chicken in crock. Cut up chicken.
In a saucepan add cream of chicken soup
and cream cheese and heat until cream cheese
has melted down and warmed through.
Add milk if too thick.
Mix in chicken.
Boil spaghetti & drain.
Add a little butter. Spoon spaghetti onto
plates and then spoon creamed chicken on top.

Chicken Ala King.
Make chicken once in crock and
get 2 meals out of it!
I always try to use up leftovers
so will cut up a yellow and red
bell pepper to go into the chicken
for tomorrow.

OK I had a change of heart about stretching
my supper into tomorrow's supper.

We have a neighbor who lives across the street
from us. His wife left him about 6 months or
so ago. She left behind 3 kids, 2 girls about
7ish and a boy about 2. He lost his job
recently. We never
really knew this neighbor until all this happened
to him and he's been coming over and hanging
out. His kids and ours likes to play together.
Plus now Tony has a new friend.

Tonight I decided to make up a big pot
of chicken stroganoff for both our families.
Found a couple packages of dinner rolls
in the freezer and a box of spaghetti
and a box of spiral noodles.
I assumed since this guy's wife left
he and his kids probably hadn't had a
good home cooked meal in awhile.

I stretched the recipe above by adding
in leftover sour cream I had and an
extra can of mushroom soup. I added milk,
season salt and pepper. Then found some
leftover bell peppers in the fridge which
I cut up and put in there also. I diluted
it down with milk and thickened it up
with a little flour, made a bigger
pot that way.

I got everything packaged up for his family
in ziploc containers and put it in one of
my reusable grocery bags. Nobody knew what
I was doing til I handed the bag with hot
food in it to Tony and said go give this
to your buddy and his kids.

It makes you all warm and fuzzy being
able to do something like that for someone
else!!! You get more satisfaction out
of giving than you do receiving!!!

Here is the guy and his kids out front
of our home. Snuck a picture in when
they weren't looking. And a pic of the
large containers of food I sent over to them
to have for supper tonight.

This evening I was craving something sweet.

I had saved a bunch of bowls from the
Betty Crocker Warm Delights.
Tonight I decided to experiment and make
my own.

1/3 heaping cup of dry cake mix
(I used Red Velvet)
couple tablespoons water

Mix thoroughly. Put in microwave
for 30 to 50 seconds depending
on your microwave.

Removed and put a couple dollops of
cream cheese frosting on top.

You could add whatever you have on
to your cake mix from nuts, to chocolate
chips to caramel, coconut, fudge
marshmallows and so on.

Do you know how much money you could
save by making your own Warm Delights???

You could make MANY of these Bowl Cakes,
the name I gave my homemade version,
out of a box of cake mix that costs $1.00.
I'll have to keep track of how many
I am able to make over time.

Now how much are the Warm Delights?
Off sale about $2 to $3.
I know with coupons and sales I could get them for
.50 cents each. Still not worth it
when you consider how many can be made
from a box mix.

I don't think a snack could be any quicker,
cheaper or easier than this!
Something to curb that sweet tooth
or an almost instant dessert to
serve after supper!
