3 days later and I am finally able
to get my 10 lbs of chicken in the crock pots!
It took that long to thaw out.
I still have 60 more pounds of chicken
in the freezer!!
I'll cook up 10 pounds at a time in the crocks
then put cooked chicken into zip bags and put
back into the freezer.
This makes my life so much easier when
it comes to making meals by having
the chicken cooked ahead of time!

Also hidden in my freezer is a 20+ pound turkey
I bought last November.
Each year I usually buy an extra turkey when on sale
since I am usually the one who has Thanksgiving at our house.
That way should I not be able to afford a turkey for the upcoming year I know I have one tucked away in the freezer!
I always like to think ahead when possible
even if that means a year ahead!
A turkey will last up to a year if
frozen immediately after purchasing!

for creating a spooky Halloween cookie
from their chocolate chip cookie dough.

It has to be an original design

Took a blanket down off the clothesline

and got 2 more in the washer about

ready to hang to dry.

I go through and wash all blankets/pillows

about 2-3 times a year.

I prefer when the weather is warmer

so I can hang outside to dry.

I was gonna start the 10 lbs. of chicken leg quarters in

the crock pot but discovered it was still

frozen even when I've had it in the fridge

for 2 days. I now have it sitting on the

counter to thaw out faster!

So maybe we'll try for tomorrow

of getting those in the crock pot.

My 1.5 lbs of chicken breasts were half thawed out

so I put them in the crock with a little

water, chicken boullion and a splash

of liquid smoke.

One large blanket in the washer.

I still have 7 more to go, ahhh!

About 4 of those look like lap blankets

so I should be able to get those in one load.

I have a super capacity washer/dryer

so that helps out allot when doing laundry!

I don't wash blankets all the time.

I have more than enough blankets to get by on.

Once dirty I let them accumulate

until it comes to blanket washing time

then do them all at once that week.

Next will be towels and a couple more pillows.

I could fill half my linen closet with towels alone!

Once I run out of my supply of laundry detergent

and can't find any extremely good sales with coupons

then I will considering making my own

liquid laundry detergent.

It says you can use essential oils to

add a fragrance to the soap but they can

get expensive. I think at one Dollar Store

on Indianola by the Ohio Thrift store

I saw tons of what looked like essential oils

in all different fragrances for only a buck!

I'm pretty sure the rest of the

ingredients can be found at Meijers.

The Fels Naptha was in the isle with

the bar soap, not in the cleaning supply isle!

I don't know why as this is a soap

for laundry. You could also use Zote

or sometimes Ivory soap.

This is a recipe from the Duggars.

In case you don't know who they are,

they are on the show called 19 (or is it 20) and Counting,

I lost count as to how many kids they have, lol!

Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap- Front or top load machine- best value

4 Cups - hot tap water
1 Fels-Naptha soap bar
1 Cup - Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda*
½ Cup Borax

- Grate bar of soap and add to saucepan with water. Stir continually over medium-low heat until soap dissolves and is melted.

-Fill a 5 gallon bucket half full of hot tap water. Add melted soap, washing soda and Borax. Stir well until all powder is dissolved. Fill bucket to top with more hot water. Stir, cover and let sit overnight to thicken.

-Stir and fill a used, clean, laundry soap dispenser half full with soap and then fill rest of way with water. Shake before each use. (will gel)

-Optional: You can add 10-15 drops of essential oil per 2 gallons. Add once soap has cooled. Ideas: lavender, rosemary, tea tree oil.

-Yield: Liquid soap recipe makes 10 gallons.

-Top Load Machine- 5/8 Cup per load (Approx. 180 loads)

-Front Load Machines- ¼ Cup per load (Approx. 640 loads)

*Arm & Hammer "Super Washing Soda" - in some stores or may be purchased online here (at Meijer.com). Baking Soda will not work, nor will Arm & Hammer Detergent - It must be sodium carbonate!!

FABRIC SOFTENER

1 Container of Name Brand Fabric Softener
4 Inexpensive sponges, cut in half

Pour entire container of softener into a 5 gallon bucket. Fill empty softener container with water twice. (2 parts water to 1 part softener) Add sponges to softener/water mixture. When ready to use wring out extra mixture from one sponge and add to the dryer as you would a dryer sheet.

Coffee maker $3.00 a month, that's using it 1 time a day.

actually sent a letter to tell me my kids

qualified for reduced lunches, yeah!

No more packing lunches or the

expense of buying the items to pack them!!

Regular elementary school lunches would have cost

$2.00 a day x's 5 days x's 4 weeks x's 2 kids equals

$80 a month!! Now you see why I have been

packing their lunches!

Now with reduced lunches it will only cost

$16 a month for both kids.

A lot cheaper than to pack 50 lunches

in one month and allot less hassle for me

to have to pack them every day!

Sitting here brainstorming about how

to use up some leftovers.

I have 2 bowls in the freezer with leftover chili in them.

I was thinking about this for a supper tonight.

CHICKEN QUESADILLAS

(this is my recipe)

Bring chili to a boil in a pot

add the rice and seasoning packet

from an Asian Helper from Betty Crocker

and cook til rice is tender and

most of the soup base from the chili has

been absorbed, add water if needed to cook rice.

Stir in some cut up chicken.

Now lightly spray a skillet with cooking

spray and place a flour tortilla on it.

Spoon chili, rice & chicken mixture onto tortilla

and top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Fold over tortilla shell in half with spatula

and lightly brown on both sides.

Serve with sour cream.

I was inspired by Taco Bell's

Cheesy Bean & Rice Burrito.

I have been considering getting movies from

them since there is one like a minute up the street.

Looks to be $1.00 a dvd and accepts debit cards.

I went to blockbusterExpress.com

and typed in my zip code and it will

show you all these machines in your area

and will even tell you what movies are in each one.

Sometimes when using my Speedway

card they give you free rentals for

their machine out front!

What's with Walgreens recently?
Yesterday I got the Reynolds aluminum foil
and had a Walgreens coupon out of the paper for a 20 ft roll.
They didn't carry 20 ft rolls so they had to
do the 25 ft rolls for the same price
which was all good.
Then I wanted the Quakers rice cakes.
Couldn't find them anywhere in the store so asked
someone where they were. They told me they didn't carry
them in that store. I said even though you have
them advertised in the paper you don't carry them?
That to me is like false advertisement to lure
you into their stores!
She said some stores don't carry certain items.
Yeah but this is getting ridiculous because
just last week I went in for the Goya beans
and had printed a Walgreens coupon for them
and they told me the same thing,
they didn't carry them.
Why advertise items if only some stores have them???
I'm not running around town to figure out
which stores carry these items.

Every now and then I have to shop at
Walmart to be reminded of why I don't
like to shop there.
1. store is too confusing and too big.
toiletry and food items are on opposite ends of the store.
2. they never seem to stock the shelves
for the things I need to buy.
3. they don't double coupons
4. I can get better deals with coupons elsewhere.

My groceries were $3.68,
that was out of my grocery budget.
I got
4 bottles soy sauce $2.84 for all (.71 cents each),
2 bottles stir fry sauce .84 cents (.42 cents each),
3 reach dental floss- free,
2 Tucks to go pads- free

I actually had another reach floss
and coupon and they would not take
the coupon so I had them take the
floss off my bill!
Don't know why as is doesn't have
a limit stated on their coupon policy
other than 1 coupon per item.
I didn't argue with them about
it and said I don't want it then!

I had many other coupons I didn't use because I either
couldn't find things, they were out of stock
or they were higher prices than what
I posted yesterday.
...

I also got these items which
are not part of my grocery budget
so they are not included with the grocery totals
for the week.

Tennis shoes for Tony $12
and the kids told me this morning
they needed school boxes-
found them for .25 cents each and got 4 for $1.00.
I got them each 1 box for home/book bag and 1 for school.

of the freezer and put in the fridge to thaw for upcoming
meals or cooked meat for the freezer.

10 lbs chicken leg quarters-

will get skinned then go into crocks to
cook with water & chicken boullion.
Then will remove chicken from bones
and pack into freezer bags.
Ideas for some recipes:
-chicken tacos
-chicken stir fry
-bbq chicken pizzas
-chicken salad sandwiches
-chicken pasta salad

1.5 lbs. chicken breasts

Might also do in the crock
with some water & chicken boullion
then pack cooked meat in freezer bags.

1.5 lbs. hamburger

plan to make some crock pot chili today.
2 cans kidney beans $1.18
1 large can tomato puree $1.00
1 jar chunky mild salsa .67 cents
hamburger- free
chili seasoning mix .50 cents
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese .50 cents
2 can diced tomatoes- free

TOTAL FOR CHILI MEAL: $3.85
Serves at least 9 @ .42 cents a serving.
I ended up putting 2 containers
of chili in the freezer for another day
on top of 4 meals tonight for supper
and a lunch for Tony tomorrow.

By the way the kids said their sandwich wraps
worked today.
They said it kept their hot pockets warm!

• 1 qt milk
• salt

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Boil macaroni until it is fork tender and drain.
Grease a 2 quart baking dish. Place a layer of macaroni. Cut butter into small pieces and place some on top of macaroni followed by a layer of cheese.
Continue until your dish is full. Pour milk on top and bake for 1 hour.

Got a blanket hung up on the clothesline
and 2 more in the washer.

Got chili going in a big pot.
I changed my recipe a smidge.
I added a can of diced tomatoes,
about a teaspoon of cinnamon
and about an ounce of finely grated up
chocolate to add to the pot also
with the rest of the ingredients
I mentioned earlier.
This is called Cincinnati Chili also known as Skyline Chili.
But this is my version of it as other recipes
may have additional ingredients.

and decided to check it out.
I had them years ago and didn't like

Getting all the bedding cleaned.
Just brought in 2 blankets off the line,
1 is still drying, 2 more are in washer
and I have 2 pillows in the dryer.
People look at me like I am crazy
when I say I wash our bed pillows.
What's wrong with that?
I do it all the time!
I like sleeping on clean pillows
that have less germs and a little
less drool and they smell good too!

thinking about retiring to the bedroom
and watching my Ghost Hunters.
As far as I know I don't have plans
to go anywhere Thurs or Fri so might
work on getting all this chicken
into crock pots and get them cooked up.

I was telling mom yesterday how I cut back

on paper towels. I only buy a roll of paper towels

to have around to clean mirrors, house & car windows.

For everything else I have a laundry basket

under my kitchen sink full of rags for cleaning

and wiping up spills.

When we go out to eat we usually pick up one

too many napkins so I started saving the leftovers

in a zippered cosmetics bag in my purse

along with a small bottle of hand sanitizer.

When out and about and I need to wipe

a face, blow a nose or clean something then I just

grab those napkins I've been saving in my purse.

Tony calls me this morning saying he found

a pet for the kids. It was left in one of

the laundry rooms at the apartment complex.

I turned it down real quick and didn't want anything

to do with it. Just the thought of it made me

cringe and get goosebumps!

So do ya really wanna know what the

maintenance guys found??? huh huh???

Got goosebumps thinking about it!

Someone left a glass aquarium in one

of the laundry rooms with a TARANTULA SPIDER

in it!!

Could you imagine something like that getting

out in the night finding it's way to your bed

and crawling across your face or other body

parts, ahhhhhhhhh!!!

Here is a tip I read on Dollar Stretcher

to cut back on your electric bill.

I think I have actually heard Oprah

talk about this on one of her shows

so yes it does work!!

Plug everything into those power strips

and when not in use flip the switch and

turn everything off like when you go to work

or go to bed.

Power strips. My house is equipped with them in every room. The kitchen toaster, can opener, microwave, coffee pot and telephone are plugged into them. They do not need to be on all the time, and it saves a great deal of energy that way. The television and DVD player are also on a power strip, so when it is not in use, it is not drawing energy. The bedrooms have power strips for the cell phone cords and there is nothing on during the day in the rooms. My electric bill went from $175 a month to $78 and less each month. I had a bill for $51 one month with everything turned off.

You don't know how much easier it

is to match up when doing laundry.

Plus when the dryer eats your socks

and some start to disappear save

You know not everyone has access to a microwave

while at work or school to heat their lunches in.

Thermos' are great for soups and such but

what if you wanted a hot sandwich?

I bought these SideShots Hot Pockets

for the kids lunches this week and was wondering

how they could eat them warm. I'm sure

they wouldn't taste too good cold!

So I got my creative mind a thinking.

I kept thinking about that pizza bag pizza delivery

guys use to deliver hot pizzas in so that was

what inspired this idea of mine.

I took some leftover fleece I had and sewed

it into a pocket then lined with some

aluminum foil.

Tomorrow morning I will warm up

those Hot Pockets and wrap with

additional aluminum foil and put

in these pouches in their lunch bags.

These little, what I'll call,

Sandwich Wraps,

will act as a heat insulator and keep

those little sandwiches warm til lunch time!

Whaddya think about my new invention? LOL!

.I might make a couple more big enough

for water bottles for their lunch to help

keep them colder!

Hey I think I'm onto something here!

Those little pouches would be good for

hot dogs, hamburgers, subs and so on.

Once I find some buttons I will make

it so you could fold the flap over.

You could also use aluminum tape

to line the insides of the pouch with.

and deleted and trashed and permanently deleted the

from China!!

as it has all these features that go with it!

I don't know if you have noticed some of the

things I have been buying from the store.

I have been slowly getting things for

Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

This way I have them ahead of time

and get them little by little without being

overwhelmed with buying it all at the last

minute and having the large expense all at once.

This is what I have so far:

2 cans pumpkin,

6 cans sweet corn,

6 cans french cut green beans,

cream cheese,

have homemade noodles in the freezer,

and I already have a large turkey in the freezer!
