GOOD GUYS
Here are some pictures and videos from last night
on Busch Blvd (Continent area). It was like
taking a step back in time. I think we got there
around 6:30 and got home about 10:30PM.
We took my step-dad with us who usually
goes to the actual car show. His comment
last night after viewing what we go to
every year was, "this is better than any
car show you walk around!" Been trying
to tell him this for years and the best
part is that's it's FREE!
They really start to get wound up after dark.
Heading back again tonight.

11:00AM to 1:00PM

Got up and had breakfast of sausage, egg and cheese
roll sandwiches.
After breakfast we went out to the red Trans AM
to work more on the shifter cable.
Remember that thing that the guy at the
transmission shop screwed up, well we are
still working on it!
I'm chillin at the moment. Just got the front
and side grass mowed for now. Tony's now
fiddling with the blue Trans Am.
Just go, go, go around here!

Anyone care to chime in here and fix this???

I thought this was a neat idea of coming
up with more storage space.

How to Turn a Door into a Bookcase

The only problem I saw that would concern me
is that I would have put some sort of
cross bar across the shelves on the bottoms
to keep things from falling off when you
opened the doors. Or you could even put
a plexiglass door front on.

This was pretty neat also, not that I would
do it but I thought I would show you.
How about cutting 2 coffee tables in half
and stacking them along the wall to make
a bookshelf?

10:00AM

Today is supposed to be 80 with thunderstorms.
I decided to give the air condition a rest
and turned it off. Got windows open
and fans blowing in every room.
Humidity is still up and the air
feel sticky. Just trying to cut back
on the electric bill.

_________________________________________________

10-11:00AM

With no AC on it's reading 79 in here.
I'm sure once Tony gets home from work
we'll be turning it back on due to humidity.

Back in basement for another go 'round.
Got 2 boxes full of stuff to haul out.

My dear friend's hubby stopped by and
dropped off some Dr. Scholl's coupons for me :0)
along with some cucumbers from her garden.
I need their green thumb touch over here
to get stuff to grow faster!
While they've got cucumbers already,
I've got babies ones just starting out
about the size of a finger.

Well back to the basement to get more done, UGHH!
Trying to move things around down there
and get some what of a plan of action.

What the heck do you do with or where do
you store a HUGE LCD TV box that you need
to keep due to a purchased warranty.
If something would go wrong with the TV
I need the box it came it. That really sucks
because that sucker takes up a lot of space!

1:45PM

Fed Ex man came to the door and delivered
my free Glidden paint samples.

I tried it out on the wall and don't think
I like it. I think I want a more deeper
red with less orange in it.
While it matches some colors in my chair
covers I still want something that's not
quite that bright.

Got 5 boxes and a bag hauled up outta
the basement. Been on a roll the past
week with getting rid of stuff!
Too bad it's been raining
because I'm gonna need some more
boxes! Maybe I could find some
fresh ones after the rain.

Looks like the rain might be moved out by this
evening. That would be nice to go
check out the cars from Good Guys at the hotels.

3:00PM

Decided to turn the air condition back on.
It stayed 79-80 degrees in here today
but the humidity sucks!
Had to turn on the oven to make my
cookie cups for ice cream later on tonight.

Jonathan has been wanting pumpkin ice
cream but that is a seasonal item. Pumpkin in
a can is scarce due to a shortage.
So I pulled out a Pumpkin Spice cookie
mix by Betty Crocker out of the pantry
to make the cookie cups with.
I bought pumpkin spice and gingerbread
cookie mixes after the holidays when
they went on clearance. It's a nice
change to have a taste of the holidays
during the Summer months for something
different.

4:15PM

Got all the pumpkin spice cookie cups baked,
rims have chocolate with sprinkles
and inside is filled with vanilla ice cream
Will make a nice treat after coming

See watchya get off an ice cream truck for that!
NOTHING! Let a lone can feed 12 people if need be.

Why is it kids are so drawn to rain water
but give them a bath and they act like they
will melt?

About 5 minutes before supper was ready
the kids decided to head outside
with umbrellas in hand and play in the
rain that was gushing over the gutters
like a waterfall. Then when my back
was turned I see umbrellas laying on
the ground and they take off on bicycles
in pouring down rain getting soaking wet.
AHHHHH! So we had to get completely
out of our wet clothes and get a new
change of clothes on before eating
and heading out tonight.
Waiting patiently for the rain to stop
so we can go check out the old cars.

POTASSIUM

These are just some notes I have taken concerning
potassium.

Ask your doctor before taking any medications
or supplements.

Helps regulate water balance within the body. It works to control the activity of the heart muscle, nervous system, blood pressure and kidneys.

Potassium's role is to maintain water balance inside the cells and help in the transmission of nerve impulses. Low or high levels in the blood are of critical significance. Potassium helps to maintain proper muscle and nerve function; it also helps in some important metabolic processes.

Potassium is also important in sending nerve impulses as well as releasing energy from protein, fat, and carbohydrates during metabolism.

The range of actual intake for children is 780 to 1,600 mg per day; adults the range is 1600 to 2000 mg per day.

Side effects, precautions, toxicity, and drug interactions

Gastrointestinal symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea, are the most common side effects of potassium supplements. Other potential adverse effects include muscle weakness, slowed heart rate, and abnormal heart rhythm. Increased level of potassium in the blood is known as hyperkalemia. This may be related to increase in total body potassium or excessive release of potassium from the cells into the bloodstream. Hyperkalemia can have serious, potentially life-threatening effects on the body. People with kidney failure should not take potassium supplements.

HOW TO USE: To prevent stomach upset, take each dose with food or immediately after a meal. Sustained-release capsules and tablets must be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew them as side effects may be increased. Take tablets or capsules with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water, unless your doctor directs you otherwise. Do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking the tablet or capsule. The liquid and powder forms must be diluted in a full glass of cold water or juice before taking. Drink slowly.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Inform your doctor about all the medicines you use (both prescription and nonprescription) especially if you take: "water pills" (diuretics such as furosemide or amiloride), ACE inhibitors (e.g., lisinopril), digoxin, salt substitutes containing potassium.

NOTES: Foods high in potassium include: bananas, citrus fruits, watermelon, cantaloupe, raisins, dates, prunes, avocados, apricots, beans, broccoli, brussels sprouts, spinach, potatoes, yams, lentils, fish, chicken, turkey, ham, beef, and milk.

6:30-8:05AM

Didn't sleep too well last night.
Got up this morning and took a couple
ibuprofen. My legs are feeling the
affect of running up and down the
basement steps.

I had a friend/neighbor from high school IM
me this morning. He apologized for how
he treated me back then, well back about
26 years ago. Must be feeling guilty with
old age setting in. But that was nice of him
to do. He's been trying to come home to visit
with friends and family. He's been living
in Germany for about the past 15 or so years.
That would be so cool to get everyone
together from the old neighborhood
for a little reunion.

This was me and him on graduation day

Here's a recipe I found for

CHEESE WHIZ

1 lb. cubed cheddar cheese
2 C evaporated milk
1 tsp dry mustard
2 beaten eggs

Melt cheese; add milk & spices. Add egg and
cook slightly. Cool & cover tightly. Store in
refrigerator.

----------------------------

10:00-11:00AM

Yupper I am still down in the dungeon.
Starting on washing blankets today providing
the neighbor doesn't want to water them!

Just think when I get the downstairs done
I want to do the whole upstairs.

Who needs to buy stair steppers for exercise.
I just run up and down my stairs to the basement
about 20+ times a day! No wonder I couldn't
sleep last night, I think I had restless
leg syndrome. I probably looked like a
dog trying to run in my sleep, lol.

Filled up Tony's truck this morning with crap.
And today I've got about 3 boxes and a bag
full of stuff.

For lunch we will have tuna salad sandwiches
on leftover rolls from yesterday.
I was able to make 24 rolls with the recipe
I had.

Been watching the weather for tomorrow.
Supposed to have scattered thunderstorms
so don't know if we will be going to
yard sales or out cruising tomorrow evening.
One night we are taking my step-dad with
us to check out all the Good Guy cars.
This will be interesting!

Well time to get blankets out on the line.
They should dry in no time today.
At 11:15am its 88 but feels like 91.
Supposed to be around 93 degrees today.

Ever seen those paintings of quilts
hanging on a clothesline?
Well here is my version with kids comforters, lol.

Do you pay more thinking you are buying natural
products?

6 REASONS WHY 'NATURAL' ON A LABEL IS MEANINGLESS

____________________________________________________

1:00PM

Just so you don't think I'm pulling
anyone's leg about how much crap I am
weeding out, here is a photo of boxes/bags
that I brought up since this morning.
7 boxes and 1 bag and the day ain't
over with!
And don't anyone say they want that
comforter on top! Unless you want
some kind of bodily function from
a cat with it! I wasn't even gonna
attempt to wash that!!

Right now it's 91 but feels like 94 degrees.
It seems like I no sooner put blankets
on the line and they are dried within
a half hour.

Well I just put a bid in for a dozen
diabetic socks for Tony. I keep forgetting
to get them for him. Cost $16.10
or $1.34 each.

Oh yeah I got the 2 cell phones I won
on Ebay the other day. They work perfect!

Now I am working on getting some coupons
for dr scholls shoe insoles. Found
some that is supposed to relieve backaches
and pressure in the joints.

$2.00 printable Dr. Scholls coupons

-massaging gel insoles
-freeze away wart remover
-orthotic
There is a guarantee that if you don't feel
some kind of pain relief you can
get your money back!

Depending on the kind of insoles they
run from about $10 to $15. A little
expensive but willing to give anything
a try to help hubby relieve some pain.
And any money off is good also!
I have yet to find any bad reviews about them!

Here's some reviews I found.
Also says it helps heel spurs which Tony has.
Cortisone shots are very painful!

***Use in all close-in shoes. Works instantly. Takes pressure off sore spots on heels. Good for heel spurs/plantar faciitis.

***These insoles are great. I had very bad heel spurs/fasciitis. I thought I was going to miss the fair and disappoint my kids. Dr. Scholl's Arthritis Pain Relief Insoles saved the day. At the end of the fair my feet felt better than the kids' feet. I do not like the hard plastic orthotics that are often recommended for heel pain.

***I have these in all my shoes. They relieve my plantar fasciitis heel pain. Don't think I can walk properly without them.

5:15PM

I called it quits earlier with the basement.
I figured I did enough for one day.
I did continue with washing blankets.
I managed to get to get 10 blankets
washed and dried on the line today.

This evening I decided to go out and
pick my green beans and wax beans.
Also found 4 grape tomatoes ready to
be picked. Only 3 made it in the house
as Tony had to give one a try.
Gave it thumbs up.

Here is how to blanch and freeze beans.
This is from Grow Your Own web site.

Green beans will last 9 months in a ziploc bag in an ordinary freezer,
and 14 months in a deep freeze in a vacuum packed bag.

This year by planting a variety of veggies
will allow us to decide what we would like
for next year. This is like a trial an
error garden being my first garden I've
ever had. I can see what grows better.
I know tomatoes, peppers, beans
and cucumbers are a for sure thing.

Well y'all it's been a hot day and I feel
like getting some pizza tonight having
someone else do the cooking for me :0)

____________________________________________________

8:30PM

Just returned home from getting pizza and
touring some of the hotels on Morse Rd
and 161. The old cars are starting to come
in and they sure do look purdy. Everyone's
out polishing and washing cars. What they don't
know is we have rain coming.

Been searching for days on end for a shelf/
cupboard for my one kitchen wall.
I ran across something of interest tonight,
the top of a hutch, the only one I have
found so far. It's $10. But before I go
see it in Newark I asked the seller to send dimensions
to see if it would work.

Watchya think. Can't beat $10 for it!
As much as I wouldn't want to paint real
wood I would possibly paint it white
to match my other cabinets then put
the light pine contact paper on the
back walls to blend in with the rest
of the kitchen.

Or I could keep it unpainted since it
would match the dining room table
and the front door is of the same
wood color also.

As y'all know I have been working in the
basement. Jonathan found a wig down there
this evening and put it on, LOL.
He's something else!
