3-7-10

I have heard on TV that gas prices could go up
over $3.00 this Summer.
So we are in the process of possibly looking
into a scooter or motorcycle for Tony to go
back and forth to work. At the moment
He spends about $45 or more a week on gas to
go back and forth to work and to drive around
work. He drives roughly 15 to 20 miles a day for work
or up to 75 to 100 miles a week.
Lots of stopping and starting, braking
and idling time considering
city traffic and stop lights.
Plus he drives a huge Suburban.
So to look at the overall picture he's spending
$180 plus a month in gas. Before the gas hike!

This morning we have looked into a scooter,
a 2008 Roketa 250. We found a used one for $1,495.
The reviews I have read say this...
$5.38 to fill the tank @ $2.69 a gallon and it gets
60 to 100 miles per gallon!!
So that would mean you could get
120 to 200 miles per fill up of only 2 gallons.
It would really depend upon the weight of
the person riding it.
It has around a 2.2 gallon gas tank.
It will go 70-80 mph.

So for those looking for ways to cut back
with gas prices a scooter or motorcyle
is definately the way to go if you don't
have to haul kids around.

This is just a photo I found online
to show what a large adult would look
like on one of these scooters.

Sorry I have not posted much today.

We have been out motorcycle shopping
and I starting my Spring cleaning in the basement,
AHHHH scary place!!

And been trying to catch
up on all my laundry.

Which I would like to add a tip with saving on
detergent and fabric softener that I do.
Only use half the amount of detergent
or fabric softener.
Add water to the fabric softener
agitator or Downy ball.
It works just the same and clothes still come
out clean and smelling fresh.

I am happy to say that I just paid my electric
bill the other day and it was $68.
I have growled numerous times
at kids about leaving tv's, lights and games
systems on when out of the room!!
Still working on getting it cut back even more.

Gas is running around $90 for the past month.
Not too bad, it could be much worse.
Temps have been in the single digits to 20's the past
month with our record snowfall of around 31 inches.
Wind chill has been in the minuses to teens for
February.

Today I was able to find a $1.00 off a pint of
Ben & Jerry's ice cream at Speedway
by the ice cream section.
Snatch them up and use them at your grocery store.
I've seen them go on sale so wait it out for
a much better deal. They don't expire til 6/1/10!

For about 13 years I have had this small bump
on the palm of my hand. I'd at times cut it
off with a razor blade but in time it would
eventually grow back. I just learned to live
with it as it did not affect anything I did.
At times it would itch and that's about it.

Tonight I was reading messages from a Yahoo group
about warts and I got to wondering if what was
on my palm might be a wart. I had a wart on my
thumb when I was younger and this did not look
like that.

But anyways I wanted to share with you what home
remedies you could use for removing warts.
There is a duct tape method you can google
because I don't remember what that one was.
I couldn't imagine trying to put duct tape on
my palm.
So the other two I read about was to apply
either super glue or clear nail polish on the
wart(s) up to two weeks or longer. They
are supposed to eventually smother the wart
and cause it to fall off or gradually flake off.
People who have tried it say it does not
grow back.
So tonight I am using the super glue method
to see if it works. Will let you know
how this works out.

Bad news, while they will match the price

find the 50 ounce size to match the sale and
the manufacture coupon to make them possibly
.50 cents each.
This was the Target at Easton so maybe
other Targets might carry this size.

Tylenol Simply Sleep (24 ct) is on sale for $2.99

Use the $1.50/1 Walgreens coupon from the March coupon booklet
Final cost FREE + $0.51 in overage to go towards other items!

Find a Easter pencil (.39 cents) in the isle with
all the Easter merchandise to use as a filler item.

**Make sure to hand over the manufacturer coupon first to avoid beepage!

This should bring your total to about .03 cents.
I'm just guessing on tax from the previous
Tylenol PM I purchased this week.
But you will need a filler item to make this
deal work. If you don't use a filler it
will bring your total into the negative and
they won't allow it.

You can only do one transaction at a time
when you use duplicate coupons out of the
March issue of their coupon booklet.
You can find those booklets
right inside the front door as you walk
in usually next to the sales fliers.

I have $1.25 left over out of my $5.00 grocery challenge.
Can you believe I still want to go to Meijers
and Walgreens again tomorrow to possibly
pick up another 9 items with my $1.25 ???!!!
Maybe even a couple more items.
I saw a few refrigerated items marked down the
other day and found coupons on them.
So have to see if those are still available.
It's not like they are out in the open
and you have to really look to find the
refrigerated mark downs as they blend in
with other things.

I am hoping this all works out for tomorrow
as I have my fingers crossed.
Getting tired of shopping this week that's
for sure but am trying to prove a point
at how much I can buy with that $5.00.
Let's hope I can get that last $1.25 spent
so I can have one day of rest before the
weekend!!

Friday I will post the end results of my challenge
and everything I got for $5.00.
I can tell you this, as of right now I have bought
61 items!!

Eventually that money from them recycled ink
cartridges add up and can be used towards your kids
school supplies!

HOW TO SAVE PRINTER INK TIP

Most of us leave our printers turned on even when we are not using them (I know I did) they said that when you do that the heat from the printer dries out the ink faster and it evaporates quicker. They said to turn the printer off when it is not in use and it would save you from buying so much ink.

I am new to learning how Walgreens works.
I have been researching how register rewards work
and how you can use them to purchase other items.

Register Rewards are considered manufacturers' coupons. Because these are the promotional offerings of manufacturers, Walgreens treats these as manufacturers' coupons. Therefore, you cannot use a manufacturer coupon AND a Register Rewards coupon in the purchase of 1 item. You must have at least as many items as manufacturer coupons. Sometimes you might need to purchase a small filler item to make the transaction work (such as a pencil, candy, etc.).

Tomorrow along with Meijer I will be tagging along
with mom to Walmarts.

Walmarts will price match sales from other stores.
So I am going to try this tomorrow.

If you have a Big Lots nearby, you’ll be excited to know that you can score an awesome bargain by price matching their ad! Starting tomorrow, 2/28-3/6, Big Lots will have All 2X, 50 oz. laundry detergent advertised 2/$5! Head on over to Walmart or Target with your local Big Lots ad and do a price match. They should be able to honor the 2/$5 advertised price. …AND to sweeten this deal even further, use two $2/1 coupons from the 2/7 RP. Your final cost will be just $0.50 per detergent! What an awesome deal! (hip 2 save)

I have been doing coupons now for a little over a year.
I am always learning new ways to save money while grocery
shopping.

This week I am learning how to use register rewards
and how to price match with store ads.

While Walmarts will do this, I don't think
Meijer or Kroger will.
Target I believe will also price match
other stores sales.

I haven't gotten anything off Freecycle lately.
Today I seen a post come across for 3 free
Sprint phones with chargers and my good friend picked them
up for me since they were on her end of town.
Will post pics tomorrow after she drops them off.

I don't need any fancy phone. One that calls out
and people are able to call in, plain as that.

We pay $10 each a month on our phones for a total
of $20 a month because we got on our mom's family
plan. You can't beat that to call and talk Sprint
to Sprint free. Plus between 4 phones we get
700 minutes to call anyone. It's free minutes
after 7pm and free minutes Saturday and Sunday.

Total cost for 4 family members is around $90 a month.
Mom and my step dad pays for their original $70
they signed up for then added each of our 2 phones
for an additional $20 ($10 each phone). So that
is how we get our cell phones so cheap each month.

So ask family or friends if you can join them on their
plans to keep your costs way down on your cell
phone bills.

Sprint will add a total of 5 lines
for $99.96

This is our plan

Talk for Family
Plan Summary

Monthly Price
700 Shared Minutes $69.99
Line 1 included in monthly price
Line 2 included in monthly price
Line 3 $9.99
Line 4 $9.99
Total for 4 shared lines $89.97

Winding down the evening looking at photos from
last year. Here's a rewind of last years
deals and things we've done to cut back.

paid .54 cents total for everything in photo.

my pantry
used old cupboards we got free at hubby's
work to store the overflow of groceries in
the basement.

Paid $15.21 for everything seen in photo.

3 55 gallon water barrels we made last year.
They catch rain water from the roof to water
flowers and the veggie garden.
Found the barrels on Craigslist for I think about $5 each.
I painted them with leftover house paint to match
the house.
We used scrap wood someone gave us for free along
with lattice to make the stand for the barrels.

I saved about $40 a month by hanging up all
my laundry outside instead of using the dryer.

Last year we had a hanging garden.
Found hanging flower baskets at the flea market
for .25 cents each.
We got the gazebo free of freecyle. The canvas was
torn in a wind storm so recycled the frame
for our hanging garden.

5 packs of chicken $5.00 ($1.00 each)

Paid $19.32 for 29.61lbs of chicken breasts
.65 cents a pound

Paid $24.61 for everything.

Paid $9.08 for everything.

Paid $10.72 for everything.

Paid $6.48 for 24 bottles of pop. Not all are shown
in photo because I had given some away.
