NO COLUMBUS SCHOOLS TODAY

Oh goodie, lol.

__________________________________________________

I keep hearing that you can possibly pick
up a Columbus Dispatch at Dollar Tree.
Don't know as I haven't tried to buy one there.
But that would be cool to be able to pick up
a few more Sunday papers for a buck
to get some extra coupons.

My tip when buying newspapers from stores
is to check to see if the coupon inserts are
in there before purchasing. A lot of times
people are coming up empty handed.

I get asked this a lot, where can I find
printable coupons?

So I have compiled a list of where to find them.

My hint is to check the manufacture's websites.
For example type in your browser:
www.manufacture.com
replacing manufacture with a brand name
you are looking for.
Look under tabs such as:
promotions, offers and coupons

It's almost Spring cleaning time!!

Time to weed out all those unwanted items
and donate them.

I asked H&R Block about how to go about claiming
those donations.
She told me to save all the receipts (you get a
receipt when dropping off items at a thrift store
or when Kidney Foundation does a pick up).

You can also keep records online at:
NETWORK FOR GOOD
It is a Secure website to keep records of donations.

Tithing is also considered to be a donation to a church.
Keep track of those also.

Your total donations to charities — cash and noncash — can equal 50 percent of your adjusted gross income. Anything above that cannot be deducted in the year you donate. However, you can deduct your excess donations on next year’s return. In fact, you can “carry forward” excess contributions for up to four more years beyond the year you donated.

You will need to figure out the value of the items
donated. She said I did not need to keep a list
of all the items just the value amount
with the receipt.

BUT I have read online:

You’ll want to keep meticulous records of all your donations throughout the year. Write down dates, exactly what was donated, what condition the item was in and how much it was valued at the time of donation. Get signatures from the organization that accepted the donation.
You will need to go to these places below
to put a value on your donations. They have
a long list of items and what they feel they
are worth.

This morning I plan to head to Walgreens & Kroger.

Sitting here at the moment trying to round
up coupons, sales and figure out Catalinas

I will let you know the outcome of today's

coupons, sales and Catalinas when I return.
Every week I try to spend $40 to $45

Been running around like a chicken with it's
head cut off.

Tony had to get a couple estimates on his truck today.
Looks like he should be getting it repaired in the near
future. This is from where the guy at work hit it
with the snow plow.

__________________________________________________

Tonight's Supper

I just threw it together with what I had, no recipe.

I had a whole chicken in the crock pot today to
use for the next couple of meals. It was driving
the cat and dog nuts!

Chicken Cordon Bleu Roll Ups (my recipe)

1 can 8 count Grand Biscuits .69 cents
1/2 chicken breast - .72 cents - (about 1/4 of my chicken)
8 slices Kroger swiss cheese $1.15
8 slices Oscar Mayer honey ham slices - free
1/2 cup Kroger bacon ranch dressing- .25 cents

TOTAL COST: $2.81
5 servings @ .56 cents a serving
(kids 1.5 each, tony 2, me 1, tony's lunch 2)

I think next time I might add a box of
Green Giant's broccoli and cheese to the roll ups.

1.) Roll out biscuits to a 6" circle.

2.) Place slice of swiss cheese on biscuit.

3.) Place ham slice on top of swiss cheese.

4.) Place a piece of chicken on top of ham.
Squirt about a teaspoon or so of ranch dressing on top.

5.) Roll up biscuits and arrange on baking sheet
with seam side down.
Put in preheated 350 degree oven
for about 15 minutes or until tops are golden.

6.) Serve with ranch dressing to dip in.

BEST BUY

Went to Best Buy at Polaris this evening.
What a pain in the rear they are!
We were interested in a computer they
had out for display. It clearly stated on the
computer's sticker that it had a 5 in 1 card reader
on board which it did not!! I bitched and complained
to the salesman, service desk and the manager that
I wanted the price discounted to reflect that it
did not have the options which was clearly stated
on the computer. To me it was false advertisement!
When I went to the service desk
she called over a walkie or whatever it is they have
for the manager about the situation.
I took the manager back to the computer on display
and I'll be damned if the salesman I spoke to earlier
didn't take the sticker off the computer so I couldn't
show him!! GRRRRR!!! No matter how much I bitched it
got me nowhere with getting the price reduced.

Then I pick up an anti-virus/spyware program I saw
hanging on a shelf that I thought was marked down
to $2.99. It said $2.99 on a yellow sticker on the
front. I get up to the checkout and the cashier
asks me what kind of plan I wanted. I was like
Do What? She said for the anti virus program, do
I want the $50, $60 or $70 plan. I had no clue
what she was talking about. I said the anti virus
program was $2.99. She says no, you pay $2.99
just for the disc then you have to pay these
other prices to operate it. AHHHHH.

I was out of my territory and getting nowhere with people.
I was fighting a losing battle with everything I knew.
I came so drained and flustered. I am in no hurry
to go back there anytime soon.

I have a question so if anyone has an answer please
feel free to comment.

There is a $3.00 off Prevacid Walgreen coupon.

I have a Kroger Catalina $6.00 off Prevacid.
While it does have a Kroger logo on it,
it does say manufacture coupon.

Does Walgreens accept these catalinas?

Sure would like to stack coupons on this deal if I can
because heartburn medicines are sooo expensive
and my hubby uses them all the time.

I am currently working on baking the cake for the
cupcake pops.

In order to make these cookie pops you need a dense cake.
So I did a little research and found how to make
a cake mix denser. You do not want a light and
fluffy cake that is typically made with these mixes
or it will fall apart.

CAKE MIX MADE DENSER

1 pkg of any kind of cake mix
Plus all the ingredients it calls for on the box
(I used a Raspberry Chocolate cake mix found at Aldis)

In addition:

1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup Crisco oil - OR 1/2 cup softened butter (I used butter)
1- small 4 serving size pudding mix (I used white chocolate pudding)

-Beat the butter,
-Then add all of the ingredients the cake mix called for
(ex: eggs, butter/oil, water)
-Then all of the other ingredients listed above

Blend on low for 1 minute,
then 2 minutes on medium, scraping the bowl down.

Pour into a 9" x 13" baking pan.

Generally, cook at 325F for the larger cakes,
add about 10-15 minutes to the times given on the cake mix box.
I checked every 5 minutes or so over the cake mix times.

You will get about 6 1/2 cups of batter from this recipe.

Click link for Cupcake pops above to see how to assemble.

I do a lot of printing! Especially for coupons
and rebates. So I would like to make a recommendation
for a cheap printer.
It's an HP D1660 printer.
Can be found at Microcenter for $34.99

I just refilled my ink cartridges today for the first time
and it was a breeze! Just pull back the top sticker
and wallah, it already has predrilled holes for
filling your ink. Can't get easier than that!!
Directions for refilling are here.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND A 3 IN 1 PRINTER if you are looking to
save money printing things!! If you need the scanner & copier
then fine. It is VERY expensive because those type of
ink cartridges CANNOT be refilled. It just won't register
with the printer/computer. So don't waste your time nor money
no matter how cheap they may be. It will cost you in the long
run buying new cartridges which can cost upwards of $50 plus for
both color and black!!

I find my printer ink refill kits at Big Lots for $7.99
and can refill my cartridges many, many times!!

While you can save some money at Walgreens when they
run sales for refilling ink cartridges, you can
save soooo much more by doing it yourself!!

________________________________________________________

8:30pm

Cake's done and cooling. Will start assembling everything
together tomorrow. Too tired tonight to do anymore with it.
For about the next half hour I'll sit here and do about
8 more favor boxes. Ahhhh!

Maybe Tuesday I'll start making large cookies
and icing them to resemble smiley faces.
I can't wait to get all this stuff done!!

I bought a pack of 50 paper cd sleeves with
plastic circular fronts for $1.99 today
at Microcenter. I plan to use those to put
the cookies in. Here's an example of how the
cd paper sleeves work for cookies :-)

Took the kids sledding today at Grigg's Reservoir.

The sledding hill was really fast today!
At the bottom of the sledding hill is a parking lot
with plowed snow to help stop the kids when coming
down the hill. Unfortunately it does not stop all
the kids and they end up going up and over, lol.
Christopher did at the end of this video and that's the
reason for the camera looking at the parking lot at
times. Tony and a couple other people had to stop him
before he got road rash. Too late as he scuffed up
his knees.

BATH TIP

A lot of times I get Quaker rolled oats oatmeal on sale for free or cheap.
Sometimes I get so much I don't know what to do with it.

Here is a tip of something I do with the extras:

I have one can of regular oatmeal then another can
of oatmeal I ground up in the food processor.

Whenever we have dry skin I add the powdered oatmeal to the
bath water.

No food processor? Add 1/2 to 1 cup regular oatmeal
to a sock and tie the end up. Put it in the bath water.
Squish it a few times and use all over body for softer skin.
I'm sure everyone has a sock that has lost it's mate
so this is a way to recycle those socks :)

Also you can make a paste with the powdered oatmeal
and apply to poison ivy and mosquito bites.

__________________________________________________________

This evening I am getting a head start on making
bakery boxes for Jonathan's class project.
After doing a few trial and error boxes
I found one I really liked, well something
that was easy to cut out and put together, lol.
I found the cardstock white paper at Big Lots,
75 sheets for $2. Then put them in the printer
so each box would have designs on them.
Here is the template I am using.

I have only just started to make the boxes
and haven't even begun to make the mini
cupcakes. So here is a visual for ya...

I plan on making mini cupcakes to put in them.

Earlier today I found mini cupcake wrappers
at Kroger for .52 cents for 100 of them.

I plan to put these candy dipped "cupcakes"
on the wrappers and in each box.

Hubby doesn't understand why I just don't go
out and buy premade favor boxes!
Here's why...
I can make 75 favor boxes for $2.00!!
Now check out how much Target wants for only 25 of them!!
By doing it myself I am saving $61.00!!!
WHY ASK WHY!

So as you can see I will be very very busy this evening
with cutting, cutting and more cutting and putting
together all these favor boxes!
The things I do for my kids, ahhhh.
It's part of being a mom though, lol.

9:30pm
this is about as far as I got with making favor boxes.
