I love Food Networks,
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy!!
Makes me hungry every time I watch it!

Anyway I saw this Cheeseburger Soup
from a recent show and thought
about making it, mmmmm!
Video from show.
She actually puts lettuce in the soup!

---------------------------------------

12:00pm

We're getting a "new" dishwasher today
from Tony's boss.
It's an $800+, 2 year old dishwasher for $100.
Stainless steel tub, hidden controls,
quiet running and doesn't require scrubbing
dishes ahead of time!
Trying to upgrade our dishwasher with
one that is more efficient.
This could save us $40 a year.

His boss bought all new stainless steel
appliances. He paid allot of money for
a newer stainless steel dishwasher
and they say it does not clean as well
as the one they are selling us!!

We're also wanting to purchase a new
side-by-side refrigerator that is more efficient
with an energy star rating.
Our fridge is late 80's to early 90's model.
This could save us $100 a year!
We saw a new side-by-side fridge
at Sears Outlet for as low as $350!
It had ice and water in door.
Plus we wouldn't have to use our
water cooler anymore. Which I read
that some water coolers can use as much
or even more electric than a refrigerator
depending if it has hot and cold spouts.

Check out ENERGY STAR
for more information on how to save money with
more efficient items in your home.

Other Energy Star savings we have:

Replaced old tube tv with lcd.
Lcd tvs use 40% less energy.

We replaced our freezer when we moved into
our home with one that was 2 years old.
By doing this it saves us up to $35 a year!

We've done away with using desk
top computers and now use laptops.
typical laptops uses 20–90 Watts, compared to 100–800 Watts for desktops.

So by making little changes over
time by replacing your appliances or electronics
could help you save a bunch of money!!
This is not something that happens overnight
due to the cost.

---------------------------------

3:50pm

Went & picked up our dishwasher.
Tony's boss was nice enough to
also give us the over the range microwave
(about 6 years old).
Can't pick that up though til tomorrow
or Tuesday due to space in the truck.
I guess his boss is taking back their
new dishwasher and getting another
kind since they don't like the new on
they got. He was telling us he saw
the exact dishwasher that we're buying
from him at the store now for $1,100!!

We stopped by Kroger on the way home
to pick up some milk & pop.
Here's some mark downs I found when there:

-2 half gallons eggnog .49 cents each
-gallon milk $1.29 doesn't expire til 1-15.
(reg $2.50)
-package salami $1.29 (reg. $2.50)
-large can of coffee $2.99 (reg. $5.99)
-boxes of bacon $1.00 each (reg. $2.99)

Not marked down but on sale:

-Kroger Doritos $1.67
-Kroger Italian sausage $1.40

I also saw large packages of pork chops,
about 10 chops, reg. $15 marked down to $6.80.
Didn't get any since I am already stocked
up with pork chops and have limited
freezer space.
.

Well we are getting ready to haul
in the dishwasher. Can't let it sit out
in the truck. More than likely it has water
in the lines and if left out in freezing
cold temps it will freeze.

----------------------------------

Neither me nor mom are doing any
major grocery shopping this week.
If I do go with her to the store I will
only be shopping for the cheapies or
freebies items.
Hoping to spend around $10.00 or less.
So here is my list for this week for Meijers:

4 Ronzoni Garden Delight pastas $2.00

4 Ronzoni Healthy Harvest Pasta $2.00

4 Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta $2.00

2 bags green giant vegetables- FREE

1 head lettuce

Italian & Ranch dressing

-----------------------------

6:30pm

"New" dishwasher being installed.

Energy Star

-------------------------------------

Baby Bassinet Cupcakes
are now on Jelly Bellies website.

------------------------------------

It's been 1 month yesterday and I have yet to hear
from the car lot where we purchase our car.
No instrument cluster and no car lot owner
at my door delivering it like he promised.
Too bad I feel like crap to wanna go chew
them another butt hole at the moment.
They already have several thanks to me, lol.
At the moment if I get worked up about
anything it gives me a coughing fit.
Heck going up and down the stairs
to do laundry gives me fits.

8:50am

I got an email from PepBoys saying my
rebate was on it's way. Here is what it said:
"
was mailed on 01/07/2011. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for your check to arrive"
Makes you wonder if it's being sent
by pony express!!

------------------------------------

10:00am

Eating breakfast then will head out
to the train show at the convention center.
Sounds like fun with all this snow!
Taking my camera along since
we haven't been to this show before :0)
We gave Christopher a choice, either
the train show or monster trucks and
he chose the trains, go figure.

Today I'm going to throw some
homemade chili in the crock pot
when we get home. Sounded good
on a cold day!

I also have another inspiration for
another jelly bean cupcake.
Here's a hint:
.
bluejay.

----------------------------------------------

2:40pm

Back home and got chili in the crock.
2 cans red kidney beans
1/2 of a large can leftover crushed tomatoes
jar of salsa (green & red bell peppers, tomatoes & onions)
1/2 onion diced
1/3 - 1/2 container V8 vegetable juice
1 pound bob evans maple sausage
chili powder
salt & pepper

Serve with shredded sharp cheddar cheese
& oyster crackers.

-------------------------

Train Show

We had to park about 2 city blocks from the
convention center to get to the train show.
The truck said it was 19 degrees out
and that didn't include wind chill, BRRR-
BRRR and double BRRRR!!!

.
...........

Kendra, since you are the only one
that has seen my home...Whaddya think?

I had always wanted to see what
our living area would look like if our
kitchen walls were knocked down
and made into a more open floor plan.
I found a photo of a house like ours
that has those walls removed.
It's a house on our street for sale.
Doesn't it look so much more spacious?
I don't know if I would like the long
counter where it is. I was thinking more
of maybe an island in the middle of the kitchen
with storage cabinets underneath.
This way you would still have two ways
to access the kitchen instead of just one.
So imagine the cabinets pushed over
more into the kitchen and a little shorter in length.
It would give the dining room more space
because it's too small as it is now with our table.
And hey lookie, there are hardwood floors
underneath this carpet. Everyone keeps
saying they have hardwood in their
homes on the street.

Why is it my honey can't get the same
visual as me? Isn't that how it usually works?
He's afraid I'll loose cupboard space.
What cupboard space would I be losing
I have no upper cabinets on the walls
I want removed.

I know I am thinking too much at the moment
but got excited when I saw photos that
showed another home with the walls removed
which showed there was no load bearing walls
to worry about!
It's just a vision so who's to say if it would
ever be done. I'm sure everyone thinks
about what they would do different about
there house.

------------------------------------

9:40am

Still feeling like poo poo!!
Now I have the runny nose, yuck!
My head's so in a cloud at the moment
I almost took heartburn pills instead
of ibuprofen. The bottles looked the same.
It was a good thing the heartburn medicine
was a different shape!

My house is in a shambles
and all I'm thinking about doing
is going back to bed!

Found a couple of sample freebies
of Emergen-C 1,000mg. It was the kind you pour
into a glass of water, yuck.
And it says you can take twice a day
for a total of 2,000mg. I think that's
a little much of vitamin c for 1 day!

I can't take my mouth temp with a stuffed up nose.
So I have been doing it under the arm.
When taking temps under the arm
you are supposed to add a degree.
So my temp is still hanging around 100.7.
3 days of a fever. Sure wish it would break!
3.5 days of feeling sick.
I think an average cold can last 5-7 days
but some can last up to 2 weeks.
A viral (cold) fever can last 2-3 days typically
but could go as long as 2 weeks.

Well I think I'm gonna go and fill up the vaporizer
and head back to bed!!
It's only 10am! Nigh nigh.

It's looking like a hot dog and macaroni
& cheese night. A supper that Tony
can make for everyone, lol.

A kid, who looked like a young junior high student,
came to the door asking for the boys, who
are not even home from school yet.
I said they weren't home yet so he asks
what time it was. I say 10 til 4.
He says can you tell me what that means!
I then say 3:47. He understood that but
couldn't understand 10 til 4!!
What are they teaching kids in school???

HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY TO CHRISTOPHER!!

----------------------------------------

7:30am

Still no change with feeling any better.
I woke up to cold chills, fever 100.7
and what felt like the Sahara Desert
in my mouth. It hurts like heck in
my chest and ribs when I cough!
I didn't sleep well and took my inhaler to
bed with me. I had to prop myself up
to sleep because it was more difficult
to breathe laying flat.
I called my mom last night to see if my step-dad
could take her to her dentist appointment today.

I got a cupcake train to finish when I feel
the first burst of energy. I'll just pull up
a stool to the kitchen counter because
you know the feeling you get when feeling
a little tipsy? Well that's how I feel minus the
alcohol. I'm afraid of screwing up these
cupcakes because my mind isn't fully functional
at the moment.
Gosh I sound like a big cry baby at the moment
but it's how I feel. I get agitated not being
able to move around and do things.

-------------------------------------

9:30am

Boy the ibuprofen I've been taking helps
sooo much with body aches and chills! If it wasn't
for that I'd probably be back in bed.
I've been trying to work on the train
little by little.
I took graham crackers and cut each
square into fours to make the wood
for the railroad track.

Sitting here looking out the window
and are starting to see snowflakes, yuck!

------------------------------------

11:00am

I got the train cupcakes completed! Whew!

11:30am - 3:30pm

4 hour nap!
Got up and took some more ibuprofen
due to feeling chilled again.

5:15pm

Feeling a little better thanks to the ibuprofen.
Might try to make it to Ci Ci's tonight.
I'll just have to take it slow and easy!
Oh the things I do for people no matter
how I feel!!!!

What are the chances that I just got an email
from Ci Ci's Pizza with a coupon for
2 can dine for $9.99
which includes 2 entrees and 2 drinks!
This could not have been time any more perfect!!
Sorry it's not a coupon I can share as I have
to print out the email they sent.
You can sign up for their EClub HERE
to be sent special offers!

Well I just submitted my cupcake train
to Jelly Belly's contest.
I think it takes 48 hours before it will
show up on the website.
I called it Jelly Belly Express!

------------------------

5:45pm - 8:25pm

Finally home, whew, what a mess it
was out there. I swear it took about an hour
to go down Morse Rd to Hamilton Rd
because traffic was at a crawl with the snow.
The first thing I ate when arriving at Ci Ci's?
Chicken Noodle Soup!

We stopped in Kroger at Stoneridge since
it was by Ci Ci's. Needed some more
ibuprofen and some batteries for Christophers
train he got for his birthday.
I browsed the mark downs.
Found boxes of candy canes for .10 cents
and bagged peppermints for .25 cents.
Got them to suck on since I'm coughing like crazy.
Also found lil bags of walnuts for .50 cents each.
Christopher found a toy he got with money
the grandparents gave him for his birthday.
It was $29.99 marked down to $14.99.
Anyways I'm glad to be back home
to rest! My body feels jittery when I'm up
moving around like I have little energy.

.
.......And of course with my jitters I had
to make a mess all over me!!

11:00am

Left for Meijers around 8:20am
and just now got home.
My back and legs are hurting
pretty good from all the walking.

Meijers Christmas items are 90% off.
Christmas food items 75% off.

I got beaded red garland for .70 cents
for 9 foot. Regular $7.00.
Thinking about doing a red & white
tree next Christmas.
Too bad I couldn't find red ball ornaments.

Also got huge Christmas ball ornaments,
packs of 2 for .70 cents.
Also regular $7.00 each.
These are the kind you hang from
trees outdoors.

Christmas Betty Crocker cake mixes
.39 cents each

Nestle Tollhouse Christmas chips .66 cents each.
Mint & chocolate mix.

I went over my budget but along with grocieries
I got the Christmas stuff,
some little Christmas gifts,
birthday cakes & ice cream &
stuff to make more jelly belly cupcakes.

It's hard to come up with ideas
for the jelly belly contest!
I have one I want to try for
Christopher's birthday I kinda came up
with this morning, so stay tuned
to see what I come up with :0)

11:20am

Ever since waking up from my nap
yesterday I have felt like crap.
Doesn't make sense as I thought a nap
would make me feel more rested.
Instead I got the cold chills, which come & go,
and now my muscles hurt from shivering.
And my chest hurts somewhat when I cough.
I've been taking hits off my inhaler
since last night. It seems to help.
I need to bounce back out of this crap
because I have a cake to make today or tomorrow,
taking everyone out to eat tomorrow at Ci Ci's,
then walking around a 100,000 foot
showroom at the train show on Saturday.

Well I think I am going to go lay down
and watch some of the Ghost Hunters
marathon that is going on today.

12:03pm

My face started to feel like it was getting hot
so I took my temperature.
I had already taken ibuprofen about
an hour ago for muscle aches.
The thermometer said 100.1 degrees.

I'm starting to wonder if I am cursed around
birthdays. On my birthday I was sick,
Christopher's is tomorrow
and I'm not feeling well either.
Wasn't sick anywhere in between those
birthdays.
grrrrr!

Mom was sick around Christmas and they came
over about a week ago for a gift exchange. They say it usually
takes a week for a virus to set in.
So now I wonder if I got her cold since
it's the same symptoms.
Well I'm popping a couple vitamin D3's and
heading to bed to go nigh nigh!

---------------------------------

This guy has an amazing voice.
He was found at Hudson & 71 off ramp
here on the North end of Columbus!
.
.

---------------------------------------------------

5:50pm

Aren't I a good mom.
I feel like bleep de bleep and I made
everyone tacos for supper
and are now working on mini
and regular sized chocolate cupcakes
for Christopher's birthday tomorrow.
Mom's never seem to get a day off,
even when sick, unless they are in the hospital.

---------------------------------

8:00pm

Well I can't take no more of baking
and are gonna go lay down.
Sickies are getting the best of me.
I try to go as long as I can
before laying down.
So if I made it this far I am doing good.
Tomorrow I need to finish Christopher's
cake, and for those of you who can't see
what it will be, it's a train made out of
cupcakes. I had a few extra
cupcakes I tinkered with also.
The train still needs it track made
along with wheels put on.
It is a steam engine (in the middle) and it
will have a coal car, the cupcake with
the black and brown jelly beans.

SunflowersMushroom
Flower pot with flowers

Panda
Then tomorrow I have to
take mom back to the dentist at 10am.
Don't know how I'm gonna survive that or
how long that will last.
And I don't think I will be getting any
adjustments for myself with the way I'm
feeling. Don't need to be breathing on
people if I can help it!

Well it's 8:15pm and I'm off to bed!
Getting chills and took my temperature
which was 100.2 degrees.
Just took 2 more ibuprofen.

Night night!

Yesterday Tony priced Lexus lug nuts
at NAPA for our car.
They want $86 for a set of 20!
($4.30 a lug nut!)
Plus you might have to wait
4 weeks for them to order it
since they have none in stock.
My solution to getting something cheaper
is always check Ebay!
I found new ones on there that are
factory lug nuts for $17 with $5 shipping, $22 total.
($1.10 a lug nut!)
That's a savings of $64!!

Ebay also came to the rescue when
we needed cell phone chargers and batteries.
I priced them at Sprint for $20 - $50.
Ebay, $2-$3!!

Another example is Tony wears
diabetic socks. Those are ridiculously
expensive in stores, like around $3-$5 a pair!
($72-$120 if I bought 24 pair)
One year I got him 2 dozen new socks for about $25
on Ebay!

Oh, Tony was able to get both calipers unfrozen, yeah.
If not, 2 new ones would have cost $160!
So there was another $160 saved!

Well I've gotten my grocery list
about 95% done.
Still need to go over my list
and see what I really need and
what we could do without.
Just because something may be
a really good deal does not mean
you should get it.

--------------------------------

Mom's dentist appointment went
much quicker today!
The appointment was for 11:00am.
We got there at 10:35 and was out
at 10:50! So glad it wasn't as long
as yesterday!
We go back Thursday at 10am.
I decided I would also get some adjustments
made also while there for $20.

Ooh goodie. I get to take me a nappie today.
I haven't had one in about a month it seems.
I so need one to get caught up with my sleep.

------------------------------------

4:00pm

I've been cranking the heat back to 69 degrees
during the day then back up to 72/73 in the evening.
I'm hoping to cut back on gas and electric some.

Supper has been in the crock.
I've got pork chops with leftover sauerkraut.
Then for sides will have mac & cheese and corn.
Pork chops $2.73
corn .35 cents
Mac & cheese .60 cents
sauerkraut (leftover) free

Total $3.68
Serves 5 @ .73 cents a serving

----------------------

4:45pm

Ever get cold chills without a cold or fever?
That's me right about now, brrr.
I can't seem to get warm.
I turned the heat up to 73 degrees
and put a sweater on.
Now my muscles hurt from shivering
so I popped a couple ibuprofen.

I think I went over my grocery list
about 4 times trying to get it down to
a price amount that I liked.
Well to the point my head is hurting anyway!
It will still cut into next weeks grocery money.
The most expensive item I need to get
isn't food anyway, it's heartburn medicine
which could run $7-$10 by itself for store brand.
And also I need birthday cake mixes and ice cream for
two birthdays this month.
So those 5 items are actually extra expenses
that I don't get all the time.
So that's where I am running over with my budget.
What I'm getting tomorrow along with
what I have in the stockpile should get us
through til the end of the month.
I also made a meal list so I know
what to make with what I buy and
what I have on hand.

I think the only meat I am getting tomorrow is a
pound of ground sausage. I'm pretty stocked
up with meat for the moment.
And even then I plan to stretch that sausage.
I want to make tacos and taco salad.
So I will use only a half pound of sausage
for each meal and mix it with some
rice to stretch it. Rice goes with
Mexican meals anyway.

1-3-11

Starting today I'm gonna try to save all receipts
throughout the year for grocery shopping alone
to see how much we spend over 12 months time.
Won't be easy as I might forget sometimes
or misplace a receipt but will give it my best.
I'm gonna get a gallon zip bag
and label it grocery receipts and place them
all in there.

9:00am - 2:30pm

Been at the dentist office with mom.
Still have to take her back tomorrow at 11:00am.
Then go back Thursday.

Sooo, looks like this week Wednesday
will be grocery shopping day.
That'll give me an extra day to make up
my list and round up any coupons :0)

Well gonna go lay on the couch and rest my eyes
til the bus comes. I stayed up late last night
trying to finish everything.
I was falling asleep in the dentist's office
waiting room!

-------------------------------

Well I guess about 35 minutes of resting
my eyes will have to do.
I awoke to someone knocking on the door.
It was a friend of the boys saying
he was locked out of his house. I let him in and let him
use the phone to call his dad.
Dad's on the way home and so is this kid
now. He actually lives a couple blocks from here.
So it's good to know this kid won't be outside
in this bitter cold!

It's 3:45pm. I threw in the second
turkey pizza I had made. Yeah, I know,
we had turkey pizza yesterday and are
having it two days in a row.
I'm just that tired to make anything else.
I really wanted some pork chops done up
in the crock pot with some sauerkraut.
Maybe tomorrow.

One thing I do have to do is make
some bread cubes or croutons.
I weeded out my freezer of all
the extra bread and heels I had been saving
and have it all thawed out.
So that needs to be cut up,
tossed with oil and baked before it
goes bad.

-------------------------------------

7:50pm

My Tea Party Cupcakes
are now on Jelly Belly!

Got all my bread cut up and made into
croutons tonight.
You'd be amazed at how much bread
you would throw away with just the heels alone!
I save them all until I have a bunch to
make croutons. I can then make stuffing,
use them on salads or put into food
processor and use on meats as breading.

McDonalds is running a special
at the moment.
I saw it on the menu when me & mom
ate there today.
4 hamburger or cheeseburgers
AND
4 fries
for $5.00.

Time to stock up on those Meijer sales
this week with some produce for $1.00
or other produce on sale.
Buy things that you can freeze.
Like the $1.00 carrots and onions can be blanched
and frozen or if you have the time and patience,
put in a food dehydrator.
