I have a question so if anyone has an answer please
feel free to comment.

There is a $3.00 off Prevacid Walgreen coupon.

I have a Kroger Catalina $6.00 off Prevacid.
While it does have a Kroger logo on it,
it does say manufacture coupon.

Does Walgreens accept these catalinas?

Sure would like to stack coupons on this deal if I can
because heartburn medicines are sooo expensive
and my hubby uses them all the time.

I am currently working on baking the cake for the
cupcake pops.

In order to make these cookie pops you need a dense cake.
So I did a little research and found how to make
a cake mix denser. You do not want a light and
fluffy cake that is typically made with these mixes
or it will fall apart.

CAKE MIX MADE DENSER

1 pkg of any kind of cake mix
Plus all the ingredients it calls for on the box
(I used a Raspberry Chocolate cake mix found at Aldis)

In addition:

1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup Crisco oil - OR 1/2 cup softened butter (I used butter)
1- small 4 serving size pudding mix (I used white chocolate pudding)

-Beat the butter,
-Then add all of the ingredients the cake mix called for
(ex: eggs, butter/oil, water)
-Then all of the other ingredients listed above

Blend on low for 1 minute,
then 2 minutes on medium, scraping the bowl down.

Pour into a 9" x 13" baking pan.

Generally, cook at 325F for the larger cakes,
add about 10-15 minutes to the times given on the cake mix box.
I checked every 5 minutes or so over the cake mix times.

You will get about 6 1/2 cups of batter from this recipe.

Click link for Cupcake pops above to see how to assemble.

I do a lot of printing! Especially for coupons
and rebates. So I would like to make a recommendation
for a cheap printer.
It's an HP D1660 printer.
Can be found at Microcenter for $34.99

I just refilled my ink cartridges today for the first time
and it was a breeze! Just pull back the top sticker
and wallah, it already has predrilled holes for
filling your ink. Can't get easier than that!!
Directions for refilling are here.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND A 3 IN 1 PRINTER if you are looking to
save money printing things!! If you need the scanner & copier
then fine. It is VERY expensive because those type of
ink cartridges CANNOT be refilled. It just won't register
with the printer/computer. So don't waste your time nor money
no matter how cheap they may be. It will cost you in the long
run buying new cartridges which can cost upwards of $50 plus for
both color and black!!

I find my printer ink refill kits at Big Lots for $7.99
and can refill my cartridges many, many times!!

While you can save some money at Walgreens when they
run sales for refilling ink cartridges, you can
save soooo much more by doing it yourself!!

________________________________________________________

8:30pm

Cake's done and cooling. Will start assembling everything
together tomorrow. Too tired tonight to do anymore with it.
For about the next half hour I'll sit here and do about
8 more favor boxes. Ahhhh!

Maybe Tuesday I'll start making large cookies
and icing them to resemble smiley faces.
I can't wait to get all this stuff done!!

I bought a pack of 50 paper cd sleeves with
plastic circular fronts for $1.99 today
at Microcenter. I plan to use those to put
the cookies in. Here's an example of how the
cd paper sleeves work for cookies :-)

Took the kids sledding today at Grigg's Reservoir.

The sledding hill was really fast today!
At the bottom of the sledding hill is a parking lot
with plowed snow to help stop the kids when coming
down the hill. Unfortunately it does not stop all
the kids and they end up going up and over, lol.
Christopher did at the end of this video and that's the
reason for the camera looking at the parking lot at
times. Tony and a couple other people had to stop him
before he got road rash. Too late as he scuffed up
his knees.

BATH TIP

A lot of times I get Quaker rolled oats oatmeal on sale for free or cheap.
Sometimes I get so much I don't know what to do with it.

Here is a tip of something I do with the extras:

I have one can of regular oatmeal then another can
of oatmeal I ground up in the food processor.

Whenever we have dry skin I add the powdered oatmeal to the
bath water.

No food processor? Add 1/2 to 1 cup regular oatmeal
to a sock and tie the end up. Put it in the bath water.
Squish it a few times and use all over body for softer skin.
I'm sure everyone has a sock that has lost it's mate
so this is a way to recycle those socks :)

Also you can make a paste with the powdered oatmeal
and apply to poison ivy and mosquito bites.

This evening I am getting a head start on making
bakery boxes for Jonathan's class project.
After doing a few trial and error boxes
I found one I really liked, well something
that was easy to cut out and put together, lol.
I found the cardstock white paper at Big Lots,
75 sheets for $2. Then put them in the printer
so each box would have designs on them.
Here is the template I am using.

I have only just started to make the boxes
and haven't even begun to make the mini
cupcakes. So here is a visual for ya...

I plan on making mini cupcakes to put in them.

Earlier today I found mini cupcake wrappers
at Kroger for .52 cents for 100 of them.

I plan to put these candy dipped "cupcakes"
on the wrappers and in each box.

Hubby doesn't understand why I just don't go
out and buy premade favor boxes!
Here's why...
I can make 75 favor boxes for $2.00!!
Now check out how much Target wants for only 25 of them!!
By doing it myself I am saving $61.00!!!
WHY ASK WHY!

So as you can see I will be very very busy this evening
with cutting, cutting and more cutting and putting
together all these favor boxes!
The things I do for my kids, ahhhh.
It's part of being a mom though, lol.

9:30pm
this is about as far as I got with making favor boxes.

2-19-10

20% off your entire purchase at Big Lots
Sunday February 21 from 5-9pm.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday I bought 2 travel size right guard deodorants.
I wasn't sure what to do with them considering they
are not Tony's brand that he uses.

I had a great idea to give them to the boys as their
own smaller sized version of deodorant.
Perfect for their smaller hands.
They love having their own deodorant and being like
dad.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Today I was on the hunt for an over the door shoe organizer.
I need one to put Jonathan's shoes, socks and undies in.
The kids don't have a dresser in their rooms so I use
these instead to store those items.

First I tried Big Lots.
I found one on the shelf and discovered it did not
have the brackets in the package that makes it
hang from a door. I asked an employee if I could
get a discount on it because it had those missing parts.
I was told I could get .80 cents off the $8.00 price tag.
.80 cents was not enough of a discount for me to buy it!
No hangers defeats the purpose of it being able to hang
on a door to use!

So next we tried Dollar General.
No luck there as they only had a wire shoe rack.
But while there I found a box of 6 count pop tarts
half off for only .50 cents.

We finally ended up at Dollar Tree. I found some similar
pocket pouches that wasn't for over the door. I figured
I could screw them into the wall or door. And for only
a buck I bought 4 of them with a total of 20 pouches
for only $4.00. Pretty good when compared to $8 at Big Lots.

Don't know if everyone is aware that Dollar Tree sells
refrigerated/frozen food.

Just a few items I saw today:

-Italian sausage (almost bought but saw the word hot on the
package and had to pass)

-2 cups shredded cheese packages (bought 2)

-American cheese slices (bought 1)

-frozen blueberries (mom bought 1)

-frozen strawberries (mom bought 1)

Check out these cookbooks/websites with recipes
made only from items bought at dollar stores.
The 99¢ Only Stores Cookbook

The .99 Cents Chef

Here are the 4 pocket pouches mounted to the wall
in Jonathan's bedroom behind his door.
I removed the string hanger and used the holes
from that to screw it to the wall.
I love these things to stay organized.
No rummaging through drawers.
Everything is neat and tidy and you can see
everything through the clear pouches.

Join Nielsen Home Scan Consumer Panel

Here is the email I received from them:

The National Consumer Panel is a joint venture between The Nielsen Company and Information Resources, Inc., two well-respected providers of research services. NCP panel members share their shopping preferences with a wide range of manufacturers and retailers. These companies then use this information to decide what products to develop or improve and, ultimately, what to keep on or remove from store shelves.

This is your exclusive opportunity to be chosen as one of these specially selected households and have a direct influence on the consumer marketplace. Make your consumer voice heard, and also be eligible for fantastic gifts and prizes!

****************

And after doing a survey about our family this is the message I got...

Your household will be placed on our waiting list, and we will send you a scanner as soon as a spot on the National Consumer Panel becomes available for a household like yours. We look forward to your participation!

*******I remember about 15 years ago I belonged to the Neilson survey
panel and had a scanner I used to log in all purchases.
You would be rewarded with points that could be turned in for gifts.
So am hoping maybe one day to be able to do it again.

Sometimes those items can ring up MORE than a
regular item without the freebies!!

If this happens to you, complain to the service desk
or manager to have the price corrected and reduced!!!

If an item claims on the box it is 25% FREE
or has a FREE trial size with it, then it is FREE.
They should not be able to mark up that product
to be more than the regular sized item without the freebies!

-cake boxes

you name it, it's probably there to print out!

MIRKWOOD DESIGNS TEMPLATES (all free to print out!)

Jonathan has a project at school here in the
near future where each child has to make up their
own business. Jonathan's business is a bakery.
I used one of Mirkwood's templates to print out
and stencil onto card stock paper (Big Lots 75 sheets $2.00)
While we will bake up a bunch of goodies we decided
he should have some kind of bakery box so whoever "buys" his
goods can have something to take it home in.
Then we will add tissue paper inside the boxes.

Once we get everything done with this project
(due around March 3rd) then I get photos to post.

8:00AM

Today I'm gonna attempt to head to Meijers.
They seemed to have a lot of sales with coupon
match ups this week.
I have a stack of about
40 coupons. Some things need a price check first
to see if they are part of the sale.
And other things need a price check since
they are a percentage off and no price is listed in the ad.
It's been awhile since I did a large grocery list
so we'll see how this goes.
Got to get the kids on the bus first at 8:30am
then will head to the store.

------------------------------------------------------------------

12:30PM

DOING A HAPPY DANCE!!

Back from Meijers and had to make a pit stop at Walgreens.

For starters I got all the way to Meijers with coupon binder
in hand, got in the store and NO grocery list, ahhhhhh!
Had to truck all the way back home to get my list!

I haven't seen a good sale from Kroger or Meijer in
such a long time. When I saw this one at Meijer
I was all over it!!

Here is the break down of my shopping trip today:

I GOT $156.27 OF GROCERIES FOR $55.00.

PLUS I GOT $11.00 BACK IN CATALINA COUPONS
SO IT WAS LIKE I GOT EVERYTHING FOR $44.00!!!
HAPPY DANCE!!

RECEIPTS AND CATALINAS TELL IT ALL :-P

Then here is all the goods...$44.00 HELL YEAH!!

---------------------------------------------------------

My pit stop to Walgreens.

I had a coupon for a free Excedrin up to $5.99.
I looked for Menstrual Relief Excederin at Meijers
and they didn't have it. (which was a good thing)

I knew Walgreens had it so stopped there only to
get that one item. The cashier pages the manager
to come up to the register because of the free coupon.
He looked that coupon up and down and front and back.
he determined it was a legit coupon (because there are
fake coupons out there!).
I paid my .40 cents tax on the pills and out pops
a $2.00 Catalina coupon!!! DOUBLE WOO HOO!!
They actually paid me $1.60 to buy the Excederin!!

Mom deserves a nap now, lol. Had kids out of school for 5 days
then the first day back to school I make a big shopping trip.
I am wore out!! ZZzzzz

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh yeah I wanted everyone to know I tried something different
today at Meijers to see if it would work and it did!

Meijers accepts other stores Catalina coupons.
I knew that already but thought I would pass on the info
for those who may not have known.

BUT you cannot use other stores Catalina's at Kroger.
Doesn't even matter if it says manufacture coupon on them!
If it has another stores logo on it then forget it.
I tried and they would not take it.

MEIJERS ACCEPTS THESE TYPE COUPONS--

But was wondering if Meijer also took the other Kroger
coupons I get in the mail.
THEY DID ACCEPT THOSE OTHER COUPONS!!

AND MEIJERS ACCEPTS THESE COUPONS ALSO--

----------------------------------------------------

Being a couponer I am always learning how to save.
Here is another tip I learned.

If a coupon does not specify a size then you can also
use that coupon on trial sizes.
Makes sure it does not say "excludes trial sizes".
You can use those doubled coupons
to score some free trial or travel sized items.

I checked Meijer today and they do have a travel
size section of products. I scored 3 travel sized
deodorants for free or almost free!

-------------------------------------------------------

FREE sample of Axe Shower Gel! You do NOT need to be a Sam’s Club member to score this freebie.

-------------------------------------------------------

5:15PM

OK all done with happy dances for today.

Tony just arrived home not long ago and asked me to come out
to his truck he wanted to show me something.
I'm thinking it's a goodie or something.
But to my disappointment it wasn't.
I see these scuffs and creases in the passenger
door on the driver's side of his truck.

Right before Tony clocked out of work another
worker, newer guy, hit the truck with the company's
snowplow. So this is how my day is winding down.
You cannot see it in the photos but there are creases
in the door. It's not just scuffs.

--------------------------------------------------------

will give you a break down of the deals I got today at Meijer:

About Me

My photo
My name is Sherry, 39yrs old, from Columbus, Ohio. I am married, a SAHM, and have 3 children ages 9, 10 and 20. I have been frugal/thrifty all my life. I would like to share on this blog how we get by day to day on one income with a family of 5 with a dog and a cat. You will also hear about my everyday gripes about daily life and the cost of living. Hubby says my favorite saying is, "and that is another thing that pisses me off!"
