Well I need to make another batch of
homemade liquid laundry detergent.
I'm using a half cup of detergent in each load.
Hey if it only cost $1.25 to make for a 5 gallon bucket
and it lasted 2 months for about 32-40 loads,
I'm all for it!!

Some people say when making their own
soap that they miss the fragrance like brand names.
I read this tip that might help solve that.
You know those laundry detergent samples you get,
well add that in with your batch of soap
you make to get a little fragrance.

As for my fabric softener I make
a mixture that is diluted half and half.
I get double the fabric softener for my money.

For breakfast around here I mixed regular
rice krispies with cocoa krispies in a big
plastic container. Actually it was almost a full
box of regular and about 1/3 - 1/2 box of cocoa krispies.
This helps to cut
down on sugar and the kids still feel as
though they are eating their favorite cereals!
If it's not sweet enough for them then I add
a packet of sweet n low to their cereal.
Still, no added real sugar!

Well it's almost 10:30am.
I got some extra gifts I found wrapped up.
They were for my in-laws.

So here's a cute bunny cupcake.
Looks like you slice a large marshmallow
in half for his cheeks and slice mini
marshmallows in half for teeth.
Use chocolate candies for eyes
and jelly beans for a nose.
Cut out paper ears and insert in cupcakes.

Currently working on a plan B with cupcakes because
I did a couple trial an error marshmallow
cupcakes and they didn't turn out.
Something told me they wouldn't
that's why I tested a few cupcakes
before ruining a whole batch of cake mix.

So onto plan B.
This is something I made up!
I'll call it Swiss Fudge Rolls.

I poured a thin layer of cake batter
onto a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper,
baked 350 degrees for about 6 minutes.
It's thin so didn't take long to bake.

I then took a kitchen towel and sprinkled powdered
sugar all over it, flipped the cake onto it
and gently peeled off the wax paper.
Then sprinkled more powdered sugar on top
of the cake and then rolled the cake up,
towel and all. Allow to rest and cool.

Meanwhile in a double boiler, melt some white
chocolate. Once melted remove from heat and
stir in about a 3/4 can of frosting, I used cream cheese
flavored. Stir until it somewhat starts to thicken.

Unroll cake and gently spread fudge over top.

Then starting at one end, roll cake up, using
towel to push it along as it can be fragile.
Cut into slices and allow to sit for a couple
hours or overnight so the fudge can harden.
This isn't your ordinary swiss roll with
a cream filling.
Instead the white filling is fudge!

Got 95 Samoa Cookies made,

well almost, they still need their

chocolate drizzled across the tops.

They are cooling at the moment.

I used Kroger Value brand Nilla wafers

as the cookie base of the Samoa.

Then melted a bag of caramels

with a 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream over

med-low heat. Stirred in a whole bag

of flaked coconut and reduced heat

to low, the lowest temperature on the dial.

This way the caramel remained soft while

putting it on the cookies. I put

about a teaspoon of caramel coconut

on each nilla wafer.

My next project...

Since my brother got my mom an LCD TV

and took the gift idea we had,

I was thinking what else could I give her for

Christmas. Not all Christmas gifts have to

be items you bought from a store and wrapped up!

Offer to do housework, repairs, yard work

babysitting and thing like that.

Don't have money to get them one of those

fruit baskets of the month then make your own

gifts cards to give them to say you will bake them something nice once a month and have them give you a list of what they like.

I know I don't have time

to go out shopping and trying to figure out

what gifts to buy for some people,

let alone the money when the doctor

bills are just starting to trickle in.

So here is what I came up with that

no one else can get! Me and my hubby

offered to try and fix her vacuum for her.

Their income is tight and they really don't

have the funds to take it to a vacuum repair shop

to get it fixed at a starting price of $80.

To buy a new vac to replace this one would

cost at least $200+. So our gift to them will be for

them to save that $80-$200+ by fixing this sweeper!

We have worked on and repaired many sweepers

in the past so this shouldn't be too hard, lol.

I've never dealt with a cracked housing unit though

so this will be a first. But will give it a try!

It's been a year since AEP installed our

Smart Grid electric meter.

AEP sent us today some information

pertaining to the smart meter that sounds

good to me to possibly cut our electric

bill back even more!

Starting in January AEP electric

is offering those customers who have

a smart meter the option of 2 rate plans;

1. Smart Shift- customers pay a lower

rate for using off peak hours and a higher rate

for on peak hours.

2. Smart Cooling- Customers with central cooling

can receive a free programmable communicating

thermostat and a chance to earn credits on

Summer electric bills. This program raises your

thermostat slightly during occasional periods of

high electricity use.

Also in January smart grid customers will have

the ability to go online to see their energy usage

day-by-day, build a customized energy savings plan that

tracks their progress and compare their energy

usage with similar households.

chicken & noodles. This was leftovers

I had in the freezer. It's in a zip bag so might put

that bag into a pot of boiling water to help thaw.

Then pour into pan to heat the rest of the way through.

Add some biscuits to the top of the soup

to make some dumplings.

I am also thawing

out some already cooked chicken leg quarters for tomorrow.

Thinking about some chicken a la king

over some mashed potatoes.

I need to use up some things from the freezer

due to having a deer coming in the near future.

It's pretty cool to watch.

Now I have it in my head that I want

say I've been to one.

So maybe next year I'll start looking for

Today I have to play catch up.
I felt as though I was in slow motion yesterday,
had a headache and felt very tired and even
took a nap.
I didn't get my laundry done so guess what I get
to do today?
I also told the kids they could help
me make peanut butter cookie blossoms.
Still need to tie up a few gift bags and get those
delivered to neighbors in the near future.
Might also make Samoa cookies. Will cheat with
those though as I bought Nilla Wafers for the cookie
base and will make the coconut caramel topping
and chocolate to put on them. I usually like to buy the
fudge stripe cookies to put it on but when looking at
prices, this was the cheapest route for me.

Yesterday evening we went out on an emergency
call at Tony's work. There was an outside faucet that
was spraying everywhere. It was a mess. Water was everywhere and draining into the street causing lots of slush and ice. We threw down a bunch of salt so now I need
to wash gloves today. That stuff can eat at your clothes if
left on there. Then we had a hot water tank go out.
Got home around 7:30pm and ate supper.
As of today, no more pager for about another month!
Tony got about 10 hours or so overtime since Friday
evening. But if we get a couple snow storms this week
like they say on the news then the guys are required to go
into work early (minus the holiday) to help plow, salt and clear the walks.

Well it's almost 8am so need to go down and
start laundry and get that out of the way.

Oh, before I forget, here is the actual bike I am giving away
to a little girl in need of a Christmas gift.

I rolled the top half of dough into
a red and green sugar before baking.
These will go in remaining gift bags,
Santa's cookie tray and for Christmas dinner.

Tidying up the house in between loads of
laundry. I found a candle and started to scrape
some of it's wax into an electric potpourri dish.
I wanted the house to smell good.
It's a good thing I got this large candle at
a yard sale for .50 cents because I'd of been mighty
pissed to have paid even a couple dollars for it
in a store. This is the first time I've run across
a company cutting back on their scented candles!
What I discovered was that they put plain wax
in the middle of the candle and only put the scented
wax around the sides and on top.
If you used this candle like regular and lit
it you probably would have never known what they did
since the wax would all melt together.
So I thought I would put a bug in your
ear when purchasing large candle jars
called Candle-Lite for about $10
to remember this.

I forgot to tell ya my brother got a deer
this past weekend. He's on crutches
after knee surgery and is out hunting!
Anyway me and mom's going half on the
processing so it's good to know there
will be some meat in the freezer.
I'm guessing that my half will be around $40
as it was a doe and not a buck.
Only a guess though from past deers.
We do our deer burger with sausage mixed in.
He's still going to try and get another deer
for us. We each wanted one if possible.
His family doesn't like deer so that
how we end up with venison.
It's allot healthier for ya than any meat
you buy in the stores!

And do you know I visited 2 stores
and neither one even got the paper amps in!!
The delivery truck never brought them to them.
So to me this sounds like a scam to get
you in their store. I've seen many things

as soon as they open on the first day of the
sale and they don't have the item advertised.

This morning's breakfast-
a lil of this and a lil of that.
Trying to use up some leftovers
from baking.

2 apple cinnamon muffin mixes
cut up strawberries
1 cup milk
Combine all the above and fill greased muffin
cups 3/4 full.
In a small bowl combine a cup of granola cereal (w/raisins)
a tablespoon butter and 2 tablespoons brown sugar.
Mix good and put on tops of muffins
pressing down slightly into tops.
Sprinkle with a few white chocolate chips.
Bake about 15 - 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
Glaze-In a small bowl combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar
and a couple teaspoons of strawberry juice
leftover from the frozen strawberries.
Remove muffins from oven and drizzle
a little of the glaze over the tops.

The pager hasn't been too bad today, knock on wood
as today isn't over with yet.
Was with my hubby when the pager went off
the first time today and we ended up going on 2 calls
during that trip. It was for a clogged toilet and
a door lock that wasn't working correctly.
No sooner returned home from the store and his work
and just about got supper done when it went off
again. This time a lock out. They used to do it for
free but now are charging resident $50 for each
one! Probably because there has been so many. It would be nice if the maintenance men got that
but they don't.

Tonight's supper- Taco Salad.

Today we spent trying to tidy up the place.
I got all my baking goods, except for just a few,
taken down to the basement pantry
and I put the carts away. It feels good
to be able to walk around my kitchen now
without the carts but they sure came in handy for baking!
I still want to make some Somoa cookies for
Christmas. Just for us though to serve with Christmas dinner.

I found this recipe and thought it sounded
good to make with the sugar cookie mix I had
in place of the Bisquick mix.

Bisquick Coconut Cream Cookies

1 pkg. (3 oz.) instant coconut cream pudding
1 cup Bisquick
1 egg
1/4 cup oil
Chocolate chips (optional)

Mix well. Drop on cookie sheet. Add chocolate chips for design, if
desired. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes.
Makes 12 to 18 cookies

Whose idea was it to invent wrapping paper
to wrap gifts up, grrrrrr!!
Mom needs a break!
I've done all the baking, meal cooking
for Thanksgiving & Christmas, grocery shopping,
packing and making gift bags,
and now wrapping all these presents.
It's all about being a stay at home mom/housewife.
Shouldn't there be a holiday for stay at home
moms & dads or housewives & househusbands
where we get the day off and the kids and
other half waits on us all day, LOL!

No nap today! Ahhh and it's the last day before
Winter break. I'm gonna be at this awhile
and feel like I'm not putting a dent in wrapping
gifts! Three hours to go as the kids get out a
half hour early today.
Gone crazy, be back later.

I'd really like that tv deal they are offering this weekend
as a gift! Maybe we can try to go tonight.
Might be a hassle with having the work
pager though. Another ahhhh!

Been wrapping Christmas presents non-stop!!
For hubby, 3 kids & 4 parents.
There are still about 3 larger presents
to wrap. Hubby can do that!!
But anyway this is an all time first to
have almost all presents wrapped before
Christmas eve!! Patting myself on back
which is now broke from sitting
on floor, leaning and wrapping gifts.
Will be getting my exercise this
weekend that's for sure.
I ran up and down basement stairs about
6 times today bringing up presents and taking
them back down.
Tomorrow I'll do the same thing taking
all my baking supplies back down
to the basement pantry.
That'll be about 4-5 trips.
Then Sunday another 4-5 trips
to do laundry.

Well it's almost 3:00pm and kids should be
getting out of school and heading home
full of piss and vinegar because it starts
Winter break for the next two weeks!
I barely made it getting gifts wrapped in time
and cleaning up my mess and all evidence!

Information I bet ya didn't know
when it comes to buying tv's.
I saw this on tv.

Did you know while they offer 720
and 1080 pixels tvs you are better off
going with the 720 pixels.
Why?
Because that's what tv shows, movies
and such broadcast in!!
Cable or not,
there is nothing on tv that broadcasts
in 1080 pixels!!
Unless you have a 1080p dvd player, blu ray player
and 1080p dvd's.
Even game discs run in 720p!
So save your money when thinking
about buying a tv and go
with the lower pixel.

The only way you would enjoy an actual
1080p hd tv is to have one that
is 55 inches or larger!!

This same concept is similar to a camera also.
People think they need the higher mp's
when buying cameras.
The higher the mp's the larger the picture
you can make.
So unless you are making a photo
the size of a wall there is no need
for those higher mp cameras!!
My camera is 4mp's and that's about
all a regular person needs, maybe even
a 3mp will do.

Kids just got home and are showing
me the stuff they got today from school.
Grrrrrr!
I guess Riverside Hospital donated
hats and gloves to the school to give out
as gifts.
The ones the school gave him are
just as nice, fit better and
even camoflauged like the ones I just
bought him.
I'm taking those other gloves back
and getting my $8.50 back!!
If I had only waited 2 more days
before buying hats and gloves!
GRRRR!
Still need to take back 2 spinbrush toothbrushes
to Walmart and get another $8 back
for a total of $16.50.

The pair I got him (i'm holding)
and the pair he got at school for free
along with his hat. (he's holding or wearing)

It's not available in stores so you would
have to pay/order it online then
