10-10-10

Hey, it's 10-10-10 and it's almost 10:00am.

I forgot to mention a few things yesterday
that happened with surveys and such.

At first I had gotten an email from HouseParty saying
I qualified for the Brewstation HouseParty.
BUT then they sent an another email saying it was a mistake
that it was sent out accidentally.
They said to make it up to me they would send
me a Brewstation offer after Nov. 6th.
Anxious to see what kind of offer it is.

Then I got a online survey I did and when completed
it asked if I would want to do a telephone
survey for $75!!
I said yes, so am waiting to see if that happens.

10:30AM

This morning's breakfast is
biscuits & gravy.
2 pkgs country gravy- .80 cents
1 tube of biscuits- .40 cents
Total Cost for Breakfast- $1.20

Me & Tony aren't eating breakfast so will
take remaining of white country gravy
and make potato soup out of it.

---------------------------------------------

Here in a little bit we're heading to Kroger
to get Tony's prescriptions.
I might pick up a few items for the
dessert recipes I'll be making for the contests.
This sucks because I won't be able to share
any with the kids classrooms due to
them not accepting classroom treats anymore!
Then once home I'll continue my housework.
I try to set a goal each day of what I want done.
-finish 1 more load of laundry
-put laundry away
-clean living & dining room
-sweep & mop kitchen floor
-vacuum & carpet clean
-make Halloween cookies for contest
-make potato soup
(peel, cube & boil potatoes)

-----------------------------------

I thought this was cute, lol.

1:30pm

Just back from Kroger.
Now working on lunch.

Potato Soup

6 small- medium potatoes, peeled & cubed- .75 cents
leftover country gravy- free
1 pkg smoked sausage, cut up- $1.35
1/2 pkg pepperoni, cut up- .50 cents
small bag of broccoli- free
1 small onion, cut up- .20 cents

TOTAL COST: $2.80
don't know servings yet.

To save time:
-when boiling potatoes
and broccoli I throw them together
in the same pot.
Also saves on cleaning an extra pot!
-I threw sausage, pepperoni
& onions all in one skillet to fry
at the same time.
-To stretch out the country gravy
I put about a cup of milk, some chicken
bullion & a couple tablespoons of flour
in a shaker cup then poured it into
the sausage mixture while cooking.
added 1/2 cup more milk to make creamier.
Then added in the country gravy & stirred
in the potatoes & broccoli.

Either I was starving or that
soup was pretty darn good because
I ended up have two bowls of it!

4:00PM

Starting to wear out.
Got kitchen floor swept & mopped.
Then vacuumed the living, dining & hallway
then carpet cleaned it all.
Got towels off the clothesline that I hung
yesterday evening. Got them folded up
and put away.

Will have remaining soup for supper.
Then work on getting clean clothes put away
and some ready for tomorrow morning.
Yeah I don't have to worry about making
school lunches for tomorrow.
You just don't know what a relief that will be
from now on!!

Maybe here in a few I'll go make
some chocolate chip cookies for the contest.
Once done I'll post some pics for you to see
and tell me which one you like best because
I can only enter one.
I already have my ideas drawn out onto
paper and asked the kids which one they like
just from the drawings. So we'll see if they change
their mind once they see them made.

---------------------------------

5:50pm

Here's the three types of spooky
cookies I made.
I don't think anyone liked the worm cookies
so it's between the skulls and I haven't got
a name for the other one, the one with the teeth.
These had to be easy enough that a 3 year could
help decorate!
And it wasn't easy coming up with something
made out of chocolate chip cookie dough!
.
..I'm looking at other entries and are starting
to wonder if people even read the rules
to this contest. Like I said it was supposed to be
easy enough for a 3 year old to help decorate
and it had to be an original design.
Many of these I see I couldn't imagine a 3 year
old helping with and others are copycats
of things I have already seen.
Everything has to be edible also!
You can go HERE and see other entries.
Then click on the tab that says contest.
Then "click here to find out more"
Then on the tab that says "view entries"

People are seeing the main part of the contest that says:

"Create a Halloween-themed Baking Activity using NESTLÉ TOLL HOUSE Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Submit the name of your project, step-by-step instructions and a picture of your fun creation. Ten lucky finalists will be chosen by NESTLÉ. Votes from our NESTLÉ baking community will determine the winners"

But I wonder if they read the part that says:
"Read The Official Rules"
It is very important that when you enter
any contest to read this!!

Here is what it says:

-
Entries must meet all of the following requirements or they will be disqualified

-Each entry must use Nestle® Toll House® Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough to create a Halloween themed baked creation.

-The skill level of the Baked Creation must be such that 3-12 year old children could participate in making the Baked Creation, and the look and taste must be appealing to that age group.

-
Each entry must be completely edible: Non-edible items such as craft sticks are acceptable, provided they can be removed prior to consumption, or do t they affect consumption or the safety of the Baked Creation.

-
Each entry must be original and created by the entrant, unpublished, the sole property of the submitter, and not previously submitted in any other contest. Entry must not violate any 3rd party rights including, but not limited to copyrights, trademark or right of publicity. Entry must not highlight any third party trademarks, company names or logos. Do not use imitations of famous people or characters from books, movie or television shows, etc.

-
Judging: Two rounds of judging will be conducted. Entries in each round will be judged as follows (the “Judging Criteria”):

Creativity/Originality 40%
Clarity of instructions/Ease of re-creation 40%
Relevance to the theme 20%

-Round One: The NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Marketing Team will review all eligible entries submitted and select ten (10) finalists.

-
Round Two: The ten (10) finalists selected in Round One will be posted on www.Facebook.com/TollHouse for consumer voting. Voting will run from 10/21/10 12:01 a.m. ET through 11:59 p.m. ET 10/28/10. Consumers will be asked to vote for the Baked Creation based on the Judging Criteria, with the top three (3) finalists chosen by voting consumers. Limit one (1) vote per person per day. In the event of a tie, winner will be determined by NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Marketing Team in its sole discretion. Winners will be notified on or about 10/29/10.

Now after reading this go back and check
out some of the entries.
I see allot that will be disqualified
because they did not read the above!!

I think it also helps to use other products
made by that manufacturer, just my opinion,
because I think this recipe is a way they
can advertise to sell more cookie dough.
So I added Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chips
to my recipes when decorating!

I did that when coming up with
the recipe for Betty Crocker.
Along with their cookie mixes
I also included Betty Crocker frosting!
Like I said I think it helps to sell more of
their products!
I had always wanted to go into advertising
so I see these contests in different ways
other than just baking :0)
I see it from the manufacture's point of view!

7:35pm

So far three votes for mouth cookies
and 1 for skull.

Thinking of a name for mouth cookies.
How about "Cookie Bites"?

-------------------------------

Found this tip that I also do:

After Halloween, watch at stores for 90% off holiday items.
Stock up on multi-packs of party favors that can be given out
as next year's treats. Be creative and think outside the candy
box!
Beth in Galesville, WI.
from Dollar Stretcher

I also stock up on candy at that price.
I use it throughout the year
and even when the next Halloween rolls around.
Those candy corns used in my cookies were
from last years 90% off sales!!
Still tastes just as good and no
discoloration!
Watch out for chocolate candy bars
and keeping them that long,
unless you are freezing them,
the chocolate can sometimes turn white.
