7:25AM

Boy it sure would be nice not to
walk around with a limp
and to be able to get rid of this toe pain.
1 day and counting til I see doc.

These are about the clearest pictures
I could get of the car due to the morning
or evening light.

.
...After dealing with this car lot and upon leaving
I actually turned to the salesman and told
him this was the best car lot I have ever dealt with.
Those words NEVER usually come from my
mouth when dealing with car salesmen!!
After doing paperwork and leaving the lot
we noticed the speedometer had quit
working. It worked when we test drove it.
We turned back around and went back
to the car lot to tell the salesman.
I told him that had I known this would
happen it would have affected my decision
with purchasing the car. He was very nice
and did some research on his computer
and said he could buy a new instrument cluster
and install it for us. AND eat the cost
of $200 for it!! So we're supposed
to take back the car today.
I did some research and out of very few things
to go wrong with this car was the instrument
cluster not working. So to get it fixed for free
was great in my book.
Earlier when wheeling and dealing
I told the salesman I was concerned about
the 20 inch rims and tires that were on the car
and how I thought they wouldn't work for us
in the snow. I am all about practicality
and this concerned me. He said he still had
the original tires and rims that go with
the car and would include those in the sale!
So tonight we go pick up the other set
of tires and rims.
So for us to find a dealer that was this nice,
corrected any problems we had by fixing
things and throwing in another set of tires,
taking in our trade of a Tracker that smokes
worse than a freight train is my kind of person.
And he also told us if we found other problems
before bringing the car back tonight to get
the instrument panel installed and we didn't like
the car that he would refund our money and
Tracker back to us!!
And the best part was...
how many dealers do you know would
do all the above for a car around $2500???
He gave us $1500 for our Tracker.
I don't think we would have gotten that
if we had sold it on Craigslist due to
it smoking so bad. It would have scared people away!
The dealer knew it smoked because it let out
a big ole puff upon starting it when he looked it over.
Plus we had money from selling the Explorer
plus a little out of pocket cash.

9:45AM

Do you ever have vehicles that seem to
get jealous of one another when you bring
home another one.
That's how I feel each time we get another vehicle.
I went to start up the suburban this morning
to take the kids to the bus stop
and discovered the battery was dead, ahhh.
I don't mind walking a block away BUT
when you've got a toe that hurts like heck
it's a whole different story!!
I can only wear open toed sandles at the moment
with socks. Well not to sound gross but with an
infected toe that oozes I tend to get sock
fuzzies in my wounds that I have to pluck out.
I did get good news this morning from the bus
driver. Starting tomorrow morning they
are moving the bus stop to out front
of our house. You just don't know what a relief
that will be! No warming up a vehicle, scraping
off ice and brushing off snow just to take the
kids to & from the bus stop this Winter!

Sorry I haven't posted many deals lately.
I just haven't felt the greatest
and sure as heck don't feel like walking around
a grocery store to do shopping
unless it's for just a couple of things.
And when I'm not trying to do some
housework like laundry, which I didn't
get all done yesterday, I am laying down
taking a nap trying to get my energy back.

I do feel a little better today.
But it's like one moment I could have energy
and it could be gone and I feel down and
out a couple hours later.
So while I'm in my energetic moment (LOL)
I'll try to post a few deals I see.

Wow! I just heard from reader, Anna, over at Living-Laughing-Saving that Kmart has the regular size packages of Huggies Little Movers in size 3, 4, and 5 on a price drop for just $5… even the jean variety is included in this price drop. I normally wouldn’t post a deal like this because I’d assume it was a regional price drop… but it appears that this price drop is available in lots of locations. You can check out the thread on A Full Cup to see what I’m talking about.

Here are a couple important things to keep in mind– the Little Movers may not be marked on a price drop, however, do a price check and they should ring up for $5 even if they are in fact marked higher on the shelf. Also, this price drop is ONLY valid thru tomorrow, 11/8.

If you’re able to find the Little Movers at your Kmart, check out the deal you can score…

*Buy one package of Little Movers (size 3, 4, or 5) on a price drop for $5 (may not be marked)
Use the $2.50/1 coupon found here
Final cost only $2.50!

There is also a $2/1 Huggies Little Movers coupon available in the 10/17 SS and there is a $3/2 coupon available on SmartSource.

I try to think of all sorts of ways to save money
but what about ways to build up a savings account?

For every day that you pack a lunch and don't eat
out at work reward yourself with that amount
you would have spent and put it into a savings
account.
So let's say that lunch costs from $2 to $5.00 each day
that you're spending on a fast food somewhere.
Your savings:
1 week $10 to $25.00
1 month $40 to $100
1 year $480 to $1200

And that's just one idea and you see
how quickly that one thing alone
can save you big bucks in a year
and start to build up a savings account.

Even putting back money into a savings
account that doesn't seem like much
each week will add up over time.

Savings:
$5-$10 a week
$20-$40 a month
$260-$520 a year

Doesn't seem like a whole lot built
up until you have car repairs, doctor's
visits or need groceries.
At least it's something!

Teach younger children once
they start getting their first jobs to
try and tuck back about 3% of every paycheck.
Not all companies offer a retirement package
and if they start a savings account when about
16 to 18 it can add up over the years
until retirement age. But they cannot
touch it until then! My calculations
do not figure in any interest made
which will make the figures even bigger over time.

Let's look at an income of $1000 to $2000 a month
which is $30 to $60 a month at 3% of your pay.
Times a year is $360 to $720 a year.
Times 49 years is $17,640 to $35,280.
Now if you are lucky enough to have an employer
that has a 401K they will usually match
whatever you put into it.
So those numbers will jump to
$35,280 to $70, 560!!

So get those kids started when they are young.
Who knows if they will even have social
security offered to them once they hit retirement
age.

Here is an interesting article I read
about saving money buying generics
or store brand items.
They have also included a video
for you to watch.

12:00PM

I have been reviewing the car we got
and getting more information.
Just for the heck of it I wanted
to know roughly what this car
went for when it was new.
Got a little light headed when
I saw that these base model cars
went for $50,000!!!
Oh and let me add that the speedometer
goes up to 160mph!

Tony keeps calling and we keep chatting
back and forth about whether to keep the car or not.
Never had the option of purchasing a car
and the dealer refunding our money if
we didn't like it.
Do you risk it with all it's great reviews.
What if it starts falling apart
and needs costly repairs?
Or do you take it back and get your
Mosquito Sprayer back?
My concern is if something goes wrong with
this car how costly is it to fix and can
we work on it ourselves.
Did you know that this car is actually
a Toyota?
It's made by them.
I guess with anything you buy you
take a risk.
Do we keep it or not is the question?
I'm sure if we kept it and decided to
sell it later on if we didn't like it we could get our money
back out of it as opposed to the Tracker.

12:20PM

Well I'm going to go lay down.
Told the kids this morning to walk
home from bus stop after school since I don't have a running vehicle and my toe hurts.
Tony made a funny and thought I should
ride a bicycle down there.
HA HA, anything that makes my toe
bend like peddling a bike is out of the question!

I do keep worry about what the doctor is
going to tell me about my toe!

------------------------------------------

3:50pm

Cool deal the bus actually dropped the kids
right in front of our house!

7:30PM

Well as of this evening we still have the Lexus.
Took it back over to the car lot and dropped
it off so they could put a new instrument
panel in it. He also asked if we found
any other problems. We said that the
power side mirrors and horn wasn't working.
He said no problem he would take care of it.

I'm still having a hard time believing
this car lot and I'm still shaking my head!!
You would have thought we had of bought
a $20,000 used car with a warranty!
We don't have any warranty so if they
offer to fix something, go for it!
He even told me he would give me the old
cluster gauge panel that he removes.
So that there tells me he actually did the work
and put another one in!

Working on a late supper at the moment.
Still feeling crappy but trying to get
around the best I can.
Why does it seem like when one does not
feel well they have tons of stuff to do.
Like car shopping, car buying,
taking the car to get fixed, tomorrow
is parent teacher conferences,
picking the car back up
and oh yeah a doctor's appt.
Still fixing suppers and meals
and doing laundry.
Hate to see what would happen if
I went to the hospital.
It would probably fall apart
around here!
