REPURPOSING AN OLD TOWEL

Got all my Clorox mop cleaning pads done.
I took an old towel that had holes in it,
and cut it up.

I found that a magazine made a great
template for the cloths.

After cutting out I zig zag stitched
around the edges to keep from fraying.

This can be used on Clorox Ready Mops
or the Swiffer Sweeper Mops.

How making your own mop pads saves you money...

I priced the cheapest package of Clorox
Ready Mop pads at Walmart for
$6.00 for 16 pads, that's .38 cents a pad.

Let's say you use 4 pads a week, mopping
twice with 2 pads each time.
That's $6.00 a month
for a package of these pads.
Times 12 months is $72.00!

You save $72 a year by making your
own pads from a freebie towel!!

Now add that to our savings with
homemade bathroom wipes and
homemade rags and our total savings
so far each year is....
$202 just for these 3 simple
homemade items!!!

Cut up and got the beans from the garden
blanched and put in one of those Zioloc
vacuum bags. First time trying those out.
Seem pretty good.

Next I sliced up the hungarian and banana
peppers from the garden to pickle.
No these are not canned as they will
get eaten too quickly.
I saved all the seeds from the peppers
for next year.

Mom just stopped by after her trip to Meijers.
There she picked me up a watermelon for $2.99,
the cheapest we've seen this year!

I plan on making these drinks below with
some of the watermelon.

WATERMELON LEMONADE
4 Servings

Ingredients

* 2 cups lemonade
* 3 cups seedless watermelon, coarsely chopped
* 1 cup crushed ice

Directions

* In a blender, combine all ingredients; cover and process until smooth. Pour into chilled glasses; serve immediately. Yield: 4 servings.

---------------------------------

WATERMELON AND BASIL ICED TEA
Yield: Makes 8 servings

Ingredients

* 8 cups boiling water
* 8 tea bags
* 1/8 medium-sized watermelon, cut into small triangles
* 1 small bunch fresh basil sprigs
* Sugar, to taste (if desired)

Preparation

Pour the water into a heat-resistant pitcher. Add the tea bags and let steep for 10 minutes. Remove and discard the bags and allow the tea to cool to room temperature before refrigerating. Add the watermelon, basil, and sugar (if using), and pour over ice.

Taco Bell to embrace breakfast

For those craving a Mexican-inspired burrito breakfast, Taco Bell will soon be your go-to spot. The restaurant chain will permanently launch a breakfast menu starting late 2011 or 2012.

The new breakfast menu is still in the making and will apparently take a year or two of research and testing to launch the ideal line to satisfy customers. Some breakfast items will be double-ham-and-cheese melt, sausage burritos, potato and cheese roll ups, and hash browns. The menu will be a mix of mid-priced items and inexpensive food options, some even priced under a dollar. Taco Bell will partner with Seattle's Best Coffee, Jimmy Dean sausages, Cinnabon Delights, and other brands to expand its breakfast line.

Resveratrol may prevent eye disease, blindness

(NaturalNews) Resveratrol -- a natural compound found in red wine, grapes, blueberries, peanuts and other plants -- has been found to promote longevity and health in a variety of ways. For example, scientists have found evidence it prevents heart disease, helps keep weight under control, normalizes cholesterol levels and may prevent diabetes. Now there's another benefit to add to this remarkable list of benefits: it could prevent some of the top causes of blindness.

HINTS AND TIPS FOR TODAY

Use Vinyl Tablecloth as Curtain to Keep Out Heat

---------------------------------------

Make Your Own Brown Sugar
To make your own brown sugar, mix one tablespoon of molasses with a cup of white sugar. Add more for darker and less for lighter.

---------------------------------------

Use Envelope Labels and Return Labels

To save money on return address labels, cut the labels out of everything sent to you. When you need to send out an envelope or package, tape it in the left hand corner of the envelope or package and you have an instant return address label that didn't cost you anything.

---------------------------------------

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store.
If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

---------------------------------------

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil.
It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

---------------------------------------

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating.
Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

--------------------------------------

Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef.
It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.

--------------------------------------

To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of
spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.

--------------------------------------

For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints
in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.

--------------------------------------

Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm.
This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza.

--------------------------------------

To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in
a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food
moist and help it reheat faster.

--------------------------------------

Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers,
put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and for-
get about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not
get through wet newspapers.

-------------------------------------

Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

------------------------------------

Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth.

------------------------------------

To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2' with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

------------------------------------

Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!
