9-1-10

8:15-8:25AM

Took the boys down to their bus stop.
I saw the 90 some year old lady out
there with the neighbors 2 kids.
Oh I just wanna slap the truck driver
neighbor for putting this lil ole
lady through this. I thought maybe
she would have the kids walk to
the bus stop but no, she walked a block
to the bus stop with them. Another
neighbor came out when the bus left
and even offered her a ride home which
she refused. What's this truck driver
neighbor gonna do when the cold weather
hits, still expect this lady to take
them to the bus stop?

I did find out this lady has lived
on this street since her house was
new and before other houses were built,
so she's been here since about 1958!!
52 years!!

8:30-9:30AM

Me and mom went to Meijers.
I spent $6.00 for my stuff.
I got:

2- 72 count Huggies diaper wipes
1 Kraft Italian Dressing
2 packages smoked cheddar sausages
1 pkg shredded Mexican cheese
1 box of Cheerios
about 5 Organic bananas (.15 cents for all!)
1.05 pounds seedless grapes (.50 cents)

I found 3 hang tag coupons
for .50 cents off Lysol that
I took off bottles for my
coupon binder.

I got a $1.00 off $2.00 or more
of any bread purchased Catalina coupon.
Gave to mom behind me in checkout
because she had like 4-6
loaves of bread in her cart.

Also got $1.00 off $4.00 or more
produce Catalina coupon.

And $4.00 off next purchase
of $40 or more. (now have 2 of these)
I didn't think about it but
should have given this coupon
also to mom.

Got $1.00 of next shopping
trip Catalina.

Last week I got

$1.00 off $10.00 or more
meat purchase.

$1.00 off $9.00 or more
of cereal.

$1.00 off $4.00 or more
on produce.

So now's the time to shop Meijer
because those Catalina machines
are spitting coupons out
like crazy!

I wish mom would ask me sometimes
before doing things to prevent
her from overspending.

She was telling me about ordering
something off an infomercial.
And before she could tell me the
story I knew what had happened.
I already had read about it
and became knowledgeable about
these kind of things before hand.
But hey I read too much. That's
what they say. But I don't taken
for my money by reading too much!

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OFF ANY
TV COMMERCIAL!!!
HSN AND QVC are ok. But nothing
off tv or as seen on tv items!!

Those items they include with
whatever they are selling and say
they are free still cost additional
shipping expense.
Then they
automatically signed her up,
without her permission, for
some kind of credit reports,
3 of them! Once they get your
credit card number now they
sign you up for other offers
to automatically be billed to
your credit card each month.
She has to call and cancel each
one!

So please DO NOT order anything
off those stupid tv commercials
or you could be sorry you did!!

If you see something you really
like or want on tv then wait
for it to hit stores where
you won't have to pay shipping
expenses or have your credit
card signed up for other things.

Mom had a gutter person out to
her house this morning.
He was saying he did all sorts
of work other than gutters.
So just for the heck of it I
asked him how much would it be
for 2 concrete parking pads.
He said $1200-$1300. Not that
I can afford that but I can see
how much I can save by either
doing some concrete ourselves
or finding another option
like large cement pavers.

That's all for now. Might lay
down and take a quick nap before
this guy comes out between
2:30-3:00Pm to look at our truck.

I think in the near future I might
make some homemade fruit roll ups
for the kids lunches at school.

All you do is mix some applesauce
with a little sugar-free jello
powder, pour onto food dehydrator
tray ( make sure to use wax/parchment paper
on the tray since it has holes on it).
You could also mash a few bananas into
the applesauce.

Turn dehydrator on for 4-8 hours
until applesauce becomes leathery.
Turn off and allow to cool.
Peel off an put into zip baggies.

Very easy and is cheaper and more
nutritional than those bought
from the store.

You could probably use any combination
of fruits. Just put them in your
blender to puree them first.

You could also slice bananas or
apples and make chips out of them.
You may have to dunk the fruits
in lemon juice first to keep
them from browning.

I was able to find a free food dehydrator
with about 5 trays off of Freecycle
years ago.

I keep seeing advertisements for this
new product called Shout Color Catcher.
It's supposed to prevent colors
from bleeding onto other clothing.
You know like a red sock got mixed
in with your whites and turned
everything pink.

You know if you wash your clothes
in cold water and use about
1/2 cup to 1 cup vinegar
in the water it keeps clothes
from bleeding or colors fading.

Vinegar is a natural fabric softener
you can use in place of your
regular fabric softener.
Even though vinegar has a strong
smell it does NOT make your clothes
smell like it!

2:55PM

Still sitting here waiting for
this guy to show up to look at
our truck. Starting to wonder
since it's almost 3:00
and he is supposed to be here
between 2:30-3:00PM.

Gonna be mad if he doesn't show.
I had to rearrange my schedule
some to have this guy come over.
Tried calling him and get no
answer on his cell phone.

If someone doesn't want to
do something or is running
behind couldn't they give you
the common courtesy of calling
you to let you know instead of
letting you wait and wait and wait.
GRRRRRR!!!

Will let you know if he even shows up.

3:10PM

The guy finally called my step-dad.
Not even sure if he would have called
if he hadn't of tried to call him.

Why do people wait til after the time
they are supposed to be here to call you?

If he knew he wasn't going to be able
to make it today then he should have
called much earlier.

So he's not coming today.
And he did not set up another time
to come out either. Maybe on his
next day off next week.
I have no clue at this moment
and it is still up in the air.

These are just notes I'm taking
about building up our immune
systems this Winter to try
and avoid and sickies if
possible.

Was reading an article today
about Fish Oil, which is something
Tony takes.

I am currently looking into
getting a multi vitamin with
D3 and Omega-3 in it. Less pills
to take and is so much better for
you. And possibly something
with a calcium supplement.

Here's one I found a CVS for men.
Now wonder if there is one
for women?
Rapid Nutrition Men's Multi
with Vitamin D3 &
Omega-3 Oil Liquid Soft-Gel

I can't find a women's all in
one like the above. So if I take
the men's version will I grow
balls and facial hair and be able
to stand up and pee?
LOL

Did you know:
Omega-3 deficiency was recently
revealed as the sixth biggest killer
of Americans, responsible for up
to 96,000 premature deaths each year?

Omega-3 oils have been called
“the miracle food of the 21st century.”
Research shows the right kind can help
prevent heart disease, maintain optimum
blood pressure and cholesterol levels
and give almost immediate relief from
joint pain, migraines, depression,
autoimmune diseases and many other
conditions. And, by improving brain
development and memory functioning,
from conception through old age,
certain Omega-3 oils also provide
the perfect brain food.

Calcium, Vitamin D3 Supplementation
Reduces Hyperparathyroidism And Hip Fracture

CVS has gummies for kids
with Omega-3 and D3 in them.

It's about a 1 month supply.
120 count. Take 4 a day.

Almost forgot about my eggplants
growing in the garden.

I'm thinking about making in the
near future an eggplant lasagna.

Found a recipe but will tweak it
with what I normally have on hand.
Recipe below is tweaked.
To see original recipe
go HERE

Ingredients

* 1 eggplant, sliced into 1/2 inch rounds
* 5 tomatoes
* 1 pint cottage cheese
* 2/3 cup pesto
(probably use tomato soup)
* 2 eggs, beaten
* salt and pepper to taste
* fresh pasta sheets
* 1 1/3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. grill eggplant in a skillet, turning once, until charred and tender, 10 to 15 minutes. Halve tomatoes and place on baking sheet in oven for 15 minutes. cook until tender and wrinkly.
3. In a medium bowl, stir together cottage cheese, pesto, eggs, salt and pepper until well mixed.
4. Spoon half of the tomato sauce into a 9x13 baking dish. Lay two pasta sheets over the sauce. Arrange a single layer of eggplant slices over pasta and top with half the cottage cheese mixture. Cover with two more pasta sheets. Arrange the roasted tomatoes evenly over the sheets and spoon the remaining half the cottage
cheese mixture over the tomatoes. Sprinkle with half the mozzarella. Top with remaining two sheets of pasta. Pour remaining tomato sauce over all and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella.
5. Bake in preheated oven 30 to 40 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

I have these bananas I bought today
that needs used up asap due to being
overripe. But that's how I like to buy
them. They are cheap and perfect for
baking with. Overripe bananas have
a much more sweeter taste to them.

I've been scouring different recipes
to make with them and found this
one I might use. It uses less sugar
and has a chocolate flavor with
the use of cocoa and has oatmeal in
it. If you didn't want to use
butter in them you could replace
it with applesauce to make it
even healthier for you.

Once made I'll probably have
to store them in mom's freezer.
I'm outta room in mine!

Cocoa Banana Oatmeal Muffins

Ingredients
1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup baking cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 small)
1/2 cup fat-free milk
5 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
2 egg whites or 1 egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
Powdered sugar (optional)

Heat oven to 400°F. Line thirty-six miniature muffin cups with paper baking cups or spray bottoms only with cooking spray.
In large bowl, combine flour, oats, granulated sugar, cocoa, baking powder and baking soda; mix well. In medium bowl, combine bananas, milk, margarine, egg whites and vanilla; blend well. Add to dry ingredients all at once; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. (Do not overmix.)
Fill muffin cups almost full. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool muffins in pan on wire rack 5 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired. Store tightly covered.

6:20PM

Just got 6 dozen mini muffins
made. I doubled the recipe above
due to the amount of bananas I had
to use up. Once done I rolled
the tops in some powdered sugar.

Getting ready to pack up
a bag for Tony's coworkers
and then the rest will
go in the freezer.

6:30PM

Gonna go out and help Tony try
putting another shifter cable
on the red Trans Am to see
if it will work. This car has
yet to get off this trailer
since we had transmission work
done on it about 3 months ago!
I'm so tired of it sitting up there.
I would like to be able to get
it off the trailer and park it
behind the fence before Winter,
even if we have to put it on the
grass/dirt and temporarily
remove a fence panel and screw it
back up.
If ya can't shift a car into
gear, how the heck do you get
it off a trailer?

___________________________

It looks as though this shifter
cable is going to work on the car.
Tony has it installed and put
back together. It is still sitting
on the trailer. So maybe another
day we will attempt to take it off.

For those of you interested
in and want to get a flu shot
I saw in the CVS ad they are
giving away free flu shots
when you purchase $30 worth
of Proctor & Gamble items
they have listed on the front
of their paper.
I don't know if this is the before
price if you use coupons.

I, myself, don't want injected
with who knows what, that is
in that shot. That's just
me personally though. To each his own.
That is why I talk so much about
the natural supplements like I do.
It's better for you and you know
what you are putting in your body.

We are talking about going to the
