10:00AM

Today is supposed to be 80 with thunderstorms.
I decided to give the air condition a rest
and turned it off. Got windows open
and fans blowing in every room.
Humidity is still up and the air
feel sticky. Just trying to cut back
on the electric bill.

10-11:00AM

With no AC on it's reading 79 in here.
I'm sure once Tony gets home from work
we'll be turning it back on due to humidity.

Back in basement for another go 'round.
Got 2 boxes full of stuff to haul out.

My dear friend's hubby stopped by and
dropped off some Dr. Scholl's coupons for me :0)
along with some cucumbers from her garden.
I need their green thumb touch over here
to get stuff to grow faster!
While they've got cucumbers already,
I've got babies ones just starting out
about the size of a finger.

Well back to the basement to get more done, UGHH!
Trying to move things around down there
and get some what of a plan of action.

What the heck do you do with or where do
you store a HUGE LCD TV box that you need
to keep due to a purchased warranty.
If something would go wrong with the TV
I need the box it came it. That really sucks
because that sucker takes up a lot of space!

Fed Ex man came to the door and delivered
my free Glidden paint samples.

I tried it out on the wall and don't think
I like it. I think I want a more deeper
red with less orange in it.
While it matches some colors in my chair
covers I still want something that's not
quite that bright.

Got 5 boxes and a bag hauled up outta
the basement. Been on a roll the past
week with getting rid of stuff!
Too bad it's been raining
because I'm gonna need some more
boxes! Maybe I could find some
fresh ones after the rain.

Looks like the rain might be moved out by this
evening. That would be nice to go
check out the cars from Good Guys at the hotels.

3:00PM

Decided to turn the air condition back on.
It stayed 79-80 degrees in here today
but the humidity sucks!
Had to turn on the oven to make my
cookie cups for ice cream later on tonight.

Jonathan has been wanting pumpkin ice
cream but that is a seasonal item. Pumpkin in
a can is scarce due to a shortage.
So I pulled out a Pumpkin Spice cookie
mix by Betty Crocker out of the pantry
to make the cookie cups with.
I bought pumpkin spice and gingerbread
cookie mixes after the holidays when
they went on clearance. It's a nice
change to have a taste of the holidays
during the Summer months for something
different.

4:15PM

Got all the pumpkin spice cookie cups baked,
rims have chocolate with sprinkles
and inside is filled with vanilla ice cream

cookie mix .30 cents
1 egg .04 cents
stick of butter- free
sprinkles- free
1/4 cup milk chocolate chips .10 cents

TOTAL COST TO MAKE 12
.94 cents for 12 or .07 cents each!

See watchya get off an ice cream truck for that!
NOTHING! Let a lone can feed 12 people if need be.

Why is it kids are so drawn to rain water
but give them a bath and they act like they
will melt?

About 5 minutes before supper was ready
the kids decided to head outside
with umbrellas in hand and play in the
rain that was gushing over the gutters
like a waterfall. Then when my back
was turned I see umbrellas laying on
the ground and they take off on bicycles
in pouring down rain getting soaking wet.
AHHHHH! So we had to get completely
out of our wet clothes and get a new
change of clothes on before eating
and heading out tonight.
Waiting patiently for the rain to stop
so we can go check out the old cars.

POTASSIUM

These are just some notes I have taken concerning
potassium.

Ask your doctor before taking any medications
or supplements.

Helps regulate water balance within the body. It works to control the activity of the heart muscle, nervous system, blood pressure and kidneys.

Potassium's role is to maintain water balance inside the cells and help in the transmission of nerve impulses. Low or high levels in the blood are of critical significance. Potassium helps to maintain proper muscle and nerve function; it also helps in some important metabolic processes.

Potassium is also important in sending nerve impulses as well as releasing energy from protein, fat, and carbohydrates during metabolism.

The range of actual intake for children is 780 to 1,600 mg per day; adults the range is 1600 to 2000 mg per day.

Side effects, precautions, toxicity, and drug interactions

Gastrointestinal symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea, are the most common side effects of potassium supplements. Other potential adverse effects include muscle weakness, slowed heart rate, and abnormal heart rhythm. Increased level of potassium in the blood is known as hyperkalemia. This may be related to increase in total body potassium or excessive release of potassium from the cells into the bloodstream. Hyperkalemia can have serious, potentially life-threatening effects on the body. People with kidney failure should not take potassium supplements.

HOW TO USE: To prevent stomach upset, take each dose with food or immediately after a meal. Sustained-release capsules and tablets must be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew them as side effects may be increased. Take tablets or capsules with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water, unless your doctor directs you otherwise. Do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking the tablet or capsule. The liquid and powder forms must be diluted in a full glass of cold water or juice before taking. Drink slowly.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Inform your doctor about all the medicines you use (both prescription and nonprescription) especially if you take: "water pills" (diuretics such as furosemide or amiloride), ACE inhibitors (e.g., lisinopril), digoxin, salt substitutes containing potassium.

NOTES: Foods high in potassium include: bananas, citrus fruits, watermelon, cantaloupe, raisins, dates, prunes, avocados, apricots, beans, broccoli, brussels sprouts, spinach, potatoes, yams, lentils, fish, chicken, turkey, ham, beef, and milk.
