8:35AM
Throwing supper in the crock pot.
Dumping in a couple of boneless pork
ribs, can of apple pie filling and
a pork seasoning packet that I found
in the mark down bin at Kroger this
weekend.
Once done I will remove pork from crock
and add stuffing mix to the apple
pie filling and mix together.

For dessert will make some more
cookie ice cream cups. This time
I will use gingerbread cookie mix
and caramel ice cream.

For breakfast we had egg sandwiches
with swiss cheese and mayo.
Why is it every time I go to the store
I can't seem to remember butter or
cooking spray. So because I didn't have
any for frying eggs this morning I used
Italian dressing instead. Gives eggs
a whole new flavor!

I don't have any grocery shopping to
do this week. The only place I want
to go is Walgreens to pick up some
school supplies while on sale.
I also wanted to get some insoles
while I have a total of $5.00
off in coupons. I did get a pair
from Kroger Saturday with one $2.00
coupon and that was only because
we couldn't wait to get Tony
some foot relief. I think I paid
$7 or $8 for the DR. Scholl's after
the coupon.

Wanna see a kid frown, tell them you're
going to buy school supplies. Only
six and a half weeks left til the start
of school. Summer's half over with already!
Stores are starting to have
school supplies on sale so now is the time
to start stocking up on them. Stock up
on the basic things you think they could
use all year such as pencils, crayons,
glue, pencil sharpeners, paper, folders.
I'm hoping to get a shelf done up
in the basement for nothing but school
stuff. Store the items on the shelves
in those plastic shoe box storage containers.
Now would also be the time to shop for
some school clothes and beat the rush
of other shoppers!

I shop yard sales and thrift stores for
their clothes. I think Ohio Thrift
has a half price day on everything
in their store the last Wednesday of every month.
But usually there are a ton of people in the
store that day so don't know if it's worth
pushing your way through the crowd.
So July 28th is the last half price day
before school starts!

I already bought
school shoes right before Summer so they
have a brand new pair waiting for that
first day of school, providing their feet
hasn't grown too much, but I try to buy
just a tad bigger.

9:30-10:30AM

I pulled out the paint I used in Jonathan's bedroom
and decided to use it on the dining room wall.
I have a base coat on the wall of this paint.
Then I took a bowl and added a cup of this
paint along with the 2 Glidden terracotta rose
paint samples and mixed them together.
This will be the top coat which
I am getting ready to put on.
I love this color soooo much more
than the glidden color sample I got
in the mail that was toooo bright!
It goes much more better with the
yellow walls.

10:30-11:30AM

Got the dining room wall finished and are so
LOVING the color I came up with!
The color in the photos are NOT true colors.
It looks more like the last photo
called Navajo Red. Picture in your head a dark
terracotta. I don't know why the camera
is picking up the color as more red because
it is not, it's orangy brown.

Now compare that with the terracotta rose
color from Glidden....AHHHHH!

Here is a recipe for homemade Cool Whip.
I have not tried it yet.

Cool Whip

1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
2 teaspoons cold water
3 tablespoons boiling water
1/2 cup ice water
1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons oil

Chill a small metal mixing bowl. Soften gelatin with 2 teaspoons cold water,
then add boiling water, stirring until gelatin is completely dissolved. Cool
until tepid. Place ice water and nonfat dry milk in the chilled bowl. Beat at
high speed until mixture forms stiff peaks. Add sugar, still beating, then oil
and gelatin. Place in freezer about 15 minutes then transfer to refrigerator
until ready for use. Stir before using to retain creamy texture.

Makes 2 cups

Wow the day is just flying by. Haven't made it
down to the basement today. Might stay upstairs
and work in Jonathan's room and bathroom today.

I don't know what it is about kids and toilet
paper. They use sooo much of it and toilet
paper is not cheap! Plus all that toilet paper
clogs the toilet up and I have to play
maintenance mommy a lot. I had turned to
wipes from the store but there's an extra
expense.

Now I am considering making my own wipes
that I can wash. I know it sounds gross
but it can't be any grosser than an overloaded
bathroom trash can that the dog likes to
dig treats out of!! Plus if you've ever
done cloth diapers it can't be any worse
than that!!
I'm gonna find me a flat flannel sheet
and cut it into squares/rectangles with
pinking shears for them to use
as wipes. Place a small spray bottle
on the back of the toilet filled with
2 Tablespoons cheap baby shampoo
and fill the rest with water.
They can use this to spray to moisten the
cloth with.
Then I will find a small trash can
with lid for them to put them into.

Walllah, environment friendly, reusable
and no more extra expense of going
through soooo much TP.

Lunch

Grilled swiss cheese sandwiches.
Used Italian dressing brushed on the bread
before grilling instead of butter.

Been thinking about what to use for a shelf
on my wall in the kitchen. I'm not having
much luck finding the right depth of a shelf
that will work.

If I can't find something soon here is an idea
that I had if I can locate a 3 shelf bookshelf.

I would like to cut the whole thing in half.
Usually they are like 12 inches deep so this
would make it only 6 inches deep.
I'd paint it white, add a backing
and put the light pine contact paper
on the back of it to blend in with the
other kitchen cabinets.

So then I would have two shelves. Couldn't
let the other one go to waste. So here's
is my idea for that, put dowels along sides
and wheels on the bottom and use it in
the small space between the fridge and wall.
I could store cans, small boxes of food or
even spices on it.

Or I don't see why you couldn't
convert an old VHS storage rack
or CD rack, depending on your space
you have, into a shelf for pantry items
beside your fridge.

This is what I want to make to
put next to fridge to give you an idea.

Just some ideas I have. I'm always looking
for more storage place around here!
I'll have to keep an eye out at
yard sales for one :0)
